Milani Awakening Rose Powder Blush

I couldn’t resist. I had to pick up one of the new Milani rose powder blushes that have come out for summer 2015. I already own several of these beauties, and I’ve reviewed the Milani rose blushes previously. There are three new limited edition shades for Summer 2015: American Beauty Rose – shade 9, Awakening Rose – shade 10 and Blossomtime Rose – shade 11.

In my local CVS, they are tucked in on the side of the regular Milani display, though I have heard that some stores have an LE display. I chose Awakening Rose because it looked like a great fall shade. It’s a browned pink with a slight gold shimmer, a rather different shade and finish from the others that I already own that are satins and mattes.

In the past, I’ve had some fallout with the Milani rose blushes, but not so with this one. With some of the bright or deep Milani blushes, I apply with a stippling brush, but a regular blush brush is fine to apply this one. The shade is a neutral so I’m not worried about applying too much. It lasts on me for many hours. I love the slight golden shimmer.

As I’ve mentioned before, I adore the embossed rose on the powder blush. To me, it’s like a personal little sculpture. I just love looking at it.

At the CVS that I finally found Awakening Rose at in my area, Milani powder blush was priced at around $9 or so. Luckily, I had a CVS 30% off promotion and a few Extrabucks to get the price down. The Milani limited edition rose blushes are available at CVS, Walgreens, drugstore.com, and the Milani website, and the MSRP is $7.99. Milani limited editions are very difficult to find where I live so I had to go to 4 stores to find this shade. But I’m glad I finally found it!

Also, I noticed that the ingredients are different on the Awakening Rose that I bought compared to the rose blushes in the permanent, previous limited editions and even the limited edition ingredients on the Milani website. There are no parabens listed in the ingredient list on the back of the compact I bought, but there are on the Milani website. Oh well, I’m not losing sleep about it either way, but it’s something I noticed.

The compact is 0.60 oz./17g – it’s a big compact like the other rose blushes and contains a LOT of blush! It’s made in Italy. Milani is not tested on animals.

Have you tried any of the Milani rose powder blushes? Which is your favorite shade?

  21. Nataile Brown says:

This blush is so pretty & really is a lovely Autumn shade! I purchased one of these LE’s too but can’t think of the name right now. lol It’s pinker than this one and, yes, I apply it with a stippling brush. I also got it with some Extra Bucks. Aren’t they the best?!

    1. Yes, I looked at the other two as well but this shade was different from the other blushes I own. All three were so pretty! I had to go to 3 stores looking for this one! I’m glad you picked one up too, Natalie! Have you seen the LE Dolce Bronze Collection in your area? I’m still on the hunt for it

      1. Natalie Brown says:

I haven’t seen that collection either. Although, I don’t use bronzer type products so I may not have really been looking. Limited Edition products?! The one that always gets me hunting everywhere are the seasonal Color Tattoo’s. They’re always either not carried at all or they’re all sold out and I live in Florida, there’s a CVS or a Walgreen’s every couple of blocks. lol

        1. The Milani Dolci Bronze Collection may have a bronzer but it’s a color collection with eyeshadow, lipstick, lipgloss, bronzer, blush, and maybe nail polish all in shades of bronze, copper and rose gold. As a redhead, I neeeeeeeed this collection but it’s nowhere to be seen in these parts. I’m going to try the big Walgreens tomorrow, but I’m not holding my breath. I may have to order on the website 🙁 The lipstick looks incredible!! Now, are there seasonal Color Tattoos out yet? I have been looking but I’m still seeing the old shades. Have you heard anything about new ones???

          1. Natalie Brown says:

I’ve seen the Milani collection on blogs and the eye shadow looks like a super pretty rose-gold. I’d for sure use that shade. So sad about ordering online but at least it’s available. My Sister is a redhead too so she would love this collection. I’ll have to let her know about it. I haven’t heard anything about new seasonal collections of the Color Tattoo’s. Just, in general, I have a hard time finding them and end up getting the shades I want on Ebay (after the prices go down – lol)

          2. Thanks, Natalie. I’ll be keeping an eye out for new Color Tattoos. Last year, they came out with the new ones in July for Fall, and they came out with the Spring shades in March, I think. They should be releasing some new ones, I would think! Do tell your sister about the Dolci Bronze collection so she can hunt for them too, lol!!

  22. These rose shaped blushes are some of my favorites from Milani.

  23. Valerie C. says:

It looks beautiful on you! I walked by these at CVS last week and now I wish I picked one up. I’ll look for this shade now,. The hint of gold sounds so nice.

    1. When I saw this fall-leaning shade, Valerie, I couldn’t pass it up plus I had the 30% off coupon and a couple of Extrabucks! I’m glad I got it because I don’t really have any or many neutral-ish blush shades and the hint of gold shimmer is really pretty. Next time, I’ll pair it with a more peachy or orange lipstick instead of the pomegranate lip crayon from Jordana that I adore but that reads purpley-red. See what you think about Awakening Rose next trip to CVS. I’m also on the hunt for the Milani LE Dolce Bronze collection. Has it made it to your area? We almost never get the LEs on the North Shore.

  24. Valerie C. says:

I’ll look for the Dolce Bronze this week. It’s funny….I’m such a newbie here. We’ve only lived in MA a few months and I’m still exploring different areas. I guess we are south shore right now. The 2 CVS I’ve been to are ok, but, don’t offer as much as I’d like.

    1. I agree, Valerie. There are quite a few CVS stores near where I am on the North Shore, but they different widely in terms of what they carry. Sometimes one of the smaller CVS stores closest to me has the best and most LEs but often I’m driving around looking for stuff. Milani limited editions are difficult to find in my area unfortunately as is anything from Jordana, the sister brand. Maybe I’ll try the big Walgreens on Rte 114 in Peabody near the North Shore Mall. I’m running out of ideas.

  25. I went on the hunt for some of the LE blushes and Amore Liquid lippies, and none of my local CVS stores had an LE display. 🙁

    1. Bethany, you should definitely try something from Milani. I think it’s often the most interesting brand in the drugstore! All of the rose powder blushes are great and so are the baked blushes. The eye shadow singles are wonderful and pigmented in fab shades, and I like the nail polish too. And quite a few of the eyeliners!
