L’Oreal Revitalift Triple-Power Deep-Acting Moisturizer

L’Oreal Revitalift Eye Firming Eye Cream was my go-to eye cream for more than a decade.

And I’ve used other skincare products in the ever expanding Revitalift line. So when I received a black box from Influenster, the blogger’s organization, with L’Oreal written in white on the outside, I was eager to see what was new.

I just want to take a moment to say that I have been a long time fan of drugstore skincare brands. The companies that own these brands have deep pockets, and they traditionally put a lot of money into research and development. They often include cutting edge technology and ingredients in their products. I believe you get a lot of bang for your buck.

Inside the black box, there was an attractive deep red squarish jar, L’Oreal Revitalift Triple-Power Deep-Acting Moisturizer. My first reaction was that the deep red jar reminded me of Olay Regenerist Sculpting Cream, another skincare product that I used for more than a decade. When I conducted a market research study for a foreign skincare brand here in the U.S. several years ago, the research showed that deep red was associated with both luxury and either mature or sophisticated women! I think the deep red jar with the silver top is just plain nice to look at on my vanity. BTW, I don’t have a problem using skincare products in jars. I use a clean scoop, and I close the jar quickly. If you avoid jars, then this won’t be for you.

Influenster asked us to take photos before and after taking “the Revitalift Challenge”, using L’Oreal Revitalift Triple-Power Deep-Acting Moisturizer for 14 days. Although I did it, to be honest, I thought that wasn’t very realistic, for me at least. For one thing, it takes about 28 days for facial skin cells to turnover. Second, I’ve been using moisturizer for about 40 years, a million different brands and formulas. All of them have helped me stave off aging for as long as I could. There is no moisturizer that is going to make a visible change in my skin in two weeks of use. Sorry Influenster or L’Oreal, but that is honestly how I see it. Nevertheless, here are the “before” and “after” pics. Unfortunately, the lighting and angle isn’t the same.

Nevertheless, I was eager to see what L’Oreal had been up to in developing Revitalift Triple-Power Deep-Acting Moisturizer. First off, I am definitely the target market for this new anti-aging powerhouse. Its mission is three-fold:

  1. repair wrinkles
  2. refirm contours
  3. redensify skin.

Yes! Those are my three primary goals (along with fading my remaining stubborn dark spots).

The key ingredient is hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate – though it’s listed midway in the ingredient list). For me, HA is the price of entry. I wish they had called out what other anti-aging ingredients, if any, were in it. I think HA is a miracle ingredient in terms of hydration and giving skin a plumped appearance that lessens the look of wrinkles. But HA isn’t the one that comes to mind for smoothing and firming skin.

So what’s it like to use it? The cream itself is very rich, hydrating and very comforting to wear. L'Oreal Revitalift Triple-Power Deep-Acting Moisturizer cream, neversaydiebeauty.com

Frankly, it will be perfect for me once the cold weather returns. Right now at the height of summer, it’s too heavy for me. We were supposed to use it twice a day, but I just couldn’t. Because it doesn’t have SPF, I needed to wear a separate sunscreen with it, and as a result it became even heavier, too heavy for daytime. This will be my go-to anti-aging night cream in November.

The results that we were supposed to see were:

  • after one week, less obvious wrinkles
  • after one month, younger, smoother, more lifted skin.

I used L’Oreal Revitalift Triple-Power Deep-Acting Moisturizer for almost a month, though only once a day. My skin feels very nicely hydrated. But I don’t see any dramatic changes yet beyond that. I may try continuing to use this specifically along my jaw line to see if it helps firm and lift my skin in that key area where I could use some help.

L’Oreal Revitalift Triple-Power Deep-Acting Moisturizer contains 1.7 oz. and is priced at $24.99. It has a very faint slightly sweet scent that is unnoticeable when I apply it.

Does this Triple-Power hydrating moisturizer sound like one you would try?

  2. My mom LOVES Revitalift, this is one of her favorite anti-aging lines from the drugstore. Even though I spoiled her with fancy stuff, she still goes back to her trusted faves.

    1. The Revitalift line is a good one. I still have favorites in that line as well.

  3. I hope you’ll do a follow up post during the winter months to see if it truly works.

    1. I am going to put this moisturizer away till winter because it is too rich/heavy for 90 degree and humid weather like we’re having now. I know I’ll like the hyaluronic acid and the richer cream then. But I will be curious to see if it helps firm my jaw line. If I see that happen, you can be sure I’ll be writing about it! Hope it happens 🙂

  4. I need to start looking into face creams like this as I am now in my thirties, and I will definitely be on the hunt for one with SPF. Thank you for such a concise, thorough, and honest review!

  6. I like your honesty in explaining why you aren’t going to see major differences. Like you I’ve been using skincare for many many days and I’m not going to notice dramatic differences. Yet I know that there are differences in how my skin looks, feels and performs under makeup.

  7. I’ve tried this before and it was a little too rich for my skin. It’s so hard to see a difference in pictures of skincare–the changes are too subtle to be caught with a camera.

    1. It’s too rich for my skin now in summer, but it will be perfect for me during a New England winter. In terms of changes to my skin, there weren’t any. Frankly, other than hydration and a little wrinkle softening, I don’t expect dramatic changes 😉

  8. I have seen several people use this product, but I never tried it! I will need to try it now, it sounds pretty interesting!

