At this time of year, my thoughts turn to gifts. Whenever I see something, I’m always thinking would this be a good gift for someone on my list…or truth be told, for me! 😈
So I was very happy to have a chance to try the autumn collection of soy candles from Old Factory. I love candles because of the atmosphere they create. In fact, Jeff and I have dinner by candlelight just about every night!
And the other reason why I adore candles is because of the scent. I am a fragrance junkie!
Old Factory sells collections of 3 two ounce candles, each in a small glass jar, that arrive in an attractive old-fashioned/handmade-looking cardboard box with the Old Factory logo.
For me, the candles are the perfect size. They last for quite a while (the company says 20 hours), but not so long that I’m wishing I could go on to a new set of scents (like the big jars I owned previously). I often like to change scents with the seasons.
And Old Factory candles gift sets have a lot of variety. There are about 12 themed collections with related scents. Here are a few examples:
- Fall Harvest: the collection that I ordered: Spiced Pumpkin, Cranberry, Autumn Leaves
- Coffee Shop: Coffee Bean, Hazelnut, Chai Tea
- Fresh Scent: Lemongrass, Fresh Linen, Olive Blossom
- Romance: Rose Petals, Champagne, Dark Chocolate
- Spa Day: Cucumber, Lemongrass, Green Tea
- Winter Wonderland: Hot Cocoa, Roasted Chestnut, First Snow
I love the scents in the Fall Harvest collection. Old Factory candles are made with high-quality fragrance oils, and the scents are fabulous. For me, the Pumpkin Spice is the star. The fragrance is so delicious, it literally smells like a pumpkin spice cake. Yum! And it’s fun to have three different scents that I can burn in different rooms of the house.
In spite of my love of candles, I have to be careful because I have asthma. Some candles can make me cough or give me that tightness in my throat and chest. Old Factory candles are made with natural soy wax, and they burn clean. No smoke.
Another benefit is that Old Factory candles stay clean in the jar.
My old jarred candles used to turn black with soot at the top after I blew them out, and they looked awful after only a couple of uses. Old Factory candles stay clean and maintain their off-white color. Wow, I never knew that there was a type of candle that would not turn black! This was big news to me!
What about the gift factor? I ordered the candles from Old Factory gift-wrapped. I placed my order prior to the holiday season so they arrived in a beautiful blue box with a yellow ribbon. There was a utilitarian gift card attached that sported the Amazon smiley logo. The Old Factory cardboard box inside was covered by tissue paper. It made for a very nice presentation. I think Old Factory candles would be a fabulous gift for any candle or scent lover.

These really are cozy-house perfection– especially since they burn clean. I love burning candles, but so many fill the house with air pollution!

These are the first candles from Old Factory as well as the first soy candles I’ve ever tried. What a difference! The clean-burning thing really is a big deal for me. And the scents are wonderful. I wish I could buy a large size in the Spiced Pumpkin. I just adore it.
I love lighting candles at home because it gives me a cozy feeling. These sound great.

I really love these soy candles. I hated that the candles I used to buy turned the jar black after I blew them out. These look so clean and pretty even after many uses. Yay

I don’t know, Jessica, how you’d do with these scented candles then. They are made from natural essential oils, but a scent is a scent. For scent lovers like me, the spiced pumpkin is a really good one!

Yes, lots of us have tried ’em out. I really do love mine. Because of the clean burning soy, they are much better than the candles I had been using. And especially love the Spiced Pumpkin scent, yum
I want to smell the leaves one! Those kinds of scents are usually right up my alley. The not-smoking part sounds good too because I’ve got asthma as well. Some cause me problems even without the smoke, but every little bit helps!
I feel funny saying this, Rach, but the leaves scent is my least favorite of the three perhaps because it’s so hard to capture the smell of burning leaves. It has a scent, but I’m not sure what it smells like. The spiced pumpkin was my fave, then cranberry which has a fresh sort of berry scent, then the leaves. I wish I could smell the other 12 scent sets! I hear the coffee lovers collection and the romance with chocolate also smell great. But the main thing is the “clean burning” thing. In addition to being able to breathe, I love that the inside of the jar doesn’t turn black!

Hmmm… i do wonder how they would be able to capture the scent of leaves in a candle and that is why I did not choose this one. I would love the Pumpkin spice though I’m sure.

Yeah, we used to burn leaves when I was a kid, and they basically smell like smoke. These do not. But the Pumpkin Spice is to die for. I wish I had a huge jar of that one!
