As the temperature has gotten colder, my nails that were very long this summer have started breaking. My two index fingernails started it. In response, I filed my other nails somewhat but not to as short as my index nails. Boo. Even taking biotin everyday and using cuticle and nail cream, the winter is tough on my nails. Oh well, not such a big deal. They’ll grow again in the spring.
I know that everyone is shifting into holiday colors of nail polish, but I was drawn to a lovely neutral shade that I saw on a nail blogger friend’s blog, Krystal from Polish Galore. She truly is a Morgan Taylor maven posting about that brand a lot.
The shade I bought, Hollywood’s Sweetheart, is from the Morgan Taylor Marilyn Monroe collection that launched a few months ago. The color is described on a variety of websites as “rosy pink cream”. I wouldn’t describe it that way. When I look at it in the bottle, I would describe it as a cool-toned light mauve taupe shade.
On my nails, sometimes it looks like a nude pink or shell pink shade, and other times it looks more mauve/taupe. I love it regardless!
I love the wider brush that makes application faster and easier. I put on two coats, but it almost looked like full coverage after one coat.
But how did it wear, you ask? Very well! Actually, better than most.
After a couple of days, I had a tiny chip at the top of each of my index fingers – the fingers I use the most and whose nails had recently broken unevenly. I fixed those chips, and I was good to go for another 4 days. So 6 days total. For me, that’s unheard of.
Morgan Taylor Hollywood’s Sweetheart comes in an attractive, heavy glass bottle that contains 0.5 oz. It’s MSRP is $9.50, but the price varies widely depending on where you buy it. Because he Marilyn Monroe limited edition collection has been out for a while now, it’s getting harder to find. Though Morgan Taylor is sold at Ulta, they don’t have this shade. Nevertheless, there are several sites online where I have found it.
I applied the Morgan Taylor React Base Coat first. I would say it’s a good base coat. I don’t know if it’s better than others, but it dries very quickly, and used with the Morgan Taylor polish, I have had good results.
When I ordered Hollywood’s Sweetheart, I also picked up a new topcoat that I had read about on some of the nail blogger blogs: Cuccio Super 7 Second Reactive Top Coat.
I thought the 7 second thing was a joke or a marketing gimmick. But I discovered that it was absolutely true. The Cuccio Super 7 Second Reactive Top Coat dried literally in a few seconds. It was shocking, and it was awesome! It was very glossy, too.
And I would say it did a good job helping delay chipping. Frankly, I have to get in the habit of applying another coat of top coat everyday after doing my mani and see if that would help prevent chips and make it last longer. Do you do that?

Love Morgan Taylor polish, that shade of polish is perfect. You can definitely wear that any time of year!
I’ve seen Morgan Taylor at Bed, Bath and Beyond but I don’t know what th currently have. That’s nice easy shade to wear. Do you feel a little like Marilyn now?

Morgan Taylor polishes are fantastic. Winter is hell on my nails too, it is so frustrating.
It’s all about chemistry. I can make my polish go a full week without chipping. Have you tried KBShimmer clearly on top?

The fact that Cuccio Super 7 Second Top Coat really does dry in seconds just blows my mind. I still don’t start doing the dishes after 7 seconds, lol, but it dries so fast compared to others

I love a really good quick dry top coat! I do my nails just before bed so fast dry times are important to me.
