When I was in Atlanta on business a few weeks ago, I forgot my sleeping pills. Major bummer. I ended up with a semi-sleepless night the first night I arrived because I didn’t realize I forgot them till too late to do anything about it.
The next day, my friend, Kim, was kind enough to pick me up at my hotel and drive me to a local mall for lunch. Luckily, there was a Rite Aid there. I ran in to buy some Unisom, and of course, I had to swing by the beauty department. They had an entire Jesse’s Girl display. To many of you, I’m sure this is no big deal. But the Rite Aid stores near me in Massachusetts don’t carry it. I had only gotten to try Jesse’s Girl from items I received in my ipsy bag, like the terrific liquid eyeliner.
I didn’t have much time to browse so I grabbed one of four “The Eyes Have It” eyeshadow palettes.
I chose #85704 because it was a collection of shades that were underrepresented in my stash – greens – and that looked like a good choice for summer and especially for fall. The colors range from pale greens and blues to teal to earthy greens and browns, a bronzy color, and a brown that reads almost gold. I know I’ll be using this palette a lot in the fall. Definitely good redhead shades. The 9 small pans of color are split fairly equally between mattes and satins.
The shades don’t have names, but this is what they look like on my arm and swatched from the pans on my fingers from left to right.
The quality of the shadows is good. They are soft, fairly buttery, and easy to blend. They are a little bit powdery (talc is the first ingredient), but no more than many other powder shadows. The color pay-off is decent, but nowhere near as saturated as the majority of the new Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Shadows. I always wear eye shadow over primer, and the Jesse’s Girl shadows lasted for many hours without fading or creasing.
I thought that the palette was well worth the $3.99 price. If you can’t find it at your local Rite Aid, it’s available on www.jessesgirlcosmetics.com. Also, Jesse’s Girl is a cruelty-free brand.
Here, I’m wearing three of the green shades with a medium brown in the crease. These shades are outside of my usual comfort zone, but I think I’ll be liking this palette once fall arrives. Oh yes, pardon my wet bangs.
Have you tried one of the Jesse’s Girl “The Eyes Have It” palettes?

Thank you, Sybille! I don’t wear green very often, but I think I will be breaking out this palette frequently come fall
I tend to forget two things when I go away – meds and a toothbrush. I don’t know how I can take enough makeup for 15 people and forget those two things!
