My Spring ’21 Sephora VIB Mini-Haul

I didn’t buy enough from Sephora in 2020 to keep my VIB status, so I was very happy that they (and also Ulta) extended my status through 2021. The VIB Sale started today and goes through April 19, and the discount is 15%. Though I consider 15% discount to be rather paltry, I couldn’t do any better elsewhere on all three of the items that I wanted so I went ahead with my purchases.

I Bought This, Affiliate Links

Here’s what I bought:

  • Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream Plumping & Hydrating Moisturizer: I bought the 2.5 fl. oz. “value size” in the pretty jar with sakura on it. I will get an extra 0.8 oz. for $12. So instead of it costing $40 an ounce, it costs $32. And the 15% off made it seem not quite so bad. I have about a million jars and bottles of moisturizer, but when I got a sample size jar a year ago, I absolutely loved this cream. $80 regular, $68 on sale which is the same regular price for the 1.7 fl. oz. jar.

  • Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Stay Vulnerable Melting Cream Blush: I have been seeing reviews of this new-ish cream to powder blush just about everywhere for the past couple of months. You know I am a fan of cream blushes, so I decided to take the plunge. I chose Nearly Neutral, described as a Soft Pink shade. The Nearly Rose, a brighter, truer pink was also lovely, but since I am wearing less vibrant makeup when I do wear makeup these days, I thought I should go with the more muted shade. $21 regular, a little less than $18 on sale

  • FOREO IRIS Illuminating Eye Massager: I have been stalking all the websites that sell FOREO beauty tools for a few months now looking for a sale. Unfortunately, most online retailers exclude FOREO from their coupons and discounts. Frankly, I wasn’t sure that my Sephora discount was going to work on the IRIS, but fortunately it did. The FOREO IRIS Illuminating Eye Massager is used to help eye serums get absorbed better by the skin (although I am not sure about that. Why doesn’t it just end up on the IRIS?), and it is said to help firm and lift the skin around the eye by gentle tapping. Also, people with dry eye have reported that it helped their eyes feel less dry. I’ve got my fingers crossed that this actually does something because it isn’t cheap even with 15% off. $139 regular, $118 on sale

I got to pick two tiny samples, and there weren’t many things I wanted to try. I chose:

  • Tatcha The Dewy Cream: I figure if I like it that much, I would put the sample in my purse or travel bag and use it on the go.
  • Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protector Lotion: I’m not sure what the SPF is, but I’m always on the lookout for new lightweight facial sunscreens.

Last, I got to choose my birthday gift from Sephora. Again, I wasn’t that thrilled with the options. They had a makeup duo from NARS, but it was a bronzer that I don’t wear and a lip balm. Nah. They also had a gift from Moroccanoil, and I love the scent, but it was 2 haircare products that I wouldn’t use and a body serum that I would use. Oh well. I chose the gift from LaNeige: mini sizes of lip balm, water sleeping mask, water balm moisture cream. I like those products, and I will use them all.

What’s on your Sephora VIB Sale list, or are you sitting this one out?

On a different subject, I would like to thank everyone, from the bottom of my heart, who shopped City Lips during the most recent 2 for 1 sale and who used my affiliate link/code. I truly appreciate it! You helped pay my blog hosting invoice. Thank you xoxoxo

  1. What a fantastic haul, Allison! So far I haven’t purchased anything because I spent far too much at the recent SkinStore anniversary sale! We’ll see if I end up making any purchases this time!

    1. Last year, I think I passed on all the Sephora sales and bought directly from brands or from other online retailers that had bigger discounts. I know you did very well at the SkinStore sale!

  2. I ordered the JLo eye cream. I’ve been thinking about trying something from her line and eye creams always win. I wanted to try the Hourglass one but the price is ridiculous for it so the 15% off barely makes a dent. I can’t wait for your review of the Rare Beauty. I bought a liquid blush from her and the pigment is so strong that I don’t reach for it.

    1. How do I not know about the JLo eye cream? You’ll have to let me know about that one, Marcia. I do not need another blush, but I have been hearing so much about Rare Beauty. Now that you told me your experience, I am glad I bought the more muted shade of the cream blush. Yikes!

You have to tell me how that IRIS works out! So glad your VIB status was extended so you could save some money!

    1. I will for sure, Gabrielle! Of course, my Sephora goodies are arriving tomorrow in record time, the one day in the past year just about that I won’t be home, and it’s going to be pouring. My friend said she’s take in the package for me, but I am so excited to get home to try it out!

  4. That moisturizer sounds like a good one! Such a pretty jar too!