    1. It’s great for hydrating dry skin!

  9. I think the formula sounds better during winter time. When I was still working at Galderma (partly owned by L’Oreal & Nestle then), I know that Galderma and L’Oreal share the same R &D, anything L’Oreal and Lancome make go straight to consumers, Galderma to prescription category. L’Oreal does invest a lot in R &D

    1. As a market researcher, I got to work with the marketing and occasionally the R&D folks at P&G and Unilever and also L’Oreal international, and it was amazing how much they spent back then on R&D and how they were always looking for the next big ingredient or formula

  10. The research on deep red being associated with mature sophistication is very interesting. It reminds me of what my Gran once said: “Sapphires and emeralds may be for youngsters; it takes a mature woman to pull off ruby.”

    1. Wow, that’s amazing, Renu! I think she is very right!

  11. It’s refreshing to read an honest review of a product with all it’s drawbacks along with the positives. Though I prefer using home-made concoctions or at least ayurvedic ones, I have used L’Oreal moisturizing products off and on, and find them to tick quite a few boxes on the promises made.

    1. I’m curious about your homemade concoctions. I love DIY skincare

  12. In my experience these mass market moisturisers, no matter how expensive, just don’t deliver on promises. Improvement in hydration and softness is about all I’ve seen. Actual reversal or diminishing of aging signs always evade me. I’ll stick to actives!

    1. I’ll have to check out your blog in depth and see which actives are your faves!

  13. I’ve always want to try the Revitalift line! Now that I’m getting older, I have to be more aware of what products I use to keep my skin looking healthy. Thanks for sharing your review!

    1. You’re right, Nicole, starting young to take care of and protect and nourish your skin pays dividends down the road!

  14. I’ve been hearing a lot about this moisturizer lately. Sounds like it could be really nice for the drier months, like you were saying, when the skin needs something a bit richer. I’m curious to hear what you think after trying it longer & in a season where something heavier is needed!

  15. This formula sounds a bit too rich for my skin, but it sounds like it will be good for your skin during the winter. Thanks for letting us know that it is a great moisturizer, but that you don’t see dramatic changes beyond that!

    1. It is very rich, Helen, but the HA and rich, soothing cream will be good for my skin in the winter.

  16. Joanna says:

I did hear about this product before and the benefits it has on the skin. It is not for me, as I am too young to start using it but the benefits are definitely worth.

  17. As much as I love this brand, I agree, 2 weeks is too short for anti-aging products. Hopefully it works well long-term!

    1. Yes, I think it’s odd that they asked us to test it out for 14 days. Maybe hydration happens in 2 weeks but not wrinkle reduction, lol

  18. Great review you can really see the difference! Not something myself would use but will make a sly recommendation to my mum!

    1. Thanks, Abigail! I didn’t think I could see a difference. I think it was the lighting, lol. Nevertheless a nice anti-aging night cream for dry skin especially in colder weather for women over 40. Your mom might like it!

  19. I agree that 14 days isn’t long enough. 30 days at the very least 60 days to see full results (in my book). But I see a difference! And I have always loved this line from L’Oreal.

    1. I agree with you, Amber: at least 30, 60 days is better. I really couldn’t see any change but I don’t expect to in a short time period. Nevertheless, a nice rich anti aging night cream for older or dry skin in the winter. I’m a Revitalift fan too

  20. Great review! My mom has been trying this revitalift these days and she is loving it!

  21. You are ever so thorough in your reviews. I love the way you take your time to break it all down.

  22. It’s so important to take care of your skin, and this seems to be a very good product! Great advice in this post, and great photos!

    1. Thank you, Cecilia! L’Oreal Revitalift Triple-Power Moisturizer is a terrific anti-aging night cream for those of us with dry skin 🙂

  23. I too have been a long time fan of drugstore products. L’Oreal a brand I’ve used off and on over the years and been really happy with. Now that I’m over 40, anti-anging is definitly on my radar screen and this looks like something I’d like to try. I’m really suprised though that it doesn’t offer any sun protection. It seems like that’s become a standard now. Thanks for a great review! x

  24. L’Oreal is an awesome brand! I have been wanting to try out this product for a while. Maybe I’ll go out and by it.

    1. Take a look at this new moisturizer from L’Oreal Revitalift, Lisa, especially if your skin is dry or for the colder weather!

  25. Like you, I’ve always used store brand skincare products. I find to be just a s effective as the high-end brands. I may give this one a try!

  26. I love anything Loreal, and this looks like it would definitely be useful! I so wish I had started SPF’ing all the way back in high school and college. Of course, back then, we all think we’ll be young forever and don’t bother with great skin protection on a daily basis! I didn’t start really taking care of my skin until mid-30’s. Better late than never, right?

    1. Yes, I was exactly the same, Amy. That’s another reason why I wish L’Oreal had a daytime option of this hydrating moisturizer!

  27. I haven’t used much, in terms of skincare, from L’Oreal, but this sounds like a great option for those just getting into anti-aging products.

    1. Because it’s so rich and HA seems to be its key ingredient, it’s a good option for those with really dry or mature skin who are primarily looking for hydration.

  28. Tavana says:

I think I might recommend this to my mother. She’s into skin care and products/companies that actually deliver quality. Thanks for sharing.
