There’s one more day of Amazon Prime Days, and Julep has deep discounts on Amazon and also I believe on their website. I wanted to let you know because I recently bought Julep’s Cream to Powder Waterproof Eyeshadow 101 Sticks on their website when they had a 30% off sale, and I like them.
What I especially like is:
- they are so quick and easy to apply ( they have a built-in smudger) that they are replacing my MAC Paint Pots that I have been using for years
- the cream to powder formula is a good one: cream for easy application and powder for long wear.
In fact, the two shades I bought were the MAC Paint Pots shades (Painterly and Taupe):
- Clay Matte instead of MAC Painterly
- Smoky Grey Shimmer instead of MAC Taupe (Julep has a taupe as well but it’s more brown)
Putty is just a tad more peach whereas Painterly is more pink, but on my eyes, they look pretty much the same. I find both of those shades good for covering up my red eyelids.
The two grey shades are just about identical. The grey is good for the entire lid or for the crease and/or the outer corner.
Both shades are very subtle. They are great for everyday.
Like all Julep products, the Eyeshadow 101 sticks contain naturally effective and nourishing ingredients: like Vitamin C & E that help to hydrate and protect skin with every use. Candelilla Wax also ensures these shadow sticks glide on smoothly without tugging.
Julep sells the at least 34 shades individually, in duos (you have to buy the shades they put in the duo), and several sets of 6 (also in shades of their choosing representing time of day etc.). There are even combo sets (2 sets) of 10 or 12 sticks. The shades are mostly neutrals that they call “Basics” in colors from pale to dark in either matte, metallic or shimmer finishes. They also have a dozen non-neutral shades, e.g. Sapphire aqua shimmer, Evergreen shimmer, Periwinkle matte, Lavender matte, and pale green shimmer Meadow etc. (all 40% off on Amazon today) for those who like a change of pace.
Though I haven’t tried it, they also sell eye primer in a liqui-gel form that comes in a tube with a doe-foot applicator. They also sell sets that come with the primer.
Prices during Prime Day seem to vary from $8 for some of the individual sticks to $70 for a large set. If you’re in the market for easy to apply shadow sticks that last through the summer heat, check out Julep’s cream to powder stick (they also make a regular cream stick shadow) offerings on Amazon.
Love the sound of these Julep eyeshadow sticks! The convenience of a creamy formula that blends easily and turns into a waterproof powder finish is perfect for busy mornings. Especially with so many shades to choose from, I’d love to try them for a crease-proof, long-lasting eye look!
What a great replacement for your MAC Paint Pots! I love the colors that you chose, and it is so much more convenient in a stick, than in the pot! The formula sounds perfect! I need to look at their shades! Thanks for the excellent review, Allison!
Hi, Allison – I was noticing that I don’t have a waterproof eyeshadow for when I go swimming once a week. This looks like something that would fit the bill! Thanks for sharing – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com
