Kira Cosmetics: Feminine Cosmetics for Gifting or for Your Glam Style

In May, we’re right in the middle of graduations from college and high school, engagement parties, weddings and other special moments. They may be occasions when we may be looking for gifts or for makeup that makes us feel more special and ready for a special event!

Background on Kira Cosmetics and Founder

Let me introduce you to Kira Cosmetics, a cruelty-free makeup brand that creates luxe-looking lashes and makeup in beautiful packaging that speaks to your girly side. Kira Cosmetics was created by Shakira Rahaman, a young woman from Florida.

A few years ago, Shakira found herself in the hospital, intubated and having to make a decision about whether to have a tracheotomy. She made the difficult decision for the surgery, and she spent 4 months in the hospital with a diagnosis of Muscular Dystrophy. Sadly, she went home in a wheelchair.

But entrepreneur Shakira did not allow herself to give up. Instead, she started Kira Cosmetics. Shakira is a fan of all things pink (like me!), and she created a brand with gorgeous, blingy, girly, sparkly packaging, often in rose gold or pink! The good news is that Kira Cosmetics makes products that are an affordable luxury!

Kira Cosmetics makes:

  • several types of lashes: faux mink lashes, magnetic lashes and mink lashes
  • an incredible GLAM Eyeliner Glue: a 2 in 1 Waterproof Eyeliner Pen + Lash glue that applies like eyeliner
  • mineral powder blush in an amazing “pot”
  • eyeshadow palettes in lovely compacts
  • silky loose and pressed powders
  • liquid lipstick and glosses in unique “tubes”
  • jeweled makeup brushes
  • cosmetic sponges/beauty blenders.

My Experience with Kira Cosmetics

La Vie En Rose Lipglosses: Glow Up

The packaging for La Vie En Rose Lipglosses is like nothing I have seen, and I have used A LOT of lipglosses. It is fantastic, literally, a fantasy lipgloss tube. In rose gold with a crown at the top, it looks like a lipgloss for a queen or a princess. Or a lipgloss created by a genie!

But once you open the tube, you will find a traditional doe-foot applicator. I love the fact that the wand is shorter than many, making it easier to apply.

Glow Up, a sheer pink shade, is one of four available glosses. The lipgloss is lightweight, non-sticky, and well, glossy. It has no taste or fragrance. The gloss itself has no irritating ingredients like some other lipglosses can. It feels so comforting and hydrating on my lips. It’s lovely!

Here is Glow Up and the other available shades:

La Vie En Rose Lipglosses are priced at $20 and sold on the Kira Cosmetics website.

Soft Matte Setting Powder

Although I don’t wear setting powder very often except in the heat of summer, I honestly couldn’t resist asking for the Soft Matte Setting Powder. Again the packaging was just so darn adorable that I couldn’t resist! The sparkly bow on top of the glittery square box was absolutely too cute. I was eager to see it on my vanity.

BTW, it comes with a white puff for application if you don’t want to use a brush.

Soft Matte Setting Powder is:

  • A loose powder
  • Lightweight
  • Waterproof
  • Blurs fine lines and pores
  • Easy to blend
  • Comes in 2 translucent shades: 1) for fair to medium skin tones and 2) for medium to deep tones

Somehow, according to the packaging, I was sent the Translucent Medium powder for medium to deep tones, though my skin tone is fair/light. However, I can’t imagine how it would work for those with deep skin tones because it isn’t that dark at all. In fact, I can definitely wear it.

The translucent light peachy powder is truly as smooth and soft as silk. Frankly, I can’t really feel it on my skin because it is as light as a cloud. It does not contain any talc, but it does have dimethicone for that silky feel. Nevertheless, the loose powder does make even a dewy or glowy foundation or oily skin look and feel matte.

Soft Matte Setting Powder is priced at $25 and sold on the Kira Cosmetics website.

Though I haven’t tried it, Kira also makes another powder, Radiant Soft Compact Powder, a pressed powder with a glowy finish. It also comes in two shades. I adore the embossed bow on the powder!

Boss Babe Makeup Brush

Although I don’t think the brushes are sold individually, the Boss Babe Brush Set consists of 12 brushes. I think they would make a memorable graduation gift for a girl graduating high school.

I received a super-cute brush from the set that I think can be used as a concealer brush or an eyeshadow brush for applying color to the lid. The brush handle is pink with multicolored “aurora borealis” beads along the outside. The soft man-made bristles are pink or pink and white ombre, and the ferrule is rose gold with the Kira Cosmetics logo on it.

In addition, there are two brushes, Fluffy Pink Bling Brushes, that look thickly-packed with soft bristles for applying powder foundation and blush/bronzer etc. that are sold individually for about $20 each. They look incredibly soft.

I am truly enjoying my cosmetics from Kira Cosmetics. It’s a joy to use them! Check out Kiracosmetics.com to see the product range for yourself. And go to Shakira’s beautiful pink Instagram page to follow her business and her journey!
