Keeping My Hands Warm Beautifully

You may know that I love needlework, especially crochet and embroidery. One of these days, I’ll find someone who can teach this lefty to knit.

I belong to several crochet groups on Facebook, and I guess FB’s algorithm again figured out a way to entice me with advertising. They showed me a sponsored post by a truly talented knitter, crocheter, embroiderer based in Vilnius, Lithuania.

The artisan Natalija Brancevičienė has a Facebook page and she sells her work under the name, NB Gloves and Mittens. She has an Etsy shop under the same name. For at least a year or two, I salivated looking at her gorgeous fingerless gloves, fingered gloves and mittens. Most are knitted with crochet details and lavish embroidery. Some are crocheted with unusual stitches like the crocodile. Everything is beautiful.

This past holiday season, Jeff asked me if there was anything in particular I wanted for Hanukkah. I thought about it, and yes there was. I wanted a pair of fingerless gloves from NB Gloves and Mittens. When I work at my desk/hutch in my office, there is a weird cold breeze that comes through the piece of furniture. I have no idea where it comes from, but it’s cold. My hands are often freezing while typing my blogposts. I thought fingerless gloves would be just the thing.

I chose a black pair that go a couple of inches beyond the wrist bone. She also makes longer length gloves, too. I loved the embroidery on the gloves: roses with little bees buzzing around. So cute! I think they were priced at $69. This design also comes in different colors: ivory, red, gray.

The 100% wool that she used reminds me of the old-fashioned wool my mother used when she knitted things for me decades ago. Initially, it had a slightly different feel from the wool that we get in the US these days. But after wearing them, they feel quite soft. They definitely warm up my hands while leaving my fingers free to do whatever.

NB Gloves and Mittens seem to be priced from $40 to over $100 depending on the length of the item and the complexity of the design or embroidery. Most of the embroidery is folkloric with flowers, bees or citrus slices being the most popular. If this type of handmade accessory appeals to you or someone you know, take a look at NB Gloves and Mittens. I think they would make a nice Valentine’s gift, too. She even has a grey pair with red hearts. I also think she does special order if you have something in particular in mind.

What do you think of my fingerless gloves?

Allison, I love your gloves! I love that old fashioned look. I can knit but can’t crochet….wish I could.

    1. thank you, Sandy! I love the fingerless gloves. They are mostly knit with just a little bit of crochet edging at the top. The embroidery is too gorgeous, and more sophisticated than I can do. Wish you lived closer. I could teach you crochet, and you could teach me to knit. Oh well!

  2. So pretty. I don’t think I could type with them on though. I envy people with that kind of talent.

    1. Me, too! Natalija truly makes gorgeous accessories. I have to move the gloves down a bit to type, but I have small hands. Someone with regular sized hands would have no problem. Also, I am motivated. It is freezing in my office when that breeze from some hidden fan or something comes through 😉

  3. They’re really cute!

  4. Those are just so pretty, and I love them with your mani!

    1. Thank you! A happy coincidence – a matching mani!

  5. Beautiful! Even your mani matches!

    1. It was a happy accident to have my nail polish match the gloves!
