Today is a rather gloomy, drab day especially after the wonderful sunshine and cooler temperatures of yesterday. The perfect day to show you the colorful and cute crossbody that I bought during our trip to Savannah.
Last year, I noticed several colorful leather purses at the museum shop at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. The colors were fabulous, but the bags were large, and they cost around $100, more than I wanted to spend on a bag I won’t use all the time. I passed, but I always felt bad about it.
I wandered into a cute accessories shop at the City Market on Jefferson Street in Savannah while trying to get out of the heat and humidity into some nice, cool air-conditioned store. I found Twinkle.
There they were, a huge display of brightly colored leather purses in different sizes and shapes as well as wallets, luggage tags, coin purses etc. Because the leather bag that I was carrying weighed a ton with everything that I had crammed into it, I was looking for something lightweight. The crossbody bags stood out to me immediately.
As usual, I was primarily drawn to the bags that featured some of the colors of the interior of my house: chartreuse green, orange, red, aqua, saffron. Also, for the cooler weather, I have a red leather jacket that I often wear. Two bags fit the bill, one with more stripes and colors
and another one with fewer stripes but a cool tassel.
I ended up going for the one with more colors, although I really loved that tassel!
If you’re not into the colors that I like (and many people are not), there are lots of other color combos to choose from including a gorgeous green, blue, purple and aqua selection. There are also solids and more traditional shades like black or brown.
The dimensions of the zippered top crossbody I chose are about 9 L x 8 W x 2 – that’s the large crossbody. There’s also a smaller one that’s 7 x 6 x 2. There’s an adjustable strap that you can tie to whatever length suits you. On the front, there’s a deep pocket that’s great for holding my big iPhone 7 Plus or a slim book. On the back, there’s a deep zipper pocket.
Inside, there’s another zipper pocket that’s deep but not as wide as the outer pockets.
It’s plenty roomy for a wallet and my glasses. Doesn’t it look cute with my Visconti polka dot wallet (reviewed here)? I just love polka dots and stripes!
When I carry this crossbody, I don’t carry my overstuffed makeup bag – I just carry a lipstick, mirror, comb, contact lens case, and keys.
One of the important benefits of this bag and all of their accessories is that they have RFID blocking technology that protects credit and debit cards from being read by someone trying to get access to the card numbers. What a great idea!
In this age of mega-branding, this bag whispers instead of shouts. I’m not exactly sure what the brand name is. Inside there’s a square of leather stamped with a graphic design, the name New York and Genuine Leather. There’s a fabric tab inside that says Made in India. That’s it. So is the brand New York? Who knows!
At any rate, I bought the crossbody at Twinkle in Savannah for $62. Since then, I found it online at a website called Museum Outlets where it’s priced at $59. Museum Outlets fits in with the fact that I initially found the “brand” at the MFA gift shop.
I’m very happy with my bright new crossbody. It’s fun to carry, and my shoulder sure appreciates the lighter weight. Check it out if you’re looking for something to cheer you up or for a fun and memorable gift. The accessories are adorable too.
Women and purses, the bigger it is the more crap we carry. In general life I carry a med/large bag I might need something 😉. But I have several small shoulder bags all bright colors. I love carrying them when out shopping etc. I find I don’t miss the bigger bags and all the crap I carry in them. Love your pretty bright bag.

When I was on my cruise the one souvenir I wanted to come home with was a smaller size purse. This would have made me very happy (in the blues). I did end up with a red one from Radley that I’ve been carrying every day since the winter final left. I know how you feel about this purse since I’m crazy about mine.

I can’t fit “all” my stuff in it either. I use it when I’m going somewhere where I’ll be on my feet carrying my bag for a few hours, and I leave the bulk of the makeup I often carry home. 😀

These look nice and roomy! Would love to see more of the interior of your house. I’m not into brights but use sombre, subdued (almost funereal) colours, but enjoy seeing brights all around.

I prefer crossbody bags and it’s tough to find ones that have a more purse vibe so I am loving these! Between the color patterns and the price is totally pocketbook friendly!
