Judith August Cosmetics Solutions Orange Masking Creme

I have about a million concealers, many of which I like, but I’m always on the hunt for concealers that cover better, last longer, color correct when necessary. Recently, I succumbed to the siren song on Facebook of a concealer trio from a brand that was new to me, Judith August Cosmetics Solutions.

Judith August Cosmetics Solutions – concealer, cream foundation, acne/blemish concealer pencil, as well as a full line of makeup – were developed to cover and color correct serious skin discoloration including scars, rosacea, birth marks, even tattoos etc. You should see the before and after photos. Very impressive. While my issues are not that serious, I wanted to try it.

I liked the look of her Orange Masking Creme Superior Cover for Dark Circles. It’s also called Concealer and Foundation for Redness and Sensitive Skin. It has three shades of cream concealer that can be used individually or mixed together. On Facebook, I found a code for 30% off my purchase. I took a chance.

The Orange Masking Creme concealer arrived a few days ago. Along with the purse size trio, they included a spatula and a small blender wedge. The shades are good for me, and I think they’d be good for fair/light to medium skin tones. The Judith August Cosmetics website says that the three shades contain every undertone needed to cover dark circles: pink, peach and yellow. The concealers look peachy-pink, peachy and orangey to balance out and color correct dark circles.

I’ve been using Orange Masking Creme for a few days under my eyes and on the few dark spots that just don’t want to leave me. I’ve used all three shades, and they are all opaque, i.e. full coverage. It is definitely creamy. I discovered it on the website, it protects sensitive skin with pomegranate, shea butter and aloe vera. It also has two UV blockers. The ingredients help retain moisture while fighting free radicals which is great because the concealer doesn’t dry out during the day.

I tried a few different ways of applying. I tried using the deepest, most orange shade under my eyes with foundation on top. I’ve tried the lightest shade under my eyes on top of foundation, and it does a nice job brightening. Next, I’m going to try it on my red eyelids to camouflage my redness. I’ve used the medium shade on my dark spots on top of foundation. Because the weather has been very hot and humid, I’ve used setting powder on top, and I’ve had quite good results getting it to last through this weather.

Check out this cute short video of beauty vlogger, ThatGirlShaexo, demonstrating how she uses it. Her results are impressive! This concealer that can also be used as a foundation is fabulous at concealing redness.

I like this handy cream concealer. It’s soft and easy to blend. It is what I had hoped Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage would be. Secret Camouflage has only two shades, they’re less peachy, and they are much stiffer to use. And Secret Camouflage is more expensive.

So I wanted to tell you about my new discovery, Judith August Orange Masking Creme. I’m going to continue playing with the three shades and see if I can come up with my Holy Grail recipe for perfect coverage.

Check it out on the Judith August Cosmetics Solutions website, and tell me your impression. The concealer trio is priced at $22. The website says you can get 20% off your first purchase. And keep your eyes open, you may find a 30% off deal like I did.

  1. Ohhh, this sounds really good. I wanted to try Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage because Lisa Eldridge always uses it but the reviews that I read said the same thing as you, it’s very thick, stiff and can be hard to work with. I barely have anything to conceal but I thought it would be nice to have for days that I have a spot or two. Do you have any suggestions for something similar as Secret Camouflage? Anything from high end or drugstore?

    1. I think that this Judith August Orange Masking Creme is better than LM Secret Camouflage by far, Shireen! If you don’t really have too much to conceal, I recommend Amazing Cosmetics Perfection Stick or Chella Beauty stick or Tarte has a very good under eye concealer. Maybelline Master Blend concealer in a tube is good too.

  2. I have never heard of this brand before, but your description is compelling! It really sounds as though the orange concealer is an effective color corrector, and it is brilliant that it contains an SPF! This is so important if you are concealing things like hyperpigmentation!

    1. Looking at the ingredients, I’m trying to figure out which is the sunscreen, Helen, but the website does mention it! JA Orange Masking Creme is a great color corrector and because it’s opaque, it really does make imperfections disappear, yay!

  3. It’s the Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides and I think the Chromium Oxide Greens might be as well. 🙂

    1. Gosh, thank you, Helen! Of course! Could I be any lazier or out of it this morning!

  4. Great post and swatches, Allison! I have several of Judith August concealing products and they are hands down, some of the best correctors I have used.

    1. I’m so glad that you took the time to let me know about your experience with it, Kelly. Since you’re a professional, it’s great to hear!

  5. This sounds very interesting, indeed. I wonder if it would be effective on my dark circles. I am happy that the sunscreen ingredients are mineral. Huzzah!

    1. Erika, take a look at the before and after photos on the JA website. It’s a brand used by MUAs and dermatologists. This product is a color corrector, and I think it provides full coverage. Also, check out the other concealers in her line, Killer Cover, and another palette with about 6 shades that I may buy too to cover the discoloration/sun damage on my legs when I wear a dress

  6. I’ve never heard of this brand, Will check it out!

    1. It’s definitely worth looking at the website, Cindy. Judith August is a brand that MUAs have used for years, and dermatologists use/recommend it for those with post surgical scarring and to cover serious skin issues. But I’ve had good luck with it so far!

  7. Judith August is a blast from the past. I don’t think I’ve tried the brand but I remember the name. These seem to be very peachy which doesn’t always work for me unless they blend really well.

    1. It’s peachy because it’s a color corrector rather than just a concealer. I’m a pink skinned gal but this stuff works for me 🙂

  8. This sounds like something that I need to try under my eye area. It’s good to know that it stays put in the humidity.

    1. I put some on my face as concealer and as a light foundation, and it’s 93 and about 60% humidity and it’s still on. I like it!

  13. I love Laura Mercier’s baked products but you’re right, the Secret Concealer of theirs lives much to be desired. Stiff is the only word I would use to describe it. I’m curious about this brand as an alternative, I’ve never heard of it!
