A month ago, I wrote about my Tarte haul during their 30% off sale.
I was looking for things from Tarte to try, and I found the very attractive Lip Sculptor, gold cased, double-ended lipstick and gloss-in-one that’s great for travel or for just carrying in my purse. I bought the shade, Sass, a gorgeous mauve, just perfect for fall.
As I hope I mentioned before, the lipstick is creamy and very easy to apply. It feels so comfortable on my lips.
Although it is not positioned as a long-wearing lipstick, it wears quite well. Unless I eat a meal, in which case it’s gone, it stays on for about 4 hours. In fact, I just ate some potato chips – just a few, they’re my weakness – and I was surprised that my Tarte Lip Sculptor Lipstick was still front and center. I just had a big drink of water while wearing both the Lipstick and Lipgloss, and it didn’t budge. Impressive.
When I saw that Tarte Lip Sculptor Lipstick & Gloss was part of the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty, I had to act. The sale price was half off, $12 instead of $24. Even though, the sale day happened to be the day before Jeff’s daughter’s wedding, when we were in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina with iffy internet, I knew I had to place my order. I managed to get through online, and I bought two more:
- Voltage: my favorite pinky-peach shade that I wear often in the summer
- Harlequin: a true red that looks like a million bucks!
The new Lip Sculptors arrived a couple of days ago, and I have really enjoyed experimenting with them. I’d say I wear the lipsticks on their own most days because they look great just plain, and they’re so comfortable on my dry lips.
The bullets in the photo below look darker than they actually are. Sorry I can’t seem to adjust the color in my photo editor to a more accurate set of shades.
If I want to bling the lipstick up, I add the gloss that’s so shiny, it was difficult to photograph! Here are the swatches (top to bottom): Sass, Voltage, Harlequin lipsticks first, then glosses. The colors are quite accurate IMHO in the photo below.
The gloss is applied with a slim, doe-ish foot applicator. I don’t tend to wear the glosses on their own. They are translucent rather than opaque, the finish I prefer for glosses that I wear on their own. On top of the lipsticks, they feel very luxurious and definitely add shine and dimension to the color.
I probably should have used a universal lip pencil so the edges looked neater, but I was too lazy. The lipstick and gloss do not bleed.
Tarte Lip Sculptor lipstick and gloss have a slight vanilla (though to me, it seem more chocolately) scent that goes away after a few minutes. The formula contains the antioxidants vitamins A, C and E, as well as macarula oil. No wonder it’s so creamy and comfy! It comes in 8 shades. lipstick: 3.5 g / 0.12 Fl. Oz., lipgloss: 2 ml / 0.06 Fl. Oz.
Tarte is a natural and cruelty-free brand. The Lip Sculptor is vegan-friendly. Gluten-free. No mineral oil, phthalates, sodium laurel sulfate, or parabens.
It’s widely available in stores like Sephora, Ulta Beauty, Macy’s and other department stores as well as on the Tarte website and other online retailers. Made in Italy, assembled in Taiwan.
So you can tell, I really looooooooove this lipstick/gloss duo. Even though the Ulta sale on Lip Sculptor is over, keep your eyes peeled for another holiday sale from Tarte – maybe Columbus Day?? I can’t recommend Tarte Lip Sculptor more highly.

These look amazing! I haven’t bought anything from Tarte since forever but these lip products are very appealing. I currently am saving $$$ for either Urban Decay Ultimate Basic or Ciate x Chloe Morelo makeup set.

I don’t buy a lot from Tarte, but I love these lippies, the gold gel eyeliner was nice but doesn’t show up as much as I hoped it would, and I bought something else but can’t remember what it was. The Lip Sculptor was the definite star! I can definitely see saving for the UD Ultimate Basic. I don’t know about the Ciate set – I didn’t realize they did makeup! I need to find out about it!
These are so gorgeous, and I definitely need Voltage! Why did I not jump on these from the 21 Days of Ulta sale?!!!!!!!!

Voltage is a great shade that seems tailor-made for year-round wear in L.A., Helen. So sorry you missed the Ulta sale but Tarte’s frequent 30% off sales are almost as good 🙂
The shades you picked are very pretty! I admit, I’ve never tried anything from tarte!

You should someday, Destany. It’s a really well-made, cruelty-free, natural brand. Price point isn’t bad especially with all the 20-30% off sales they have throughout the year
Where have I been? I’ve never seen these! The packaging is fabulous. And Sass is right up my alley – the perfectly wearably dusty pink.

Renu, you are right – Sass is absolutely positively your shade. It’s either mauve or dusty rose – whatever it is, it’s the shade you gravitate to (as do I). You’d love it!
These all look good on you but I’m partial to Voltage. Even though I don’t go shopping often there’s an Ulta that’s not far from me and has easy parking so I should check it out for myself.

Voltage is a very pretty pinky peach. For me, it’s my go-to summer shade, but truth be told, I like to wear it year-round. Definitely take a look when you’re at Ulta or Sephora – there are 8 great shades! It’s such a pretty tube and so amazingly comfortable to wear 🙂
Great pigment and beautiful shades for fall!

Yes, quite pigmented! There are some deep burgundy and darker reds that are especially perfect for fall and winter
I love that the lipstick and gloss are in one place together! These are beautiful!

I have one of these that I love but I can’t remember the name–it’s in my desk drawer at work.

OOOooooh so pretty! I’m not much of a gloss girl but the lipsticks look promising. In fact, I think I have a couple of these I haven’t opened yet! lol naughty blogger!

I don’t wear gloss that often either but sometimes the gloss on top of these, especially the red Harlequin is quite fabulous. Definitely try the ones you already own! The lipstick on its own is terrific!
You picked some gorgeous shades right there! Totally ones I would get for myself too!

Thank you, Babi! I think they’d look great on you too, especially Voltage and Harlequin
I like these shades you picked. I have roo many lipsticks at the moment, but hey adding 2 or more won’t hurt, haha!

LOL. I know you have a fab stash of luxury lippies that I definitely covet! But the 2-in-1 aspect of these and their wearability makes them worth considering in the future 🙂
I hadn’t heard of these, but I love the idea. The shades are so perfect too.

I just discovered them recently when I was searching for something to buy from Tarte during their 30% off sale. I loved the 2-in-1 thing, but now I love the formula and shades!
Ohh I hadn’t heard of these! They look great
Definitely my current faves! So pigmented, so comfortable
They are all a nice shade
Thank you! I agree
