NARS Liquid Blush: Orgasm

When NARS launched the new liquid version of their iconic Orgasm blush, I decided I needed to try it.

In fact, I forgot that I used to be a liquid blush fan for a long, long time. I was loyal to Clinique’s liquid blush that came in a round glass bottle with a dosing hole at the top. Did anyone else use that? Looks like they don’t make it anymore.

I have a generous travel size version of NARS Orgasm powder blush that I got in a Barney’s goody bag a while ago. That size is perfect for me. The blush that’s a warm peachy-pink with a slight golden shimmer is very flattering for a variety of skin tones, I think, which is why it must be such a popular product (in addition to the name lol). The liquid version is the same shade. You can really see the gold shimmer in the liquid.NARS Liquid Blush, Orgasm swatch, neversaydiebeauty.com

It comes in a small attractive square glass bottle.

Instead of the dosing hole at the top of the glass bottle that Clinique had where you invert the bottle to get a bit out on your finger, brush or blending sponge, NARS has a glass stick-style dropper built into the cap.

At first I thought I’d like the stick, but it actually seems like it will be a liability especially when I get near the bottom of the bottle. I have also found that with the NARS Liquid Blush, a little goes a loooooong way. The stick isn’t hollow like a serum dropper where you can control how much you take up. Instead, the stick is solid and the liquid blush clings to it. I try to get as little as I can on the dropper, but it’s hard to control. I tap it gently on the side of the bottle top to try to get rid of the excess.

But after publishing this post, I learned from my learned blogger friend, Marcia from Beauty InfoZone, that there’s also a pump dispenser under the cap! Lift the cap straight up, and there it is! Thank goodness for Marcia setting me straight. The pump dispenser is much easier to use. Hopefully, it will be easier too as I get to the bottom of the bottle. Stay tuned!

The liquid blush blends well. I usually blend it with my finger initially and then go over it with blending sponge if there’s too much color or the placement isn’t right. I think that tapping a little onto a blush brush would work out just as well or probably better than the finger method.

The liquid blush also lasts on my dry skin for hours and hours. I was afraid it would fade, but it stays noticeably on till I remove it at night.

I’ve had my bottle of NARS Liquid Blush in the Orgasm shade for a few weeks (I ordered it from Ulta during their early summer 20% off coupon event), and already I can see an empty area at the top of the bottle. This stuff goes quickly.

I’m not sure that I would say this blush is a must-have, but for fans of the NARS Orgasm shade or fans of liquid blush it’s a nice addition to your stash. After I bought it, I learned that NARS, a cruelty-free brand, decided to start to sell their products in China which means that China can require that NARS products be tested on animals. Boo!

Did you buy NARS Liquid Blush or pass?

  1. I bought this in the shade Torrid and am waiting for it to arrive sometimes this week. I know many adore the shade Orgasm but on me it’s just pure glitter. 🙁

    1. Oh, that is so interesting, Shireen, that Orgasm appears so glittery on you. On my cheeks, the golden shimmer is very subtle. I am dying to see your swatches of Torrid once you receive it. Online, the color looks fabulous

Morning……..🙋🏻💜 Thanks for sharing your thoughts and sample photos. I have never tried NARS. My all time favorite blush is Bare Minerals in Thistle. Have used it for years. Have a great day. I’m off to finish my new crochet project……A Farmers Market Bag. 😱😘

    1. DiEtta, I went to Bare Minerals website to check out Thistle, and they’re run out of it on the website coz it must be sooooooo popular! It’s a beautiful shade that looks very similar to Orgasm but without the golden shimmer. Thistle is definitely my kind of shade too. I still wear powder blush from time to time but I’ve been using creams and now liquid again more frequently because my skin is so dry. Eager to see your new crocheted farmer’s market bag!!

  3. Wow, the color is so gorgeous, but I’m not a fan of the style of dropper. Also, it looks like it goes a lot faster than a traditional powder blush, which I have yet to ever run out of! lol

    1. You’re right on both counts! I don’t care for the dropper, and it is definitely getting used up faster than I expected. I am trying to adjust and just use the smallest amount because it is soooooo pigmented and a little goes a looooong way.

