My Zoya Haul Featuring Joss, A Pretty Pink Neutral

I haven’t bought any nail polish in almost a year. On my bad luck day in June when I got stung by wasps and got my thumb stuck in a folding chair, my thumbnail was damaged. Now almost 7 months later, my nail has recovered in spite of the fact that I recently sliced it with a very sharp scissors by accident. So I can wear nail polish again. 🙂

Zoya had a sale post Christmas, I think, where one could get 4 polishes for $15 that was supposed to be the cost of shipping. Even if shipping wasn’t $15, 4 Zoya polishes for $15 was an amazing deal. The four polishes that I chose were:

  • Joss: soft colonial rose cream
  • Alicia: silver linear holo with a touch of gold
  • Briar: red-toned terracotta cream
  • Joni: deep, cool-toned dusty plum cream.

When I unboxed them, I was delighted by my choices.

the narrow regular Zoya brush

The only thing that I had forgotten about is that Zoya still has its narrow brush as the default. You have to pay extra for the wider, easier to use brush.

Joss is the kind of polish that I fall for over and over again. It reminds me of Zoya’s Naturel collection. I bought several of those shades. So it was “natural” that I would choose Joss. To me, Joss is an opaque pale pink/neutral cream. Zoya describes it as warm toned, but it appears cool toned to me. It seemed to cover in one coat, but I applied a second coat for good measure. Here’s what it looks like on my light skin tone. Pardon my ragged cuticles and messy job – that’s what I get for doing my nails at midnight with my two mismatched eyes.

Next time, I’ll show swatches of the other shades.

The regular price for each is $10.

In addition to being cruelty-free, Zoya is now 10-free: free of formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, dibutyl phthalate, toluene, camphor, TPHP, parabens, xylene, ethyl tosylamide, and lead.

    1. I agree. I am psyched to try Briar, but I’m hoping I’ll get at least a few days wear from Joss before it chips 😉

  3. It took so long to get your nail back in shape. I’m relieved for you. This is a sweet, gentle shade. More of a palette cleanser type.

    1. Thank you, Marcia. It definitely seemed to take forever for my nail to grow back, but thankfully it did. And the bulge on my nail where it got squished in between the legs finally disappeared too. Joss and other similar shades like Zoya Rue and Morgan Taylor “Sweetheart” are my go-to shades. For me, other colors are the palette cleansers, lol

  4. I’m wearing gel polish similar to Joss right now–a classic!

    1. Alright! Zoya Joss reminds me of a polish I bought and have lost from Morgan Taylor: “Sweetheart” nail lacquer from their Marilyn Monroe collection. I love these classic neutrals!

  5. I love Zoya polish and your neutral pink looks so nice on you.

  6. I totally pay extra for the wider brushes now. Love these shades, Joss might actually be a dupe for Miss Honey from the now defunct KL Polish. I’m going to have to grab it (and a wide brush 😂) and see.
