MyChelle Skincare from the Pumpkin and Regular Collections

October and November are the pumpkin months. Pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns and pumpkin-flavored stuff are everywhere.

I had my first pumpkin bread of the season last night (I’m behind schedule). Earlier in October, Jeff and I went to the Topsfield Fair and saw the winner of this year’s Biggest Pumpkin of the Season Contest – it weighed in a little short of 2000 pounds!

And here are some “smaller” pumpkins at the Fair.

But I didn’t know that pumpkin had skincare benefits. Well, it does! Pumpkin is loaded with phytonutrients, minerals, enzymes, and vitamins C and K that are great for the skin. Pumpkin seed oil is packed with essential fatty acids that regulate oil production in the skin, making it good for all skin types because it helps skin achieve optimal oil levels. The seeds also contain the mineral zinc that, along with vitamin A, are powerhouse antioxidants that help fight free-radicals and keep wrinkles at bay. Zinc is also a skin healer.

MyChelle Pumpkin Skincare Products

A few weeks ago, MyChelle Dermaceuticals was kind enough to send me a selection of their 100% natural pumpkin-based skincare collection as well as a couple of natural products from their regular collection, and I’ve been using them since they landed on my doorstep.

I read on the MyChelle website that for their 15th anniversary, the product line has been given a facelift with new sustainable packaging that’s easier to read and more easily grouped by function and skin type. I think the packaging looks great!

Creamy Pumpkin Cleanser

I have never had a pumpkin spiced latte (I know I’m behind the times), but I think the Creamy Pumpkin Cleanser from MyChelle must smell a lot like a pumpkin spiced latte. When I pump out a few pumps of the lightweight, peach colored cream cleanser, I can immediately smell both pumpkin and a spicy scent that smells like nutmeg. I am obsessed with this cleanser! Not only does it smell fabulous, it is very gentle to my skin. It doesn’t lather, but when I wash it off my skin definitely feels clean. It is designated for dry skin, and it is perfect for my sensitive skin. My skin does not feel stripped after using it. In fact, it feels moisturized and smooth.

MyChelle’s website says the Creamy Pumpkin Cleanser contains pumpkin extract and honey enzymes to remove dead skin cells. It also contains chlorophyll and algae extracts (that’s new for me!) to detoxify and nourish while cleaning the skin.

The Creamy Pumpkin Cleanser pump bottle contains 4.2 oz. Price $16.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Behenyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dicaprylyl Ether, Sucrose Stearate, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Powder, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Honey (Mel), Astaxanthin, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Seed Cell Culture Extract, Lactobacillus Ferment, Aphanizomenon Flos-Aquae Powder, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Leaf Oil, Cinnamomum Cassia (Cinnamon) Leaf Oil, Myristica Fragrans (Nutmeg) Kernel Oil, Vanillin, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Xanthan Gum, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Alcohol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Polysorbate 20, Phenoxyethanol, O-cymen-5-OL

Incredible Pumpkin Peel

The award-winning Incredible Pumpkin Peel also smells like pumpkin and spice. Initially, it’s a bit of a strong scent (I like it), but it disappears after you put it on your skin. The peel itself comes out of the tube a brownish, earthy shade. It looks very natural!

After a few minutes, the peel dries but doesn’t feel uncomfortable or tight. The directions say to leave it on for 3-5 minutes and then wash off with cool water. I have been doing just that, and the Incredible Pumpkin Peel leaves my skin feeling clean and smooth. I really like this mask because it only requires 3-5 minutes so I can easily do it every few days. Although the Incredible Pumpkin Peel is recommended for those with oily or acne-prone skin, it isn’t strong or unsuitable for my dry, sensitive skin. I really enjoy using it. The pumpkin ingredients are natural exfoliators that help slough off dead skin cells and detoxify skin. It contains nourishing ingredients like vitamin A that help heal sun-damaged skin like mine and get rid of dullness. Yes!

The Incredible Pumpkin Peel comes in a tube with 1.2 oz of product. Price $28.

