Keep Lip Lines Away with Jan Marini Hyla3D HA Lip Complex

For a long time, I was able to keep lip lines away. But I was shocked last year when I noticed, there they were. Boo.

Though I used moisturizer and anti-aging products on most of my face as well as specialty products like eye cream and neck cream, I never thought about the skin around my lips. It never occurred to me. I don’t think I even bothered applying moisturizer around my lips. And lip balm – that went on my lips, not around them.

But age and sun decrease hyaluronic acid in our bodies and skin, and I haven’t been doing anything to put it back in and around my lips. I wish I had known about a product like Jan Marini Hyla3D HA Lip Complex to help stave off those lip lines, but I think the product is quite new.

Marini Hyla3D HA Lip Complex isn’t a lip balm. It’s a skin treatment with advanced hyaluronic acid, peptides and retinol developed for the lips and lip area to:

  • increase lip hydration
  • soften the appearance of upper lip lines
  • enhance volume and definition of lips.

Hyla3D HA Lip Complex contains Jan Marini’s Hyla3D complex made up of several forms of HA as well as peptides and antioxidants to increase production of collagen and elastin. Marini skincare products use advanced technologies to increase the effects of HA. Here are the key ingredients listed on the Marini website:

  • Tripeptide
  • Retinol
  • DMAE
  • Ceramide 2
  • Tyramine Hydrochloride
  • Cross-Linked HA
  • Liposomal Encapsulated HA
  • Tissue Respiratory Factor
  • Coenzyme Q10

Marini Hyla3D HA Lip Complex is a thick white unscented cream that comes out of the tube’s tip in a skinny ribbon. A little goes a long way. It almost instantly disappears into my skin and lips. It can be worn under lipstick with absolutely no problem.

My Experience with Hyla3D HA Lip Complex

I have vertical lines above my upper lip and below my lower lip particularly on the left side. I have been disturbed to see how noticeable they’ve become. I was eager to try Hyla3D HA Lip Complex to see if it would help make the lines less visible.

I’ve been using Hyla3D HA Lip Complex on and off for about 3 months usually at night before bed. The packaging recommends using it on a regular basis twice a day. In all honesty, I haven’t used it everyday and I haven’t used it twice a day. I need to get more disciplined and do that!

Most likely because I haven’t committed to using the product as directed, I haven’t experienced any major changes in the vertical lines in my lips. Instead, the Lip Complex acts like filler in my lines and makes my foundation look smoother.

I am fortunate that my dry lips still have plenty of volume so I haven’t noticed any volumetric changes. The HA does help hydrate my dry lips, though I don’t really use it too much on my lips because I can get good results hydrating my lips with a much less expensive lip balm.

My review is rather equivocal: I need to commit to using the product on a regular basis. But I also think that Marini Hyla3D HA Lip Complex would be a good product for women who are just noticing the beginnings of lip lines. I think it would help stave off serious lines. I also think it would be an excellent product for women with lips that have lost volume. The combination of HA, peptides and antioxidants that hydrate and produce collagen and elastin should do wonders to help plump thin lips.

Ouch, that price tag!!! Goodness. I think my lip lines are pretty permanent, but at that price point, I’d expect almost overnight results or very dramatic results. Too bad it’s not in Sephora, I’d definitely have asked for a sample/tried it in store.

    1. You’re right, Michelle, definitely a pricey product. It’s often available at 20 or 25% off via Lovelyskin or Dermstore, but it’s still expensive. I agree that trying a sample first would make sense. Nevertheless, Jan Marini products are worth checking out. At least two of their skincare products will make it into my “favorites of the year”: Marini Physical Protectant SPF45 that’s a tinted moisturizer sunscreen that provides good coverage and Bioglycolic Face Cleanser

  2. Ohh I want to try this! I love Jan Marini! And my lips are chapped ALL THE TIME!

    1. Jan Marini HA Lip Complex is for vertical lines and lip volume though the HA would help with chapping, at $65, it would be an expensive way to go 😉

  3. It sounds like it’s really good!

  4. Good to read 2 sides of your experience. Yes, and although I like some of JM products, this product won’t do anything with obvious lip lines related to aging. Hyaluronic acid applied topically will just temporarily “smooth out” the appearance, a sequela of hydration but won’t reverse folds and lines because the molecular size per se of HA is simply too big to penetrate the dermal tissue.

    1. Very interesting info, Kathryne; thank you. For me, it really acts as a filler. The materials from Jan Marini do say “temporary” effects.

  5. My lips have lost volume so it would more than likely help me. I’d love to try it too. And it’s unscented!!!!

    1. I think its ingredients would really help with volume. I think you would like it. I need to be more disciplined and use it twice a day to see if it would help fade my lines rather than just fill them.

  6. I don’t know if there is anything that can help the vertical lines on my upper lips or the loss of volume there too but I would sure give this a try!

    1. I haven’t been using this religiously as I should have, so I haven’t seen any fading in my vertical lines. Instead and so far, it acts as a filler so my foundation looks smoother.

  7. I am definitely noticing some first lip lines starting to appear. I loved other Jan Marini products, so I’m sure this one is wonderful too!

    1. Oh, I don’t believe that you’re seeing lip lines, lol. Nevertheless, I think this product would have greater effects on those who are just starting to see lip lines.

  8. This definitely sounds interesting, but not quite for me (and ouch at that price tag!)

    1. Definitely a “beginning to have mature skin” product.

  9. My lips are so dry lately! This sounds great!!

    1. It’s more of a treatment product for lip lines and loss of volume than a lip balm. It’s quite an innovative product!

  10. I need to double check to see if I have this! I feel like I do! Their products are fabulous!
