Keeping Cool and Hydrated with Phyto-C Icy Blue Mist

Although today feels like the beginning of autumn, it has been hot and very humid for much of this summer. I sit under an umbrella and wear a hat for much of the time that I’m at the beach, but it is still hot.

Several weeks ago, I was sent a product that helps me and my skin feel cooler and more comfortable: PHYTO-C Icy Blue Mist.

PHYTO-C Background

PHYTO-C is a new to me brand. Because it might be new to you too, let me give you a little background on the company, its founder and mission. PHYTO-C   from Phytoceuticals Inc. was started by Dr. Mostafa Omar in 1995. He came up with a stable form of topical vitamin C, L-ascorbic acid that is patented. In 1999 his research showed that L-ascorbic acid, vitamin E and retinol work together to provide enhanced skincare benefits. He also developed olive leaf extract, also patented, to heal skin. These formulations are used by many skincare brands. Today, the company continues to be a research-based leader in natural skincare product formulations.

PHYTO-C Icy Blue Mist

PHYTO-C Icy Blue Mist comes in a slim, blue plastic spray bottle that is easy to carry around (containing 4 fl. oz., it is not quite TSA friendly, but it’s worth decanting some into a small spray bottle for air travel). It can be used as recommended twice a day for the best skincare benefits. When it’s really hot out, I put it in the refrigerator so it’s nice and cold and refreshing.

The key ingredients are:

  • Vitamin B5: an essential nutrient that helps repair the skin’s natural barrier to keep hydration in
  • Hyaluronic Acid: a natural humectant that can hold 1000 times its weight in water
  • Centella Asiatica Extract: an antioxidant source of amino acids with has soothing and hydrating properties
  • Green Tea Extract: the polyphenols in green tea have potent antioxidant and skin-soothing properties, and show significant promise for improving the appearance of sun-damaged skin

It also contains menthol that gives it a cooling scent and sensation on the skin.

In addition to cooling and hydrating dry skin, PHYTO-C Icy Blue Mist calms and soothes. It helps diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by hydrating and plumping the skin. What I like about it is that it just feels good. Although it’s great for the hot weather, this mist can be used as a serum year round.

PHYTO-C Icy Blue Mist is priced at $42, and it is available on the PHYTO-C website. The brand has a large product line of preventive and reparative skincare products as well as some haircare products too. They have a 1% retinol serum that I am eager to try next.

Are you familiar with PHYTO-C? Do you use a cooling mist on your skin during the hot weather?
