Nails, Nails, Nails!

After not wearing polish for months, I suddenly got in the mood. One polish was a new one that was featured at PolishCon in Brooklyn recently, another I got in my Ipsy bag, and the other two were underutilized bottles in my stash. Because I’m doing some gardening, my polish doesn’t stay on too long, but I’ve been trying nonetheless. Yesterday, I broke down and went to my local nail salon to get a mani-pedi and let a professional trim and shape my nails and push back/trim my cuticles at the beginning of the summer season.

Here are the four polishes I’ve been wearing over the past two weeks.

Bohemian Polish

I was commenting on a fellow blogger’s post several weeks ago when I fell in love with one of the polishes she was reviewing: Makin’ Bacon Pancakes from Bohemian Polish, an indie brand by Jennifer Diringer that’s sold on Etsy (it says she’s taking a break but just message her if you’re interested). Her polishes are handmade. I often think that indie brands make the most distinctive polishes, and this one really caught my eye. It’s a pale peach cream with a yellow gold glow in the light. I thought it was a perfect spring shade with a twist! What do you think?

I also like the somewhat wider brush that made application easy. I did two coats, but I think three coats would have made it look creamier. I may try that next time.

Adesse New York

On Monday, I reviewed my most recent Ipsy bag – Summer Friday – and I mentioned that I was thrilled with the robin’s egg blue organic polish, shade Surfer Girl, that I received from Adesse New York, a cruelty-free brand. I couldn’t wait to use it, and I put it on the very next day. I love love love this summer shade! It was opaque in two coats. It’s supposed to have a gel finish without LED lights. It’s a pretty polish with a nice, shiny finish but it didn’t wear like a salon gel.

$18 but if you’re an Ipsy subscriber, you can use your code to save 20%, I think, and if you’re not a subscriber, you can sign up for emails on the Adesse website and save 20%.

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer

I couldn’t stand the look of my nails and cuticles any longer. I had to go to the nail salon and let the professional make them look better and healthier. So glad I spent the money to do it.

Back in November, I bought Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer’s collection of 4 or 5 crelly and jelly glitter polishes in mini sizes, my favorite way to buy polish. Then I stopped wearing nail polish when my nails broke in the winter. My nails are doing better now, and I vow to wear those pretty glitter polishes. I grabbed Clear My View when I headed for the nail salon yesterday. Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer’s Clear My View is a rose pink crelly with tiny bits of lighter pink glitter suspended in the formula. It’s so cute and girly. The woman at the salon applied two coats. So pretty!

$6 for the 10 ml mini size or $12 for the 14 ml full size.

OPI

My toenails desperately needed trimming and shaping, and the professionals at the nail salon do a much better job than I. So glad to have that taken care of for the start of sandals season.

I probably should have brought a pink shade with me since that would go with several of my swimsuits, but chances are the heat of the past two days will go away for another month. Instead I chose OPI Freedom of Peach, a neutral browned-peach cream, that came out in Fall 2016 in the run up to the election. I wrote about this shade soon after I bought it, and I still like it. Two coats provided opaque coverage. $10 still available at Macy’s and probably other stores as well.

How do you like my new sandals?

So these are what I’m wearing now. Do any of these shades appeal to you?

  1. Clear My View is absolutely stunning! I really need to get my manicure and pedicure now that sandal season is here, I haven’t gone for one ever since moving to Canada and I used to get one or two every month in Malaysia.

    1. I don’t go to a professional mani-pedi as much as I used to. There’s a cheap place near where Jeff lives that I go to from time to time, but you get what you pay for – they don’t do nearly as good a job as the ladies in the shop near me. I like to have them shape my nails at least once a season. Hope you get a chance to go!

Morning…..😎☀️🌻Love all the pretty colors of polishes! My summer favorite is Bubblegum Pink. It’s by O.P.I. Great for all skin colors, a happy summer color. Have a nice weekend. It’s beautiful here in California. 🕶👙🍷

    1. When I change my toenail polish next month, I’m going to go with a bubblegum pink shade that I have in my stash coz it goes better with my swimsuits. I don’t own the OPI version but I agree that the shade is summer in a bottle! Hope you’re having a good one in Cali!

  3. I just got my Ipsy bag today, it came late, and while I like the Adessa polish I prefer more of a periwinkle blue. But I’m sure I’ll wear it since I want to know how good the brand is. I love buying indie polishes and I think they last longer on me than the big name brands.

    1. We all have our favorite shades! I was lucky that Surfer Girl is one of mine. I foolishly decided to garden wearing it, and not surprisingly it didn’t last too long on me – but I didn’t expect it to under those circumstances. Hope it lasted on you!

  4. Love your sandals!! I bought Makin’ Bacon Pancakes after I met Naked Without Polish and she told me I’d love it. She was right!!!! I’m currently wearing Moody Judy by Lavish Polish on my nails and Macaw Me Maybe from KBShimmer on my toes!

    1. Thanks, Judy! I’m so glad that Naked Without Polish turned us both on to Makin’ Bacon Pancakes. The name alone is almost enough to want to buy it! I need to look into the two shades you’re wearing today 🙂

  5. Love the Boho Polish!

    1. It looks so pretty in the sunshine especially! And the name, Makin’ Bacon Pancakes, is a riot IMHO
