I’ve been taking biotin, an important B vitamin for hair and nail growth, for more than two years. It has made a huge difference in the health of my nails as well as in the rate of growth of both my hair and nails. I have to file my nails and trim my hair more frequently, but you won’t catch me complaining. My nails used to split vertically, and it was painful and very unsightly. It made me look and feel older.
I take an “extra-strength” dosage of biotin, 5000 mcg, every day. Doses below that don’t seem to work as well for me.
I’ve tried many different brands of biotin. Recently, I used a brand of biotin that included argan oil that I thought was an extra benefit, but I had to take 3 capsules a day to achieve the 5000 mcg. It was a pain to remember to take 3 capsules throughout the day.
I just tried a brand and form that is new to me: Natrol Biotin 5000 mcg.
I found it at Costco. What’s different about the form is that it’s a dissolvable tablet, and it takes like yummy strawberry. It dissolves in my mouth in seconds and that’s it. Done. I don’t need water. I don’t need to take multiple pills or capsules. Easy peasy.
If you are looking for a better way to take biotin, try Natrol. I have no relationship with the brand, but I have tried probably 7 or 8 different brands and types of biotin and by far, Natrol is the easiest way for me to take the extra-strength dosage of biotin that works for me. I bought mine at Costco yesterday. The large size bottle contains 250 dissolvable tablets, and I paid a little over $12 for a more than an 8 month supply. The regular size bottles contain 90 tablets. Natrol Biotin also comes in a swallowable10,000 mcg tablet if you go with maximum strength, as well as in a “fast dissolve” tablet at a lower dosage, 1000 mcg. All three appear to be widely available at Walgreen’s, Amazon, drugstore.com, iHerb.com, and LuckyVitamin.com.
Around $12 for a more than an 8 month supply is a steal. TFS

Plus they’re tiny so in addition to tasting good, the tablet is gone in seconds! If they have Natrol in the UK, try ’em!
I need to browse my Costco Vitamin section a little bit more. Most of the time by the the time I get to that area, I’m exhausted and already feel broke, haha!! I just did a major Costco shop yesterday and I just never think about picking up my Vitamins there!

I take probiotics that cost a fortune and I always buy my contact lens solutions in that department so I am there anyway. I also buy fish oil supplements at a deep discount at Costco as well. To be honest, I probably spend more money in the personal care department at Costco on a regular basis than anything else! Big savings 🙂
I love Costco. I get my allergy medicine from there. And like everything else in my life haha. I like that you get a lot of mg from those chewy vitamins. Usually gummys are a joke with how much actual vitamins they contain, but those are surprisingly good! Thanks for the heads up!

These are not chewables like gummies. They dissolve on your tongue in about 3 seconds, literally. They’re the best!
I have tried this brand before and I agree – it is the easiest. I have so many different supplements so taking any is never a fun thing. I love the price point on these… thank goodness for Costco.

Taking 3 capsules a day of another brand to get 5000 mcg got old fast. I was so happy to discover this little tab that dissolves on my tongue in literally 3 seconds. Biotin really works for me, so I’m never without it.

I love that is dissolves! I have biotin in my prenatal vitamin, so once I’m done taking those (in about 6 more months lol) then I’ll look into these! Postpartum hair look is a nightmare, so I’ll definitely want to prevent that!

Biotin is a must for me. Hope you’ll be pleased with the results. The dissolvable tablet from Natrol is so much better than the 3 tablets I had to take previously to get the dosage I need.
A dissolvable one sounds good to me. I buy a lot of Natrol at Costco too.

I started on biotin a few months ago but laziness set it and I didn’t bother to repurchase when I ran out of the first batch. I should probably take it again because my nails – and hair – tend to break easily.

It took at least 3 months for biotin to begin to work for me, but then I had vertical splits in my nails and I don’t think I was taking a high enough dosage when I started out with biotin 3 years ago. The good news is biotin works if you stick with it.
