Gimme all the bling! I have always loved jewelry probably since I was born. I have a lot of jewelry of all kinds, and I try to mix it up and wear all of it. Anything new and shiny or sparkly always catches my eye. And at holiday time, jewelry is always on my gift list for gifting to others and for me!
Recently, I was introduced to Messages In Metal, a jewelry company based in Montana that crafts in-house personalized necklaces and key chains from .925 sterling silver that is 1 mm thick, exceeding the industry standard. Necklaces can be crafted with colored stones that are especially perfect for Mother’s Necklaces, with a different colored stone for each child. There are lots of different styles of Mother’s Necklaces, and the style below is just one of them. I have to remember to recommend Messages In Metal when I do my Mother’s Day gift list post next spring. But in the meantime, a Mother’s Necklace would be a terrific holiday present right now.
Because of the huge selection of styles, it took me a while to decide which design I wanted to go with. I decided on my name in a contemporary font cut out of a vertical sterling silver bar. I think it looks so modern, and it’s different from anything I own. Truth be told, I’ve never had a name necklace, and now I do!
Every necklace comes with a 20″ chain that has an extender. Because I’m so short, I wear a shorter necklace. I asked Messages In Metal to send me a 16″ chain, and they happily complied.
It took about a week, I think, for me to receive my new necklace. It arrived in a black velvet presentation box.
I instantly loved it. It is definitely unlike anything else I own. Here it is on a green top.
And here I’m wearing it on a black top. Next time with this neckline, I will use the extender so the necklace hangs just a bit lower below the neckline.

I like name jewelry. I actually had a ring made when Zoe was born. It just has the letter Z on it, but it feels a little more special and I can give it to her later on.
This is absolutely gorgeous. ANd I have to say, I’m just shocked at how much room you have on a 16″ chain! You must be tiny!!! Even when I was skinny, 16″ just barely fit.
