Laurme Lemon Tart Exfoliating Mask & Giveaway!

A few weeks ago, I went for a long overdue facial. In spite of the fact that it had been over a year since my last facial, the esthetician told me that my skin was in really good condition. Taking care of my skin at home really does pay off!

After she deep cleaned my skin, I wanted to make sure I kept it that way. That’s where Laurmé Lemon Tart Exfoliating Mask comes in. But more on the mask in a moment. Laurmé was a new-to-me brand, so let me fill you in.

Laurmé SkinCare

Laurmé is a skincare brand that you need to know. Their skincare products come in two lines:

  • anti-aging (who doesn’t want that?)
  • sensitive skin.

They array their products into how they fit into a simple routine:

  1. Cleanse and Tone: obviously cleanser and toner
  2. Nourish and Renew: anti-aging serums and moisturizer
  3. Refresh and Indulge: mask

They contain effective ingredients that we want, and they leave out ingredients like sulfates, parabens, phthalates, gluten, and fragrance that we don’t want in our skincare products. Laurmé describes their philosophy as “gentle yet effective, low-maintenance, high-performance skin care”. Importantly,  Laurmé Skin Care is cruelty-free, Leaping Bunny certified, and it’s made in the U.S. Sign me up!

A Little Background on the Brand

The founder and creative director, Michele Fieldson, started the brand based on a simple, effective, skincare products for sensitive skin after her sister was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. Michele’s sister was unable to find skincare products to soothe her skin that had been damaged by chemotherapy and radiation. In response, Michele studied the physiology of skin and developed gentle Laurmé SkinCare, named after her mother. Check out the Laurmé Skin Care website for more details.

Laurmé SkinCare gives back! A portion of their sales is contributed to City of Hope, a well-known cancer research center in southern California.

In addition, Laurmé Lemon Tart Exfoliating Mask was chosen to be part of a special Beauty Makeover Day held by The Beauty Bus Foundation, a nonprofit that provides makeup and support services to those struggling with the often devastating side effects of cancer treatment. How wonderful is that? Michele’s sister was part of a makeover day held at a nearby hospital after her recovery, and it really helped raise her spirits. Michele was thrilled that her Lemon Tart Exfoliating Mask was part of the day.

I was sent Laurmé Lemon Tart Exfoliating Mask to try out. You know that I adore masks, and this mask is perfect to help me maintain the results of my recent professional facial at home.

Here’s how the mask is described on Laurmé’s website: “Indulge with this nutrient-rich mask. Jojoba beads remove impurities and dead skin cells; vitamins and phospholipids smooth, hydrate, and nourish for radiantly glowing and polished skin. This luxuriously tart mask promises to lift away life’s harsh realities. Experience the luxury of a spa treatment in your own home. VEGAN, GLUTEN-FREE.”

I was enticed by the name alone: Lemon Tart. Yum.

The scent is not overwhelmingly lemon. It’s a subtle lemon gourmand scent that’s a delight to the senses! I generously apply the thick, gentle cream that has environmentally friendly jojoba beads suspended throughout.

Next, I massage it for about 30 seconds to help remove dead skin cells. Then I relax or go about my business for 10-15 minutes while the mask does its magic. I don’t have a photo of me wearing it because it almost disappears as it dries slightly on my skin. Then I rinse it off with a washcloth with warm water. A hydrating “coating” that feels like moisturizer remains on my skin. I could almost skip an additional moisturizer afterwards because my skin feels hydrated and protected as well as clean and smooth. The mask is gentle enough to use a couple of times a week!

The key ingredients in the mask are:

  • Antioxidant Vitamins A, C & E to brighten and even skin tone and texture
  • Aloe, Squalane, Organic Shea Butter and Sunflower Seed oil to nourish dehydrated and sensitive skin.
  • Calendula to moisturize and nourish dry and sensitive skin.

The mask has no sulfates, parabens, phthalates, or gluten. Its lemon scent comes from natural ingredients.
