Mega Project Pan Empties: July-September 2023 Pt. I

I found the bag where I was storing my empties from last summer. Finally, I am eager to recycle them and start to clear out my bathroom closet, as well as to close out the year on Project Pan 2023!

As usual, my two big categories were Skincare and Bath & Body. Because there are a lot of products, I think I will do Bath & Body, Makeup, and Hair & Nails today and then Skincare tomorrow. Here’s the photo of everything from July through September!

Bath & Body

  • RITUALS The Ritual of Dao Balancing Foaming Shower Gel: I’ve been using RITUALS Shower Gels for years. I love the soft scents, many of which including the Ritual of Dao are quite similar: soft and powdery. The shower foam that gets created as it comes out of the pressurized can is great to use as a shaving foam. Recommend? Although the can sometimes misbehaves and it can be difficult to get the foam out, I forgive RITUALS because I like the product so much. Yes, I recommend the Foaming Shower Gels (though The Ritual of Dao has been discontinued). I just bought a 3-pack in a different scent during their Winter Sale.
  • Eucerin Advanced Repair Lotion: Eucerin Advanced Repair Lotion, that’s more like a creamy body butter, is my go-to drugstore brand for my extra-dry skin. It contains ceramide to help repair the skin barrier to help my skin hold on to moisture longer, and I think it has worked. I no longer get the scaly dry skin I once had. Recommend? A strong and enthusiastic yes!
  • Spongelle Heart-Shaped Body Wash Infused Buffer: Spongelle Body Buffers are great little beauty tools that easily hang on a hook in the shower and help exfoliate your skin on the regular. And the smell great, too. The heart-shaped one is, of course, my fave! Recommend? Yes, and there are several different scents and sizes now for Valentine’s Day. Plus, they are on sale.
  • South of France (now branded “SoF” Natural Body Bar, Glazed Apricot: South of France Natural Body Care, located and manufactured in the U.S., makes body bars in the French milled soap tradition. The oval-shaped bars are large, solid, and last for ages. The soaps make luxurious lather, and they don’t dry out your skin. Recommend? Yes. Excellent, affordable soap that’s a treat to use. BTW, someone sued South of France saying they were misled by their name, thinking it was made in France. All they had to do was look on the packaging, but there has been a settlement and South of France is now known as SoF.
  • Molton Brown Shower Gel, Coastal Cypress & Sea Fennel, travel size: I bought a sampler set of travel size Molton Brown Shower Gel quite a while ago, and this was maybe the last bottle in the set. I loved the aqua color of this shower gel, but I didn’t really love the Coastal Cypress & Sea Fennel fragrance. It was too masculine for me. Oh well, at least I know not to be a full size of that scent. Recommend? Yes, if you’re looking for a gift for a man who likes an excellent shower gel or for yourself if you like a manly scent. No, it doesn’t smell like the ocean which is what I had hoped. 😉 However, if you are looking for sophisticated, luxurious, fragranced shower gels, Molton Brown is your solution!

Hair & Nails

  • DefenAge 150K Hair Follicle Serum: As I mentioned in my December 2023 Project Pan report, I finished up my 3 serum vials. I also mentioned that the baby hairs seem to have disappeared or lessened once I stopped using the DefenAge Hair Follicle Serum. Fortunately and generously, the folks at DefenAge are going to send me some more. Recommend? Well, it worked for me! If you shop any of the products from DefenAge, sign up for their Loyalty Program so you can get a substantial discount.
  • Olive & June Super Glossy Top Coat: My favorite glossy top coat ever! Plus a coat of this every couple of nights on top of my O&J Nail Polish makes my mani last and last! Recommend? Enthusiastically yes!

Makeup

  • trestique Concealer Crayon, shade Porcelain, travel size: This is the perfect shade match concealer from trestique that I have been waiting for for a year, at this point! I bought the full size trestique Concealer Crayon in Bone because they didn’t have Porcelain, and I was so disappointed. Bone was too yellow, too warm and not a match at all. Boo. Recommend? I definitely recommend trestique Concealer Crayon because it’s a cinch to use and lasts well. If you can find your color, go for it! They sell refills too.
  • Chella Good Drama Mascara, mini/travel size: I prefer using a travel or mini size mascara from whichever brand I buy because I have a better chance of using it up in the recommended 3 months time than a full size mascara that gets tossed before I have finished it. I am a big fan of Chella Good Drama Mascara and buy it repeatedly because it’s a very good, lengthening mascara, though Chella says it is volumizing as well. It doesn’t clump and it’s great for everyday. Recommend? If you like a lengthening mascara, Chella is one of the best. In addition, Good Drama Mascara comes in 4 shades: black, navy, brown, and burgundy.

Project Pan Semi-Final Update

If I include November and December empties, I start out at 98 empties without including July-September. If I add the 9 beauty empties I just reviewed, that brings me to 107 empties before I post Part II of the missing summer months.

I went back to my December 2022 Project Pan end of year update, and in 2022 I used up 148 beauty products. Yikes, I must have had a busy year in 2022! And I foolishly set an ambitious goal for 2023 of 135 empties. Looks like I’m not going to make it, but we’ll see what Part II brings!

As usual I enjoy reading these posts and if you’ll repurchase. I used up several
items in December and miss them. I’ll buy Vitabrid Wrinkle Serum when I’m home.

    1. Vitabrid Wrinkle Serum was on sale at the Vitabrid website at a huge discount. I love that serum, too, but I still have some more in my bottle. Hopefully, they’ll have another sale before next Christmas!

  2. So many empties, well done Allison!! I spy some of my own favorites here, including Eucerin body lotion, Rituals body wash, and Molton Brown body wash.