Ingredients: Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin), Aqua (Water), Lactobacillus/Pumpkin Ferment Extract, Glycerin, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Wine, Honey (Mel), Gluconic Acid (Glucose), Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Oil, Ananas Sativus (Pineapple) Stem Powder, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Leaf Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Myristica Fragrance/Parfums (Nutmeg) Kernel Oil, Cinnamomum Cassia (Cinnamon) Leaf Oil, Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Oil, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Alcohol, Potassium Sorbate, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Aminoguanidine HCL, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract

Pumpkin Renew Cream

The Pumpkin Renew Cream is a lightweight, light gray-green, natural-looking cream. The Natural Scented version that I received has a pumpkin-y, earthy but pleasant scent that I like, but it also comes in an unscented version.

I know some of you might prefer that it came in a pump container rather than a jar. I use my plastic scoop to take some out to apply to my face at night. In fact, it’s a little soupy so I think it would do well in a pump and be easier to apply!

Even though it contains organic shea butter and pumpkin seed oil, the cream feels lightweight but very nourishing. It also contains EGF (epidermal growth factor) for healing and cellular repair as well as antioxidants to fight free radicals.

I like the Pumpkin Renew Cream. It is recommended for all skin types. It’s perfect for my skin now and during the summer. Once we hit the cold, drying winter weather, this cream will not be hydrating enough for my winter dry skin. I just read that MyChelle also has Deep Repair Cream created for mature skin that contains cellular renewal ingredients along with pumpkin seed oil. I think that that one would probably be better for my skin in winter. But for now, Pumpkin Renew Cream is perfect.

The 1.2 oz. jar of Pumpkin Renew Cream is priced at $28.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Glucoside, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Dicaprylyl Ether, Glyceryl Stearate, Polyglyceryl-4 Caprate, Rubus Chamaemorus (Cloud Berry) Seed Oil, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Seed Oil, Crocus Chrysanthus Bulb Extract, Phenyl t-Butylnitrone (Spin Trap), Garcinia Mangostana Pericarp Powder, Euterpe Oleracea (Acai) Fruit Extract, Myrciaria Dubia (Camu Camu) Fruit Extract, Myristica Fragrans (Nutmeg) Kernel Oil, Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Extract, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Leaf Oil, Cinnamomum Cassia (Cinnamon) Leaf Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Lactic Acid (L), Totarol, Astaxanthin, Chlorophyll, Tocotrienols, Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil, Fructooligosaccharides (D-beta), Carnosine (L), Tocopherol (D-alpha), Gluconolactone, Acacia Senegal Gum, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Alcohol, Alcohol Denat., Caprylyl Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Polysorbate 20, Phenethyl Alcohol, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract

MyChelle Skincare from the Regular Collection

Gentle Cleansing Wash for Sensitive Skin

The Gentle Cleansing Wash is a delight to use. It also comes in a pump bottle, but the cream this time is light blue. Like the Creamy Pumpkin Cleanser, the Gentle Cleansing Wash doesn’t lather, but it leaves my skin feeling clean and moisturized. Unlike the pumpkin-y spicy Pumpkin Cleanser, the Gentle Cleansing Wash is unscented.

The Gentle Cleansing Wash pump bottle contains 4.2 oz. and is good for calming sensitive skin. Price $16.

Ingredients: Glycerin, Aqua (Water), Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Rosa Centifolia Flower Water, Lauryl Glucoside, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Glycol Distearate, Coco-Glucoside, Glyceryl Oleate, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Sodium Lauryl Glucose Carboxylate, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Melia Azadirachta (Neem) Leaf Extract, Melia Azadirachta (Neem) Flower Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Amino Esters-1, Coccinia Indica Fruit Extract, Solanum Melongena (Eggplant) Fruit Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Flower Extract, Ocimum Basilicum (Basil) Leaf Extract, Pearl Powder, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Lawsonia Inermis (Henna) Extract, Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract, Bisabolol (L-alpha), Vanillin, Globularia Alypum Leaf Extract, Quercus Petraea Fruit Extract, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Sodium Lactate, Sodium Gluconate, Acacia Senegal Gum, Xanthan Gum, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sodium Benzoate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, O-cymen-5-OL

Refining Sugar Cleanser

The Refining Sugar Cleanser is a fabulous exfoliator. By adding more or less water to the natural sugar crystal suspension, you can control the amount of exfoliation that you get. When I first tried it out, I hadn’t added enough water and the crystals felt a bit too rough on my skin. I added a little more warm water, and I got the solution to the perfect consistency for my skin. I really enjoyed using it. Again, my skin felt very clean but moisturized. The benefits of using the Refining Sugar Cleanser include renewal, refining, improved texture, and hydration.

