More Goodies from Olive & June

Today, I spent 5.5 hours working in my gardens. I seriously cut back two 21 year old azaleas that were blocking my dining room windows. I also decided they needed to be cut back because I had a tree company in the autumn cut down two very overgrown shrubs, and I realized that the azaleas had few leaves in the middle. They look a bit odd, but I’m hoping that they will grow new leaves now that they are exposed to the sun.

I still have more work to do, putting down mulch, trimming the bottom of the big Hinoki tree, but I’m making progress.

So after such a long day working outside, I’m exhausted. This is going to be a short post.

Olive and June Purchases

Finally, O&J Overnight Hand Treatment is back in stock. I have been waiting since January for it. It worked so well for me in the winter. I can hardly wait to use it tonight!

In fact, I didn’t realize that there is a $4 savings when buying two tubes of Overnight Hand Treatment. I think I’m going to go through my one tube so quickly that next time, I will buy the Overnight Hand Treatment Duo!

While I was ordering, I figured I should pick up a few other items. I needed a bottle of Super Glossy Top Coat, and I wanted to try O&J’s new sheer polish. I ordered spring-y This Lettuce Is Radicchio, a magenta-purple. After spending the day in the garden, I decided to try out the sheer polish right away. It is sheer even with two coats. I like it.

I also picked up a bottle of Cucumber Sandwich, a long lasting cream polish. It’s a beautiful, cool green that’s perfect for spring and summer.

It hurts to start cutting on a plant/bush! And when you stop you look at it and think OMG What have I done! But later when you see it start to get new leaves or flowers you know you did a good thing.

    1. This time, I knew it was a good thing. They were too tall and blocked my windows. Plus they were missing leaves in the middle anyway. Now, I have my fingers crossed that they will leaf out during the summer since the sun can get to them. But I know what you mean, Gloria. I can’t remember why, but a few years ago, I asked my friend Sue to cut back from white lilac. Finally this spring, it flowered. But because my neighbors planted their lilacs and other shrubs right on the property line, my poor white lilac grew back with a tall shoot (like about 15 ft high) with 3 blooms at the top!

5.5 hours! I couldn’t do that even when I was young. I know you take pride in your home so I’m sure that this work will pay off.

    1. I just found out today that between a weird power surge that happened 2 days ago and the roots from my gigantic rose of Sharon, I essentially need a new irrigation system. But so far, my gardens look pretty good!