  4. I love this shade- it’s beautiful!

    1. The liquid Orgasm is sooooo gorgeous, even prettier than the powder IMHO. I love it!

  5. I think that it is a very pretty liquid blush, but the dropper seems to be a miss, and of course it makes no logical sense that NARS would go from cruelty-free to animal testing.. They should avoid selling in China unless they stop animal testing. Such a sad choice to have made.

    1. I hope that companies like L’Oreal that are trying to convince China to change their requirements will soon prevail. I recently discovered that even toothpaste is required to be tested on animals if sold in China. I hate this!

  6. Sandy P says:

Recently gave my sister my barely used pan of Orgasm powder blush. My skin has just become too dry for powder. I am on the hunt for a cream or liquid blush but I am checking out Nars cruelty-free status before I would buy this.

    1. I’m in the same boat as you, Sandy. I mostly reach for cream or liquid blush for the same reason. I know that a lot of women have been contacting NARS to complain about NARS decision to sell in China. If you can, send them an email to make your voice heard. Hopefully, they will change their mind. Frankly, I wish China would listen to companies like L’Oreal and others that are trying to convince China to accept other even more accurate cruelty-free testing options. Did you know that manufacturers of toothpaste and other personal care products (maybe even ones that you use) are required to allow their products to be tested on animals in order to be sold in China? It’s truly awful. Any personal care products from large corporations like P&G, L’Oreal, Unilever etc. are usually tested on animals if they are sold in China even though the company itself doesn’t test on animals. Grrrrr

  7. I’m really loving liquid and cream blushes these days. Can’t really go wrong with anything that is Nars Orgasm.

  8. I’ve been wanting to try this. Orgasm is a staple lip gloss and blush for me, and I think I’d like the liquid version – thanks for sharing your experience (PS, I think I’d like the bottle design better if it wasn’t a dropper as well.)

    1. I wish they had a different dosing mechanism. You need so very little that this big dropper actually helps waste the product IMHO. Otherwise, I love it!

  9. The shade is stunning! TBH, I’m a tad scared that liquid or cream blush will enhance my pores and acne scars.

    1. IDK about that, Renu. You would probably know better. It is so much more lightweight than a cream, and it only takes a tiny drop. I wish testers were more sanitary so you could try it out at the store. There’s a deeper mauvier shade (Torrid, I think) that would look great on you IMO, but they probably have it in the powder version too.

  10. I had no idea NARS made this. Orgasm is a great shade, but I don’t love the dropper idea. Still seems like a fun product to try, though!

  11. Actually this has a pump which I didn’t discover the first two times I used it. Just lift the top up rather than turn it and you’ll see the pump. I use it both ways – pump and stick. I dot a few dots on my cheeks and blend. A little goes a long way. I’m crazy about the color of this and I didn’t care for the powder version at all. It always looked too glittery on my face.

    1. OMG, thank goodness for you, Marcia! You always set me straight. I just pulled the top off and there it is. I will amend my post and credit you! This will make all the difference for me. I need just a tiny bit and this should help. I agree, the powder is not my favorite. In fact, I seldom reach for it. Thanks again!

  12. OK I’m totally buying this, it looks like a great blush to own!!! can you believe I never owned any liquid blush?

  13. You know I am a huge fan of creams and liquids, thanks for the recommendation!

    1. It’s a lovely blush in the liquid form. I definitely prefer it to the powder. I’m not sure I wear enough of it for it to be hydrating but it’s definitely not drying like powder can be.

  14. That is such a beautiful shade. I just wish I was better at blending liquids.

    1. This one is pretty fool proof. Plus you can use a blending sponge or a brush

  15. Oh, what a beautiful blush this is! I think this color is an absolute stunner! I just recently started using liquid and gel blushes, and I feel like I’ve been missing out.

    1. Just for the heck of it, you should swatch it at a store. The liquid version is soooooo much less glittery than the powder. Frankly, the liquid doesn’t look glittery on me at all though you can see a tiny bit of it in the liquid on its own.
