Macy’s Summer Beauty Bag Discounted

I like Macy’s, and I hope they’ll be able to stay in business as a brick and mortar store as well as an online business. What can I say, I still like to browse in a store and see the actual merchandise in person.

I was surprised when I discovered that Macy’s puts together a Beauty Bag of samples from a variety of brands from time to time. How did I not know about that? I guess it’s similar to Allure, Target and Walmart’s beauty bags.

I subscribe to “MySavings.com”, and I got a notice that the Macy’s Summer Beauty Bag is now discounted to $6.99 delivered  from the regular price of $15.

This is what you get:

What I’d be most interested in is the Clinique Moisture Surge which I adore, the Ahava Hand Cream and the Philosophy. Tiny single use sample packets don’t usually do it for me although I’ve heard great things about the Arden Eight Hour Miracle Oil products.

I also like the clear plastic makeup bag with the cute kisses.

Nevertheless, even at $6.99 delivered, I’m not sure that I consider this a great deal. Although Target and Walmart bags priced at $5 or $7.50 have drugstore rather than prestige brands like these, they tend to have deluxe samples, travel size or even full size products.

What do you think? Would you go for this or pass? Have you gotten any of Macy’s Beauty Bags in the past?

On a different note, congratulations to Teresa T., the winner of the Aveda Phomollient Styling Foam giveaway! Thanks as always to all who entered, and stay tuned for more Aveda giveaways as well as upcoming giveaways from Paula’s Choice, Amalie, and Sonia Kashuk for Target makeup brushes coming soon xoxo

  1. Surprisingly I really like the Purity cleanser but I can’t use it everyday as it’s too drying on the skin. I am not a fan of EA Eight hour cream, it’s way too thick and greasy for my liking.

    1. I haven’t tried either the Purity cleanser or the EA 8 Hr cream though I’ve heard a lot about it. I have a feeling I would like the EA cream for the winter. I’m glad to learn from you that Purity cleanser can be drying – for me, that would be a no-no too. I’m passing on this bag, but I like Ahava hand cream (though I don’t need any) and I would like that travel size jar of Clinique Moisture Surge. I know that Macy’s often sells travel size jars/tubes of skincare they sell, but they’re usually priced around $10 each so in that case, the Macy’s beauty bag is a good price if you can use the stuff, and we who are drowning in skincare don’t really need it.

  2. What a cool bag! If I didn’t have so many samples and unopened products I would probably buy this, but I am overwhelmed my the amount of products that I currently have!

    1. I feel exactly the same way, Helen. For $7, the Macy’s bag is probably worth it especially for the three travel size products. But like you, I didn’t really need these things though I’m a definite fan of Clinique Moisture Surge and I hadn’t tried this particular variety

I had no idea that Macy’s had a Beauty Bag. At first I was excited for the price point….but I don’t like fragrance or single use packets so I will be passing. On another note, before I head to Macy’s tomorrow to pick up a free MAC lipstick do you know if Ulta is also participating?

    1. My guess is that only retailers that carry MAC in the stores will be participating, Sandy. The Ulta nearest to me doesn’t have MAC products in the store so I doubt they’ll have the free lipsticks. I am planning to go to Macy’s in my area and see if their MAC department in the store has it because the nearest dedicated MAC store is quite a ways away. I hope we both manage to get one!! And I too didn’t know that Macy’s had a beauty bog. I think it’s a generally good idea, but I didn’t think the contents of the bag were worth getting, even at $7. No wonder they took 50% off the price. Hope they’ll do better next time. But I thought it was worth pointing out to folks that Macy’s has a beauty bag 🙂

Morning 🙋🏻☕️ I have finally gotten my addiction to buying and trying different beauty products 💅🏻💄under control. It took a long time but I finally did it. I was so so out of control. After cleaning out my “stash” of beauty products half used I said “enough is enough!” It feels really good……! The money 💰💰that I am saving will go towards my next ticket to Maui. 😱

    1. DiEtta, you’re right to reign in spending on cosmetics and save toward your trip to Maui! We were hoping to go to Maui last year, and I got sick and wasn’t able to handle the long plane ride from the East Coast. Hopefully soon though. I have never been to HI and I’d love to go. Sounds like it’s a return trip for you!

  5. I loved visiting Macy’s when I was in the US back in 2012 – I do hope they stay in business!

    1. Me too, Renu. We’ll have no department stores left 🙁

  6. I’ve used Purity for years, it’s one of my fave cleansers.

    1. Can you believe I’ve never tried anything from Philosophy? I’ll have to try a sample of Purity one of these days

  7. Even at the reduced price it’s sadly not a bargain. Maybe if you were just starting out it would be a better buy.

    1. Absolutely right!

  8. Oh my gosh, how fun! I had no idea Macy’s did this either. Perhaps a major blogger campaign would do them some good 😉

  9. I think I’d pass on this (although, the bag is quite cute!) I think the average person (who doesn’t already have a ton of products) would love this though.
