I’m watching the documentary, The America Buffalo, on PBS. I think it came out a year or so ago, but I never got to see it. It’s a wonderful documentary about how the America buffalo almost disappeared but was saved by forward thinking white men and, of course, native American men and women. It’s amazing to see not only photographs from the 19th century but moving pictures from the early 20th century. They showed photos and moving pictures of the less than 20 bison that were sent by train from the Bronx Zoo that was started not only to preserve exotic animals but to save a breeding stock of bison. Truly worth seeking this Ken Burns’ documentary out!
