Those of us in the US are enjoying a long Memorial Day weekend, but we stop to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the armed forces.
Usually there are veterans at the supermarket collecting donations for retired or disabled veterans and handing out poppies, but this year there wasn’t. I wonder if the veterans, usually men who served in WWII or Korea, are too old? too few? I was sad not to see them there, and sad not to get a poppy, a symbol from WWI.
What are you doing this weekend? We’ve gotten together with friends for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights, and this afternoon, we’re going to a graduation party. Busy, busy.
