Lovecraft Beauty Eyeshadow Primer

In one of my recent empties posts, a reader told me she was looking for a new eyeshadow primer. I mentioned that I had been using Urban Decay Anti-aging Primer Potion for a long time, but I disliked the “not so new” application wand that they switched to several years ago from the regular squeeze tube.

Since that reader comment, I received a tube of Lovecraft Beauty Eyeshadow Primer in one of my Ipsy bags. Although LCB Eyeshadow Primer is currently sold out on their website, I think I may have found my new favorite.

Lovecraft Beauty appears to be a young brand for those who wear expressionistic makeup, e.g. Goth, alien, cosplay etc. People who spend a lot of time applying fanciful makeup that they want to last. I think that’s a good signal that the Lovecraft Eyeshadow Primer will be good for helping eye makeup stay on.

What I love about it is that it doesn’t have the dreaded wand that I always feel is preventing me from picking up enough primer. I just gently squeeze the old school plastic tube to squeeze out a tiny bit of primer. A little goes a long way.

The peachy-colored cream dries quickly, dries clear, but it somehow manages to camouflage my red eyelids. I love that.

Here’s what LCB says about the eye primer:

Prime and prepare your eyelids for optimum, long-lasting wear of your favorite eyeshadows with this VEGAN and cruelty free formula! Enhances pigmentation, prevents creasing and keeps your color where you put it!

• Prolongs Eyeshadow Performance
• Holds pigment in place
• 24-hour wear
• VEGAN Formula

They are right about the long-lasting formula. No creasing, no fading. My eyeshadow and liner stays on till I remove it.

The tube of LCB Eyeshadow Primer contains 8 ml and is priced at $15. You get 15% off with your first LCB purchase. I hope that it comes back into stock, though I still have plenty left.

The ingredients below list talc as the second ingredient. I have no problem with that, but some people like to avoid talc in their makeup. I had been a little concerned about switching from an “anti-aging” eyeshadow primer to one that doesn’t mention that. Although I have incredibly dry eyelids, LCB Eyeshadow Primer is not drying in the least. I apply it on top of my eye cream, and all is well.

Ingredients:  Isododecane, Talc, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Cyclopentasiloxane, VP/Eicosene Copolymer, Tridecyl Trimellitate, Trihydroxystearin, Polypropylsilsesquioxa, Propylene Carbonate, Phenoxyethanol, Silica

    1. I was surprised that it was just like the “old” Urban Decay AA PP that I loved!!

Wow. I’ve been looking for a “holy grail” eyeshadow primer and this might be it. Thanks!

    1. I really love the LCB eye primer because I don’t really like the wand and the stiff tube that UD switched to. I hope the LCB comes back in stock 🙂
