My Ridiculously Specialized Eye Skincare Products Routine

This morning after washing my face, I noticed that I used 5 different serum, creams and gels on different spots around my eyes. Ridiculous, right? But it comes with the beauty blogging territory, I guess.

In no way am I suggesting you do this. But I thought I’d let you know some quick thoughts on each in case you’re looking for new eye products.

my current skincare products used around my eyes: belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb, Dr. Brandt No More Baggage, Dr. Perricone Brightening Eye Serum, Chamonix GenuCel Eyelid Cream, RoC Retinol Eye Cream, neversaydiebeauty.com

Dr. Perricone Brightening Eye Serum

I received the Dr. Perricone Brightening Eye Serum from the blogging group, Influenster, for review during the summer. It’s expensive. I think it costs about $60 for 0.5 fl. oz./15 ml. It’s not in my budget. When I first received it, I managed to knock it over on my bathroom vanity and I spilled some of it. Sad.

It’s a very lightweight, clear, fragrance-free serum with vitamin C ester that I apply under my eyes to brighten that area. It absorbs instantly, and it doesn’t affect other creams, concealer or foundation that I put over it.

I’ve been using it for about 5 months, and sadly, I can’t say that it has made a radical change in my under eye area, but thankfully, I don’t have bad dark circles for it to really lighten. At $60 for the bottle, I am using it till I use it up. It can’t hurt.

Dr. Brandt No More Baggage Eye De-puffing Gel

I got the $42 full size 0.5 oz. tube of Dr. Brandt No More Baggage Eye De-puffing Gel in my Ipsy Glam Bag Plus a couple of months ago. Again, because I don’t have under eye bags or a lot of discoloration, I was going to put it in the giveaway pile. But both Cindy from Prime Beauty Blog and Marcia from Beauty Info Zone love it, so I decided to keep it and give it a try.

It’s a lightweight orange gel-cream that comes in a tube. The orange color is to counteract dark circles. I apply it on top of the Dr. Perricone Brightening Serum. It’s very smooth, and a little goes a long way. It also is easily absorbed and doesn’t interfere with my makeup.

Has it made a difference for me? Again not really because I don’t have bad dark circles and no bags. I intend to finish the tube because, hey, why not? But I won’t buy it when I’m finished. I am not the target market for this otherwise nice product.

$22 for travel size and $42 for 0.5 oz. full size

Chamonix GenuCel Eyelid Treatment

By now you know that I’m obsessed with tightening the skin above the crease, so when I had an opportunity to try out a specialized product for that particular area I was all in. I just received this gel cream a couple of days ago, so it’s too soon to review it.

The GenuCel Eyelid Treatment tube says it “tightens and lifts the upper eyelid”. Yes! So far, it is a lovely lightweight, fragrance-free, white cream that I pat on the skin above my crease. Unlike some other tightening products I have tried in the past, there is no unpleasant drying tightening sensation. I think it works to strengthen the skin with peptides, but I haven’t read up on it yet. So far, so good. You’ll hear more about it in a couple of weeks.

belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb

belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb was one of my discoveries in 2018, and it will make my Best of 2018 Skincare. I got a sample in both my Sephora Play and Ipsy bags, and the gel-cream consistency was an instant hit with me. Although I have two other similar eye gels that I love from PCA Skin and Shiseido, belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb is more affordable and it seems to produce similar results.

With this complex eye routine that I’m doing now, I use belif on my eyelids because it is so gentle, and I have red, dry eyelids from blepharitis and dry eye. When I’m not doing this complex routine, I use belif on my eyelid, on the skin above the crease as well as under eye. It’s an excellent hydrator. Honestly, belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb is my all around go-to product. $48

RoC Retinol Correxxion Eye Cream

Although I just discovered that RoC was kind enough to send me a tube of RoC Retinol Correxxion Eye Cream that I put in my stash somewhere and forgot about, I bought this tube (around $15) because I think of RoC as the retinol expert, and I wanted an eye cream with retinol to try to attack my crow’s feet and fine lines on the skin under my eye sockets.

I am very happy with this lightweight, white lotiony cream that doesn’t have much of a scent. It doesn’t irritate my eyes. It does help often the appearances of wrinkles. Plus it’s affordable. It’s a keeper.

So these are the the eye products in my current routine. My tried-and-trues are the belif and RoC Retinol. We’ll see how I feel about the new tightener from Chamonix.

Have you tried any of these eye products? What are your go-to eye products?

