Enjoying the run up to Christmas? Got all your shopping done?
It’s a beautiful but chilly day here in MA, and we’re at a loss for what to do. Not exactly strolling outside temperatures, and we definitely want to stay out of the malls. We’ve been to all the museums nearby recently. Hmmm. I hate to go to the dark movies on a bright sunny afternoon. So we headed to seaside Marblehead even though I was there a little over a week ago. No shopping this time, but lovely scenery. Here are a couple of pix of Marblehead harbor in the late afternoon and at sunset (Boston is in the distance in the sunset pic).
We also drove around looking at Christmas decorations. There are two modest homes in the Danvers MA that always do up their houses next door to each other to the max. They accept donations that go to Boston Children’s Hospital. I really get a kick out of it. They cover every inch of their homes and properties. They even create a “waterfall” between the two houses with lights that blink on and off to simulate moving water. Amazing! Maybe not good taste, but so much fun. I love seeing them every year 😛
What were you up to? Enjoy the rest of your weekend and this holiday season!
PUR Minerals Giveaway Reminder
Reminder: my PUR Minerals Cameo Contour stick giveaway ends tonight just before midnight EST. I’ve giving away to four double-ended highlighter/contour sticks in 4 shades: Medium, Tan, Dark and Deep. These cream sticks are a great way to get into or practice highlighting and contouring! Please enter if you haven’t since there will be 4 winners. I really need some more darker skinned women to enter because very few entrants have expressed in interest in the Dark or Deep shades. Remember with a contour stick, you’re not looking to match your skin tone, you want it to be a deeper shade. I can not guarantee you’ll get your shade preference, unfortunately, because I have only one of each shade. However, they would make a lovely gift to someone who can wear the shade even if they won’t arrive in time for Christmas. Click here to enter!

OMG! Those Christmas lights!!!! I love it!!! I would need those donations for my electric bill. 😉 Thankfully they are in a position to do otherwise.
Laura, you should see these two houses! They are just loaded to the gills with lights and characters and everything! Every year they have some new things. When we were visiting the houses on Friday night, one of the neighbors said that one of the homeowners works for Costco and that Costco helps in some way – I don’t know if they help with the electric bill or by giving them some of the decorations, but Costco gets involved because the money goes to the Children’s Hospital. It’s so much fun to go see them every year!
Wow, those light displays are amazing! I love that they’re for a good cause and not just for status.
I don’t think we’re going to get our outside lights up this year. We’ve been too busy. I’ve got all the presents wrapped except for a few that are on the way. It looks like everything will be here in time for Christmas, at least.
It looks like you had a beautiful seaside trip. It’s still rainy and stormy here. We went and saw the new Star Wars movie today. My older son was so excited, it was like he was a little kid again. lol I thought the movie was actually pretty good.
My hubby and I are going to see the Oregon Ballet in Portland perform The Nutcracker on Christmas Eve. I’m really looking forward to it. Have a great evening! <3
It sounds like you’re in good shape for the holidays, Rachel! Those two houses that I showed are definitely over-the-top. In fact, they start working on it in October! But it is for a good cause, and it definitely gives me pleasure to look at it. It’s kind of like a mini theme park. They are lucky that their neighbors don’t mind the traffic jam for most of December and people everywhere gawking at the decorations! Glad to hear that you guys got to see the new Star Wars. Jeff & I had intended to go on Saturday night but we didn’t get our tickets in advance and all the shows before 10pm were sold out so we went to see The Martian instead. Maybe next week we’ll get to see it. So happy to hear your going to see The Nutcracker with the Oregon Ballet. That will truly be a memorable Christmas Eve. I hope you have a wonderful time! All the best, Rachel!!
