My Zoya Haul and Zanna Mani

I always look forward to Zoya’s Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales. They’re the best.

This year on Black Friday, I bought four of the quads, 2 to give as gifts and 2 for me. At $9 for four polishes, they were a complete steal! Even at the regular $30 price, they’re a good deal.

The two quads that I kept for myself were a red quad, Fa La La La La, and a neutral quad, All Snuggled Up. But I swapped out one of the shades in All Snuggled Up to give as a gift to a lavender lover and I kept Aggie, described as “gold holo flip liquid metal with bronze micro glitter” – wow! I am eager to try Aggie (the polish on the far right)!

Then on Cyber Monday, I bought Ruthie, a raspberry rose cream (on the right) and Allison, how could I not, especially since they were half price!

I also picked up a bottle the Big Flipper nail polish remover, also half off. They just arrived yesterday because the Big Flipper was out of stock. And sadly, instead of receiving Allison  a bright but cool plum-toned ruby cream, they sent Maxine  – described as a warm red cream, but it is a screaming bright red (on the left) – by mistake. I called customer service and they will be sending out Allison ASAP.

I thought I’d show you my mani with Zanna, a lovely dusty pink neutral cream or as Zoya describes it: “a light rose-mauve”. Here it is first in sunlight and next in indoor daylight.

As I mentioned in my last nail post, I have switched to Cuccio 7 Second Reactive Top Coat.

Not only does it dry in a few seconds, it truly protects my polish. My mani with Zanna lasted 6 days. I had two tiny chips after 4 days, but I was able to fix them and keep going. After 6 days, I removed Zanna because I was ready to move on to a different shade. That almost never happened before I switched to the Cuccio topcoat.

Finally, you probably already know but Zoya has introduced the Z wide brush, which for me is truly welcome news. I hate the skinny Zoya original brush.

Sadly, Zoya hasn’t replaced the skinny brush with the wide brush. Instead, they send you one wide brush with every order. Or you can pay $2 for a wide brush. I tried to buy a few of them during the 50% off sale, but for some reason, I wasn’t able to add more brushes to my cart. What’s up with that? I definitely don’t want to have to clean the brush and move it from shade to shade. Grrrrrrr. I can’t believe that Zoya has that much of a fan base for their horrible skinny brush! Amirite? Or do you prefer the skinny brush?

  1. What a gorgeous set! I am starting to paint my nails again so I’m looking to buy a few new nail polishes.

  2. Now that is a seriously gorgeous set! What a great purchase, Allison!

    1. The quads for $9 made for great gifts and excellent treats for me!

  3. Oh no, I hate that skinny little brush. I had trouble with the wide brushes in the cart too, but eventually got it to work. I didn’t replace all of mine, as I find the skinny brush doesn’t really make any difference in my application of Pixie Dust or base coat, but I got new brushes for everything else. And I’ll probably continue adding a wide brush to my cart for every new bottle that isn’t Pixie Dust or base from now on.
They claim that their polling led them to believe their customers were split 50/50 on the issue but I’m sad that I’m in the half that winds up having to pay more. *grumble*grumble* lol

Oh and just in case someone else didn’t notice this (because I totally missed it at first and felt rather silly) you CAN pull the black outer caps off the brushes. So if you want to trade out brushes on anything with one of their matte black/rubbery caps (like the Matte Velvets or Pixie Dusts) you can put the matte outer cap on the new wide brush and not have your bottle aesthetic marred. I highly recommend taking the old outer cap off the brush while still attached to the bottle though- I learned that the hard way. They come off pretty easy when it’s on the bottle but not so much when loose!

    1. Not sure I completely get why I would want to change the black outer cap on the Zoya brush?? But I sure do agree with you about hating the skinny brush and being pissed off that we have to pay for the wide brush. I’m not sure I trust their “research” on that question. Boo

      1. All the caps on the new wide brushes are shiny plastic. Pixie Dusts and Matte Velvets are sold with matte black rubberised caps (not the shiny black of the regular colours and the new separate wide brushes) and I wanted them to stay that way because I like the rubberised caps and I’m weird like that. But maybe that’s just me. Hahaha.

        1. Gee, I will have to dig out my Pixie Dusts and check out their caps! I haven’t used them in a while, but I didn’t remember that they had different tops. I wonder why they feel the need to give them different caps?

I don’t know why they did it that way but I like the matte ones. Actually I wish all their caps were that way. I like the slightly grippy finish, and honesty I think they look a bit more classy. 🙂

  4. Ehmkay Nails says:

I dislike the skinny brush and totally forgot to claim my PR sample of the wide brush. It’s just so small! I do love the colors you picked up!

    1. The new Zoya wide brush is so much better than the current. Grab it next time!

  5. I love those reds. Even though I love wearing a variety of colors (today it’s dark dark purple with tons of sparkles) my go to is red. Maybe with the wider brush I’d buy more Zoya than I currently do.

    1. I agree with you, Marcia. I don’t reach for my Zoya or buy as many as I might if it had a wider, more useful brush. For some reason, they think that half like the skinny brush and half want a wide brush. I hope they figure it out rather than charging us to buy a wider brush. Your dark dark purple nails with sparkles sound fabulous!

  6. Wow,that was a great deal! Love that pretty pink!

  7. Jen Walker says:

I’m so glad you took advantage of the Zoya promo- it was such an amazing deal!! None of the quads were quite perfect as is for those I was gifting, so I ended up breaking them up and mixing and matching bottles to create the perfect quads for my recipients.
As for the brushes, I’m a wide brush fan as well, although I’ve still had good experience with their skinny brushes with their formulas. In truth, sometimes I think I prefer wider brushes since it is usually one or two swipes and I’m done, lol!

  8. My Nail Polish Obsession says:

I liked the idea of their wide brush but had the sand thought, am I supposed to clean it every time I use it?

  9. You picked a couple of the best Zoya sets! The first set totally up my alley!

    1. I think you have it. It was in your post, no?

  10. 25 Sweetpeas says:

I have the wide brushes have yet to change any yet tho! I wish they were just the new standards!

  11. Madhubani says:

What a lovely dusty pink polish.. love it on you… and yes, what a beautiful set…

  12. Congratulations on hauling these beautiful Zoyas! I love the colors you chose!

  13. I just recently discovered ZOYA as a safer nail polish brand. Those colors are beautiful!

    1. Yes, that is one of the things that I love about Zoya, too! Happily, more polish brands are becoming safer to use these days!