For me, the Refining Sugar Cleanser is a great once a week exfoliating cleanser that I use in conjunction with the other two MyChelle cleansers that are gentler for my sensitive skin.

The Refining Sugar Cleanser tube contains 3.5 oz. and is good for all skin types. Price $25.

Ingredients: Sucrose, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Canola Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Silica, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Vanillin, Zeolite, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, Crocus Chrysanthus Bulb Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate (L), Sodium Polyglutamate, Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Acacia Senegal Gum, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Alcohol, Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract

Final Thoughts

This past summer, I used three MyChelle natural sunscreens (reviewed here) and they were by far my favorite sunscreens for my body (and I used them on my face at the beach too). They contained physical sunscreen ingredients that I usually prefer, and they were amazingly lightweight and comfortable to wear. I used them up and I plan to buy more next summer.

In the past, I have purchased and used MyChelle facial serums. I really like MyChelle because their skincare is made with natural and often organic ingredients. The products are very high quality. In fact, they’re made without GMOs, gluten, parabens, petroleum, phthalates, silicones, sulfates, ureas, artificial fragrances or colors. They’re vegetarian and cruelty-free. Plus they are easily available at Whole Foods and other stores.

I really liked these new skincare products. Because not everyone can go out and buy the entire product line, for me, the standout products were the Creamy Pumpkin Cleanser, Incredible Pumpkin Peel and the Refining Sugar Cleanser.

        1. If you re-up on the Pumpkin Renewal Cream once you finish it, let me know if it’s any different from the one you had. I know they changed the packaging but not sure if they changed anything about the formula. I think they did for some products but maybe not all of ’em. 🙂

  2. I’ve heard so many great things about MyChelle products. I love pumpkin anything so I’d definitely check these out after reading your great review.

    1. MyChelle really is a wonderful natural brand, and it’s sold at Whole Foods so it’s easy to find. I really like the pumpkin line, and it smells very pumpkin-y! The Refining Sugar Cleanser from the regular line is great too.

The pumpkin line has been fun to use because it truly smells like pumpkin and spices, plus it offers all the pumpkin skincare benefits. And the other two products that I just tried – the Gentle Cleanser and Sugar Exfoliator – are terrific too. Definitely worth looking into

  8. Pumpkin is seriously so good for the skin! When I worked in the spa, the pumpkin facials and services were some of my favorite!! I’ve never tried this line before, BUT I do love products that contain natural ingredients such as pumpkin!! I’ll have to look into this and see what they say about sensitive skin types!

    1. I didn’t know you worked in a spa, Christine! How cool! I have sensitive skin, and I have done well with all of the products MyChelle sent for trial. However, the non-pumpkin Gentle Cleansing Wash is the only product I received that is specifically for sensitive skin. Frankly, the Creamy Pumpkin Cleanser for Dry Skin is very soothing and I think that would be fine. I believe that MyChelle has revamped their packaging for their extensive skincare line to make it easier to find products for different skin types so it would be worth looking into. Also, MyChelle is sold at Whole Foods so it’s easy to check out in person. The scent of the pumpkin products is quite amazing especially the Creamy Pumpkin Cleanser, yum!

  9. I’ve never tried MyChelle pumpkin but I’ve tried other products that I really like. You make these sound good enough to eat… I mean use.

I have a hard time with pumpkin products and even when carving them, I have to wash my hands in between consistently because the enzymes in pumpkin cause my eczema to flare up. At least I can eat it though 😀 I would probably not be able to use this as much… I can use pumpkin products, but very little at a time and not often.
