My New Favorite Exfoliating Mask: V10 Plus Water Based Peeling Mask

PR Sample, I Bought This, Affiliate Links

For the past several years, I have been touting The Body Shop Drops of Youth Liquid Peel.

An effective and affordable clear gel mask, it is a chemical exfoliator that removes dead skin cells. I have been using it about once a week  or every 10 days since I discovered it as an alternative to a pricier version from the Japanese brand Skin Inc. that costs 4 times as much. Even though I am a devoted fan of TBS Drops of Youth Liquid Peel, there is one thing about it that bugs me: it has a peculiar sticky consistency that makes it a little difficult to remove especially from my fingers when I’m washing it off. Because of that, I often don’t use it as often as I should. So when I was contacted by the people at V10 Plus to try one of their masks, I was open to doing so.

V10 Plus is a brand of Japanese organic, all-botanical skincare developed 14 years ago by two sisters who grew up on their grandparents farm in Japan using the leftover sediment in the cooking water from rice as a facial mask. They saw how soft and smooth their skin was and they used that knowledge as the basis for their skincare line. Their award winning skincare brand V10 Plus has recently been introduced to the U.S. and Canada.

I received V10 Plus Water Based Peeling Rice Bran Extract & Seaweed Extract Exfoliating Mask as well as a bunch of small samples of other V10 Plus skincare products to try out.

V10 Plus Water Based Peeling Exfoliating Mask (for short, lol) comes in an attractive flat plastic tube. The mask is a clear gel. After cleansing my face, I apply a thin layer of the gel, wait about a minute, and make swirling motions or circles on my skin. As I do that, the gel takes off the dead skin cells and they form small whitish balls. After I have massaged the dead skin off of my face, I rinse with lukewarm water. The mask is absolutely gentle, and though my face feels clean afterwards, it is not at all tight or dry. I follow up with serum and moisturizer.

V10 Plus Exfoliating Mask contains two key natural ingredients:

  • Rice Bran Extract rich in antioxidants including tocopherol, squalene, polyphenols, phytosterols and more that fight free radicals and slow down the process of aging.
  • Seaweed Extract, another active ingredient, has natural healing and moisturizing properties.

Unlike TBS Drops of Youth Exfoliating Mask, the V10 Plus Water Based Peeling Exfoliating Mask does not have a sticky residue that’s hard to remove from my fingers or face. Yay!

The tube of V10 Plus Water Based Peeling Exfoliating Mask contains 50 ml and is priced at $44. It is sold on the V10 Plus website. Though it is more expensive than the version from The Body Shop, I must say that it is worth the extra money to me because it is so much easier to remove from my skin, making the process so much quicker and more pleasant so I am inclined to use it more often. BTW, V10 Plus suggests using the mask 2-3 times a week, and it is certainly gentle enough to do so.

If you sign up for emails on the V10 Plus website, you can receive 15% off your order. The products are made in Japan. They are shipped for free in the U.S. from their warehouse in Utah to decrease delivery time.

V10 Plus has 5 skincare series for different skincare issues:

  • antiaging series
  • hydrating series
  • whitening series
  • sensitive skin series
  • acne treatment series.

I am slowly making my way through the sample packets they sent. I think they include 2 ml samples with every purchase. So far, I have fallen in love with one of their priciest products, LX Advance Lifting Cream Treatment, a lightweight but hydrating cream that enhances the production of elastin and collagen, and BioCell Serum from their Anti-aging Series that also helps lift, tighten and prevent wrinkles.

I am very impressed with the products I have tried so far from V10 Plus. And truth be told, I will spring for the extra money to replace my tube of V10 Plus Water Based Peeling Exfoliating Mask when I run out. Honestly, it is worth the extra money to not have that sticky residue that’s so hard to remove with the TBS mask. Check out V10 Plus’ product line on their website. There’s a lot to love!

Also, thank you V10 Plus for sending me this cute baby blue polka dot hairband that coordinates with my winter bathrobe and makes using the V10 Plus Water Based Peeling Exfoliating Mask even easier to use xo

Allison this product sounds similar to a product I use by Peter Thomas Roth. I purchase it from QVC:

Peter Thomas Roth FirmX Peeling Gel, 3.4 fl oz. $38.00. Try it I think you might like it. I have used it for several years. It gets rid of all the dry skin on my face. I use this because I have dry flaky skin due to using Prescription RetinA. Leaves my face feeling smooth and moisturizer.

    1. I am a fan of PTR skincare so I will add it to the list to try, DiEtta. Thank you!

  2. I have several of these types of peels to go through– including the one from The Body Shop that we both love, but I want to try this one next! Thank you for introducing e to this very effective sounding product!

    1. I hope you like it as much as I do! I wonder if you have that issue with the sticky residue on your fingers that I do with the mask from The Body Shop?

  3. I love when PR sends an extra. It makes opening the package so much more fun. This exfoliating peel must be great since you are willing to spend extra when the time comes. It sounds quite impressive to me too.

    1. V10 Plus Water Based Peeling Mask is less expensive than Skin Inc and though more expensive, it is much easier to use than The Body Shop liquid Peel that has the strange residue that is difficult to remove from my hands. Yes, it’s a good one. I love that LX Lifting Cream too, but it’s out of my price range!

  4. Good to know it is easier to remove because that is the only thing I don’t like about TBS peel as well! Thanks for the thorough review.

    1. Yes, I wonder what ingredient in the TBS Liquid Peel makes it so sticky and hard to remove. I have used it for at least 3 years, but I am switching to V10 Plus now!

  5. I haven’t seen a water based mask before! I love being able to try new items for my skin and see how well it works. I had some masks here that ended up being TERRIBLE for my skin so it was nice to only have a sample size.
