Yesterday was a sunny day with the temperature at 50 degrees, north of Boston in January. No, there’s no climate change, lol. But the balmy winter weather helped melt some of the snow on my lawn, and made me really miss the beach. It’s almost 4 months since I planted myself on the sand, and more than 4 months till I do that again.
So I hopped in the car, ostensibly to return a purchase in Gloucester, but while I was driving, I forgot where I was supposed to be going and I ended up at the beach. No surfers, but plenty of dog walkers. Lots of cars with folks enjoying the view.
One way that I can recapture that beachy relaxed frame of mind is through the bath products I use in the shower.
Temple Spa La La Lagoon Shower Gel
Recently, I wrote in my empties post that I finally finished up a deluxe size tube of Temple Spa La La Lagoon Shower Gel that I got as a hotel amenity some time ago. I fell in love with the fresh beachy scent, but the UK brand Temple Spa wasn’t sold in the U.S. Well, now it is, and I took advantage of their free shipping offer during the holiday to buy some more. It arrived a week ago, so I’m back in business so to speak. The scent seems a little different than in my old tube, but if anything, it’s fresher and even beachier than I remembered. It’s a very nice, non-drying shower gel that produces just enough suds. Sold on the Temple Spa website, 6.8 oz. $18.
Nature Island Botanicals
Nature Island Botanicals as a brand was inspired by owner Daphne’s time living on the Caribbean island of Domenica where she trained as an esthetician. Here booth at the waterfront festival I go to every summer looks like a beach hut.
The year I bought a bar of her new handmade, natural soap, Ocean. I love the calming color of this beautiful soap that Daphne crafted with seashells and “sand” on the top. The “sand” appears to be either salt or sugar, and it acts as a light exfoliant. The Ocean scent is as clean as an ocean breeze. This soap, priced around $10, is so big that I cut it in fourths. It’s very hydrating and lathers very well.
Next is my perennial favorite from NIB, Caribbean Escape coconut body butter. This is the scent of summer. It smells just like a pina colada. I am truly transported whenever I use this hydrating fragrant body butter. The consistency is just perfect: mid weight, easy to apply, quick to absorb, highly moisturizing. I adore this stuff! Price about $25. To order, call Daphne at 954-646-4005.
So I’m making believe I’m at the beach till it’s time for the real thing. How about you? What do you do to simulate summer, or are you a fan of winter and snow?
That beach picture is so beautiful, I love empty beaches! And I am jealous of that temperature!
I hate winter and I am already looking forward to spring!

Thank you, Agata! Our weather has been crazy so far this winter, ricocheting back and further between cold and snow and warm and melting. But I am with you. I’m definitely looking forward to spring!
These sound lovely, and that picture of the beach is stunning! It has been quite cold and rainy here lately as well. I am already really wanting spring to arrive!

Yes, I’ve heard that the weather out west is definitely different than usual. I know Cali can use the rain so maybe it’s not so bad.
I’m a Spring and Autumn girl, the perfect temperature without anything too extreme. I do miss hanging out by the beach though, you make me miss Summer with this post. LOL!

The ocean looked so pretty these past few days with the sun on it even though the water itself looks wintry: gray and green instead of blue. Hopefully we’ll have an early spring this year! Do you get a lot of snow in Canada where you live?
We never get snow but this year it’s been snowing a lot! Still trying to clear the last batch of snow/ice from the street. 🙁

Your beach pictures are so pretty! I just got back from a beach vacation in Mexico. It was delightful! I’d love the coconut product since it’s probably one of my favorite scents of all.

Oh, how lucky, Stacie! I am so ready for a beach vacation but I just submitted my passport for renewal. So my pipe dream of going to Guadaloupe will have to wait. I’ll have to be content with beachy bath and body products 😉 The NIB Caribbean Escape Coconut Body Butter is absolutely wonderful. I’ve been addicted to it for almost 10 years!
Now you’ve got me itching for summer! These products sound really nice.

Thanks, Kristina! So far I shouldn’t complain about this winter, but then I remember the winter of 2015 so I shouldn’t say anything yet!
Oh Allison, your post and these products make me long for sunscreen and sundresses!!! All of this sounds amazing, but the soap in particular sounds great. I really love supporting small business owners when it comes to Bath and body like this!!

I feel the same way about bath and body products from craftspeople. I’ve been buying soap and lotions from Nature Island Botanicals for 13 years, I think. I love her stuff!
With the gloom and low temperatures locally it’s a pleasure to read about these summery scents and see the beach. I’m glad you’ve found some products that are this nice.

I love the variety that we can find in bath & body products. So nice to be able to change one’s mood with a nice but not overpowering scent 🙂
So gorgeous! I need to go to the beach soon.

I love anything tropical scented, so this sounds pretty great1 I have Body Shop coconut stuff on the go so I can pretend it’s not quite as cold and terrible outside. It doesn’t work very well though 😀

I hear ya! We took a long walk by the ocean yesterday, and though it was pretty, I was freezing. I need a Caribbean beach now!
This is such an underrated brand!

I’d love to try some more Temple Spa products. It was a couple of years ago that I got these samples as amenities at a hotel. Wish I could remember what the body lotion was like!