I’m so glad you did this review, You’ve been covering so many products of interest to me. I started using my Belif under eye moisturizer when I read your review of it as I received the same sample in my ipsy bag.I love how it feels and have been deciding whether or not to buy a full size. My main concern is wrinkles and fine lines, always has been. I started off with Roc back in the beginning but I fell into the beginners trap of believing more $$ means better quality and spent a lot on worthless products. I am so happy to see you endorse the Roc eye cream,at their price point I would love for it to work for me. Softening is all I’m looking for,I know nothing will make the wrinkles go away(No matter what they say, lol). I’ll probably be getting the Roc and keep my eye out for a sale at Sephora or for Belif itself. Thanks again Allison,I really am grateful I found your blog,I have complete confidence in your ethics and we have similar coloring and issues so I take your recommendations whenever I can. Have a great day! xo

  2. All of you have no dark circles because the universe saw fit to send alllllll of your excess pigmentation my way instead. You’re welcome. 😛 Can’t say I’m typically plagued by bags or puffiness though so maybe the universe works both ways. Whoever got my baggage, sorry!! lol
I like reading eye cream reviews and I’ll try just about anything once. Or twice…. as long as it doesn’t look like it’s going to give me milia. One speck of that and into the bin it goes! I like that you like the Roc one and I should put it on my list to try. I’m still churning though my sample pile though, so who knows when I’ll ever be low enough that I’ll feel like buying anything!

    1. LOL, Rachel! Sorry you got the dark circles, but glad you didn’t get the bags! Don’t buy anything you don’t need or desperately want. But someday, if you have coupons from Ultra, CVS or Walgreens or there’s a RoC sale at Target, try the RoC Retinol Correxxion Eye Cream. The regular price is $15, and it is one of the few eye creams with retinol. I haven’t gotten milia from using it, and I too have gotten them in the past from using whatever. An esthetician several years ago suggested that I switch to gels to avoid milia, and I mostly did but truthfully I think even gels can build up in pores and result in milia. I think it’s kinda random.

  3. I started smiling when I saw that title of this post because I have such a ridiculous number of eye creams (in fact so may have accumulated that they have their own dedicated drawer!). You have definitely made me want to try the Belief eye cream. I have tried a couple of RoC Products and this eye cream sounds worth trying!

    1. Wow, an entire drawer of eye creams! You’ve got me beat, Helen xo As I’ve said before, Belif is one of my favorites especially the eye gel-cream, the Moisturizing Bomb and I like their Hungarian Water too. The RoC Retinol Eye Cream is a steal. There aren’t that many eye creams with retinol.

I just bought the Belief cream, on your previous recommendation. Can’t wait to try it when I finish up my Clinique All About Eyes in a few days. I’m really interested in the Chamonix and the ROC retinol creams–I’ve been wondering just recently if you can use retinol around the eye area, and I’m happy to see that it can be done! Thanks for a great article!

    1. I think I got a trial size All About Eyes in a past Ipsy bag, but I don’t remember it too well. I hope you will like the Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb. I am such a big fan of gels and gel-creams so it’s perfect for me. RoC is the first skincare brand to introduce retinol, so I have always trusted the brand for retinol products. I really like the RoC to try to soften my crow’s feet and under eye fine lines, and for less than $15, it fits the bill! Plus it’s not irritating. Hope you’re having a good time. We missed you at book club, but it was a nice evening with a long discussion about the book. Next month, Where the Crawdads Sing.

  5. I have a few of these in trial size – sounds like I need to move them into the front of the rotation. 🙂 Thanks for the great review!

    1. There are some good ones for me, anyway, in the list. Try your trial sizes!

  6. I’m a total eye cream junkie but I don’t have Belif. Since I was debating on what to buy from Sephora to get my birthday gift you’ve convinced me that it’s time to buy this. I am also using Dr. Brandt (and have another from a subscription box), have finished RoC. I’m super interested in knowing about Chamonix now.

    1. I am a big fan of gels and gel-creams, Marcia, so Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb was a natural for me and it fortunately replaced two more expensive gels. I hope if you do try it, you like it. I had gotten two samples from Play and Ipsy so I got to try it first. After using it a couple of days, the Chamonix GenuCel Eyelid is a very nice lightweight, non-tightening cream. I like it, but I looked up the price online, and you have to buy at least 2 or 3 at a time to make it affordable. Chances are I’ll keep using belif above my eyelid for tightening as I was doing before just for affordability sake unless the GenuCel really does an unbelievable job after several weeks use. I’ll keep you posted!

  7. I love the honestly. I honestly forget to use eye treatments. And currently, I have dermatitis around one of my eyes that stems from stress, so I can’t really put anything on it. BUT, I can say that my husband REALLY REALLY loves the Dermalogica Stress Positive Eye lift. He tells me often that he likes it so that may be one to look in to.

    1. I will check out the Dermalogica next trip to Ulta. That’s so cool that your husband is a fan!

  8. I like eye creams even though sometimes I forget to put it on. But I’d rather do preventative care than trying to reverse later on in life.

    1. Definitely worth it in the long run. I always had dry skin so I started earlier than most probably.

  9. Ehmkay Nails says:

I feel like I slack with eye care. I need to step it up!

  10. Loved this post! maybe I need you to help me figure out an eye routine that works!

    Depuffing anything sounds nice!

  12. I am so impressed with you…and kinda embarrassed for myself! I really need to start paying attention to these raccoon circles under my eyes!
