MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Liquid Foundation

I thought I had found my HG liquid foundation quite a while ago.

I really love Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation. It’s lightweight, it covers well, and Sand is almost a perfect match for my skintone. But my head has been turned by another liquid foundation, MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Foundation.

A few weeks ago, I wrote about my undying love for MUFE Ultra HD Stick Foundation.

It’s still my favorite for everyday and for the colder weather because

  1. it’s so darn fast to apply and blend in
  2. it acts as foundation and concealer in one
  3. the stick form is heavier than liquid.

As much as I love the Stick Foundation, I was eager to try the liquid version of Ultra HD.

A few years ago, an SA at Sephora recommended MUFE Mat Velvet+ for me, and it really was not the right foundation for this dry-skinned gal. I don’t need matte anything! So I was happy when the MUFE Ultra HD liquid foundation came my way.

Here’s how the liquid MUFE Ultra HD Foundation is described: “Developed specifically for the film and TV industry’s most advanced technology, Ultra HD Liquid Foundation creates a naturally flawless complexion—on and off camera. Completely invisible under the latest, super-focused 4k lens, this revolutionary foundation features uniquely-coated pigments that provide medium to buildable coverage with an even lighter weight, second-skin texture that looks just like skin.”

Plus it’s great for wearing in photographs!

Although MUFE says it provides medium to buildable coverage, if I dab just a bit more on my two most visible dark spots, they are covered well enough that I don’t have to bother with concealer. I like to apply this foundation with either a blending sponge or a flat kabuki brush.

What I love about this foundation is that it suits my older and drier skin. The formula has hyaluronic spheres suspended throughout, and it feels comfortable to wear on my dry skin. Also it doesn’t seem to sink into my wrinkles as much, though I wear it over primer most but not all of the time.

Another thing that’s great about MUFE Ultra HD Foundation is that it comes in 40 shades! That’s right, 40. There’s gotta be a match for almost everyone with that many shades. There are quite a few pale options and deep options with about a million in between, with yellow, pink and neutral undertones. I’m wearing shade 115=R230 Ivory. That’s the same shade that I wear in the stick foundation.

If I’m going someplace, I’ll put on a little more to cover the dark spots on my nose. But overall, I think it’s an excellent match for my skin now, at the end of winter. We’ll see how it looks once I start spending more time outdoors. In the meantime, I keep reaching for this terrific, lightweight but hydrating foundation. Oh yes, it doesn’t appear to have any SPF, so wearing sunscreen is a necessity.

MAKE UP FOR EVER UltraHD Foundation comes in a heavy plastic pump bottle. A little goes a long way. $43 for 1 fl. oz./30 ml. Sold at Sephora, Ulta Beauty, the MAKE UP FOR EVER website, and other fine retailers. It will last me a loooooong time.

Have you tried MUFE UltraHD Foundation? If so, what did you think?

I swear by their regular microfinish powder (usually get the pressed one) and thought about finally trying one of their foundation formulations during the vib sale…but now that it’s here I can’t decide which shade to get. I’m usually a really good judge thanks to google and many a helpful blogger (thank you!!!) but for some reason I can’t manage this time. Hopefully if I can just FIND the sample I’ve got SOMEWHERE around here of the first shade I thought a possible match, maybe that will help me narrow the field before the sale is over. In the meantime I went ahead and repurchased my current Nars shade.
Living an hour from Sephora or any other beauty counter is very inconvenient at times.
Which is probably why I hit rouge level last year- late night online shopping! Lol

    1. That really is a drag, Rach. Not being able to try on a shade is a real liability especially when they have 40 shades to choose from! But I’m glad you’ve had good luck with NARS. I haven’t tried their foundations yet. Someday I will. I’m lucky or maybe not that both Ulta and Sephora are less than 10 miles away. The Ulta coupon and the birthday gift coupon are burning holes in my pocket today 😉

  2. Unfortunately for me the Ultra HD foundation is by far the only MUFE product that I couldn’t get along with. It seems to sit on top of my skin and doesn’t blend in, I do love the finish on you though.

    1. Yay, I’m glad you like it too. I get quite good coverage from this foundation, but it is as light as a feather!

  9. This is my all time favorite foundation for both every day and special events. I have problem skin and it covers everything all day like a dream. Of course it’s hella expensive so I can’t afford to always have it on hand, but when I’m able, it’s the one thing I’ll buy with a Sephora gift card!

    1. Yes, makeup artists use MAKE UP FOR EVER all the time for models and people on television, probably theater actors too. It definitely doesn’t give the white look in photos.
