Kiehls Partners with Artist Jeff Koons to Support Missing & Exploited Children

In the run up to Mother’s Day, if you are still looking for gift ideas, I wanted to let you know about an opportunity to do good as well as give your mom, grandmother, aunt, sister, wife, or friend a fabulous gift.

Kiehl’s has partnered with the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC) and the renowned artist Jeff Koons for National Missing Children’s Month. I’ve known Koons’ memorable and often whimsical art work for decades, but I didn’t know that he had a child who was abducted and never found. My heart breaks finding this out. Please check out this short public service announcement about the program.

Jeff Koons created two art works to promote this cause that is so important to him:

  • a collectible tin based on a work of art that he created for the event (wish I had a bigger photo of the tin!)
  • a public art installation in New York City.

During the month of May, Kiehl’s is donating 100% of net profits from the sales of any product in the Midnight Recovery Collection, up to $100,000, to benefit ICMEC.  The Midnight Recovery Collection includes three skincare products:

Customers who purchase any of the three items in the collection at Kiehl’s stores will be able to take home the collectible tin designed by Jeff Koons, an internationally recognized American contemporary artist.

I just received the three products in the Midnight Recovery Collection yesterday to try out for review. Since I usually test skincare products for up to a month, I decided to post about his very worthy cause now while you can take part, and I’ll come back in a few weeks with a review of the collection. Nevertheless, I must admit to you that I got samples of the Midnight Recovery Concentrate and Eye Cream in either a Sephora Play bag or Birchbox several months ago, and both products are fabulous. In fact, I have been trolling Kiehl’s website for sales because the Concentrate (a serum) is so good that I wanted to buy a full size. The Eye Cream is nourishing and wonderful too. When it arrived, I had to instantly try out the Botanical Cleansing Oil and after using a glycolic acid cleanser for two months, it feels so soothing and nourishing to use this wonderful cleansing oil (plus if I want to skip double cleansing for a night or two, I certainly can with this cleaning oil).

Think about picking up one of these terrific skincare products for yourself or for a special mom in your life. So head to your local Kiehl’s store and get a cool Koons cosmetic tin at the same time. In fact, in my neck o’ the woods – the Boston area, there are three stores:

  • Kiehl’s Since 1851, 112 Newbury St., Boston, 617-247-1777
  • Kiehl’s Since 1851, Burlington Mall, 75 Middlesex Turnpike, Burlington, 781-221-0161
  • Kiehl’s Since 1851, The Mall at Chestnut Hill, 199 Boylston St., Chestnut Hill, MA.

If you can’t make it to the store, you can buy online though you’ll miss out on the tin. You know I’m always looking for ways to save money. If you sign up for emails on Kiehls.com, you can save 15%. You can save an additional 15% now by using Ebates (you can sign up via the Ebates logo in my sidebar; it’s free to join.)

Hope you’ll consider participating in this very worthy cause and get wonderful skincare products at the same time!

On a different subject, I wanted to let you know that the winner of the $25 Sephora Gift Card giveaway was Nicole Ackerman. Congrats, Nicole! I think it was a successful giveaway so I’ll participate again. Stay tuned!

    1. I agree with you on each point. I’ve been critical of Koons in the past because I saw him as being to marketing-oriented, but not I feel back for thinking that. What a horrible thing to happen to him and his family. I’m glad that he and Kiehl’s are bringing this worthy cause/organization to my attention
