Mother’s Day Gift Ideas for the Luxury Skincare Lover

This past year, many of us have been forgoing makeup, wearing less of it and not buying as much. We stayed home more, and when we did go out, we wore masks.

But our use of skincare products did not lessen. In fact, some of us actually upped our skincare game as we emphasized self-care at home.

With Mother’s Day less than two weeks away, you may wish to consider a gift of luxury skincare especially if you are shopping for a skincare enthusiast. I have a few luxury but highly effective cruelty-free brands to recommend that you may or may not be familiar with.

DefenAge Clinical Power Trio

DefenAge Clinical Power Trio is a perfect gift to introduce a skincare lover to this fab brand started in 2014 by doctors who work in the field of regenerative medicine. Their product line has been tested and the results of the clinical trials are available. DefenAge is used by and recommended by dermtologists. DefenAge’s skincare products feature Defensins, molecules that naturally awaken dormant skin cells and spark a wound-healing response to create new skin. Defensins are an excellent and better tolerated alternative to retinol.

The box includes three full size products that form the core of their product line:

  • 24/7 Barrier Balance Cream
  • 8-in-1 BioSerum
  • 2 Minute Reveal Masque.

This limited edition Clinical Power Trio includes a megasize version of their best-selling 8-in-1 BioSerum. That makes me really happy because now the Balance Cream and Serum that are used in tandem are both the same size so I am less likely to run out of the Serum before I get to the end of the Balance Cream bottle.

Another thing that’s different about DefenAge’s core products is how you use them. Instead of serum first and moisturizer second, DefenAge recommends using their duo backwards: Balance Cream first followed by 8-in-1 BioSerum, a serum that provides results equal to using 8 different serums. The 2 Minute Reveal Masque is a quick, easy to use, warming exfoliator that uses both chemical and physical exfoliators to remove dead skin cells. Because it is gentle, it can be used a couple of times a week to reveal fresh, bright skin.

The most economical way to purchase DefenAge is to create a free account on their website. After doing that, you will receive preferred pricing: deep discounts on all of the DefenAge products. They also have a 24 Hour Starter Kit that contains 2-3 day supplies of the Clinical Power Trio products so you can try them before you commit to full size, and if you create an account, the price of the 24 Hour Starter Kit is 50% off. Check out DefenAge here.

DefenAge products are cruelty-free and fragrance-free.

FACTORFIVE Skincare

FACTORFIVE Skincare is another science-based skincare line. Their products feature adult stem cells ethically derived from liposuction to stimulate the production of growth factors that allow cells to communicate better to restart processes for skin health and cell production. And FACTORFIVE doesn’t include just a small amount of stem cells. Instead they are either the first or second ingredient in the formulation.

FACTORFIVE Skincare is utilizes a three-step program:

FACTORFIVE skincare products are available in full sizes, or there is a Minis 5 Piece Gift Set that include a clear plastic travel bag and a spa headband.

I used up the mini size FACTORFIVE products just recently. They lasted me for about a month. Now, I am using a full size version of the excellent FACTORFIVE regenerative serum. I love it! Check out FACTORFIVE here.

Made without harsh chemicals, FACTORFIVE skincare products are cruelty-free and vegan. The regenerative serum and anti-aging cream have a light fragrance that is imperceptible on my skin.

You can save 20% off the purchase of $200 or more with the code LOVEMOM through April 30, 2021.

Typology Skincare

Typology Skincare is a vegan, cruelty-free brand of skincare made in France. Their products are minimalist products containing 10 ingredients or less that make them perfect for sensitive skin. They remind me of old school apothecary formulations because many of the products come in simple square glass dropper bottles or old school tubes. Importantly, all of their packaging is recyclable.

While Typology Skincare products are not priced like luxury skincare, to me it seems very much like a luxury brand.

While the products are sold individually, you can buy them in sets based on your skin’s needs:

or choose the products individually, and in Duos and Trios. In addition, there is a Diagnostic Test that will recommend the appropriate products for one’s skincare needs.

I have been using six of Typology’s oils, serums, and toner as well as one of their complexion soaps and their lovely cotton makeup removers. I will review those specific products soon, but I wanted you to know about this wonderful French brand that is free of harsh chemicals and is cruelty-free now when you may be considering skincare products for gifting.

Lumity

And lastly, don’t forget the wonderful glossy black, British Lumity 4-in-1 Cleanse that I wrote about recently here.
