Arice, the founder of Humboldt Soap Company, worked for years as a massage therapist and Spa Treatment Tech at high end spa and treatment centers. But she was disappointed at the big markup that many products were sold for at the spas. She felt that she could do better. In response, she created Humboldt Soap Company, named after the beautiful county she lives in in California, with skincare products crafted with natural and organic ingredients and without the fillers and synthetic ingredients used by other brands. She also introduced her new line of soaps and moisturizers at affordable prices.
I received Cremeplexion Face Cream to try out. The first thing I noticed upon opening the jar was the texture of the cream itself.
It’s quite unique, unlike any other facial moisturizers that I’ve used. It’s fluffy, lightweight, and much more like an airy mousse than a heavy cream. It’s delightful to use!
In fact, sometimes I find myself putting on way more than I need just because I love the feel of it, lol. I’ve gotta stop that because, in reality, I only need a small amount that I scoop out of the jar with a clean scoop. A little goes a long way!
Created for all skin types including sensitive skin, it contains natural and organic ingredients, and a rather short list at that! Here are the key ingredients and what they do:
Argan Oil: Derived from the kernels of the Argan tree of Morocco, Argan oil is an excellent source of vitamin E and antioxidants.
Coconut Oil: Excellent source of lauric acid and vitamin E for moisturizing.
Shea Butter: Natural fat derived from the fruit of the Karite tree. Excellent natural moisturizer.
Vegetable Glycerin: Natural humectant that draws and retains moisture.
Cocoa Butter: Expressed from the roasted seeds of the cocoa tree for it’s skin lubricating and moisturizing effects.
Collagen: Amino acids which aid in replenishing elasticity to the skin.
Seaweed Extract: Helps reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Also effective in treating UV damage as it stimulates the production of new fibroblast keratinocyte cells.
And Humboldt Soap Co. leaves out ingredients you may not want like parabens, mineral oil and phthalates.
With argan oil, coconut oil, shea butter, cocoa butter and vegetal glycerin, Cremeplexion Face Cream is very hydrating, very nourishing without being the least bit greasy. In fact, it dries to a semi-matte finish and leaves my skin feeling velvety. I use it at night because it doesn’t have sunscreen, and it is lovely. But because of the smooth surface it creates, you certain could use it during the day as well under foundation.
Importantly, Cremeplexion is fragrance-free. The jar contains 2.5 oz./70 g and is priced around $21. It is sold on the Humboldt Soap Co. website where you can learn more about the company and their other products (natural soaps, lip balms, massage oils etc.) as well as on Amazon.
Ingredients: Distilled Water, Argan Oil, Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, emulsifying wax, stearic acid, Organic Shea Butter, Vegetable Glycerin, Optiphen (paraben free preservative), Cocoa Butter and Tocopherol (Vitamin E Oil), Collagen, Seaweed Extract.
That cream looks luscious! As soon as I use up all the products that I have I will certainly try it. Michigan winters can be so drying.

The texture of Cremeplexion definitely is different from any other moisturizer I’ve used. I’d say it’s light and airy but hydrating with a matte/semi-matte dry down. You’d have to try it, I guess.
That price is amazing. I really like the story behind why Arice started the brand too. I e always hated the spa markups too.

I like the short list of ingredients and that they use vegetable glycerin
I’m definitely interested. My skin is really weird with moisturizers and I just basically have to test stuff to see if it absorbs into my skin or not. I’d love to spend some big bucks to get a dermatologist to explain all the science to me – maybe that’s my 2019 goal!

This sounds like a great occlusive last step for a night routine. Unfortunately, shea butter is one of the ingredients that breaks me out, so I avoid it like the plague, for the face.
