New City Beauty Barrier Rescue Firming Night Cream Launch & Sale!

PR Sample, Affiliate Links

You already know that I am a fan of City Beauty skincare. But as you know, some of their products work better for me than others. The ones that work better for me often become a regular part of my skincare routine, so much so that I stockpile them. Well, another one of those “Allison’s holy grail City Beauty skincare products” launches today: Barrier Rescue Firming Night Cream. This is one that I have been very excited about since I started using it a month ago.

Another multitasker from City Beauty, “Barrier Rescue Firming Night Cream is a restorative night cream designed to deliver deep hydration. Fortifying lipids support the skin barrier, locking in essential moisture, while advanced peptides and antioxidants help reduce the look of wrinkles for a smoother, plumper, firmer look overnight.

Reinforcing your skin’s barrier, especially when it has been compromised with the drying indoor and outdoor air of winter, is so important for maintaining youthful looking and feeling skin. If your skin’s barrier isn’t doing its job, then the moisture you’re putting in via mists, serums and moisturizers doesn’t stay in the skin but sort of evaporates off. Not good. I’ve been using barrier creams on and off for a few years, especially during the winter, but also in the summer when I’ve been outdoors in the sun a lot. I have a barrier-reinforcing cream from First Aid Beauty that I had been using. It is highly unusual fluffy white stuff that has the consistency of cotton candy. While it’s fun to apply, it disappears, and it only does one thing. It has to be used in addition to, rather than instead of, anti-aging cream. Not so City Beauty Barrier Rescue.

Barrier Rescue Firming Night Cream:

  • supports and rebuilds the skin’s barrier to help lock in hydration
  • plumps skin with lipids (beneficial oils)
  • helps to smooth fine lines and wrinkles with antioxidants and peptides as well as by maintaining plumper-looking skin that helps camouflage wrinkles.

I’ve been using Barrier Rescue for a month, but my skin felt better right from the get-go. It seemed as if this cream were sinking in better rather than sitting on top. It gives my skin a silky feel that I love (a mix of dimethicone and lipids). Importantly, it feels like my skin is redensified. You know how some older people’s skin looks papery? Redensification is the opposite of that. I’m pretty much addicted to this stuff now. This may sound crazy, but I actually look forward to using it at night.

In terms of product characteristics, Barrier Firming Night Cream comes in an airless pump to help maintain the efficacy of the active ingredients, and as a secondary benefit, it’s fun to use. 😉

Of course, I love the peachy color of the gel-cream. Although fragrance is listed at the very end of the ingredient list, I thought it was fragrance-free because any scent it has is imperceptible to me, and I have a really good sense of smell.

I use Barrier Firming Night Cream once a day, at night (duh) after I’ve used any other serums I happen to be using. Sometimes I will use it on its own after cleansing and toning. I apply one full pump’s worth to my face and neck in an upward motion, and sometimes I’ll use another half pump. It just feels so good.

Before introducing the new product, City Beauty conducted a small scale study. One thing I’ll say about City Beauty that impresses me is that they do not test their products on young women, but on middle-aged and older women. Thank you! Here are the results:

  • 96% said their skin looks tighter
  • 92% said their skin looks less wrinkled
  • 96% said their skin looks brighter
  • 100% said the appearance of their fine lines are less noticeable.

Sometimes I think CB hypes their products, but with Barrier Rescue and my own experience, I would agree with the other testers. Barrier Rescue Firming Night Cream goes into my “works for me” category like Lid Lifting Eye Treatment, UpLift Serum, and Multi-Action Firming Cream. Actually, Barrier Rescue may replace Multi-Action Firming Cream because I prefer the lighterweight, bouncier skinfeel that I get from it.

As usual, City Beauty is launching their new product with a sale. Barrier Rescue Firming Night Cream is 40% off with the code CREAM40 if purchased today (February 1) through February 4.  The regular price for the 50 ml/1.7 oz. product is $84. You know I only shop CB when they are having a sale, so I am going to buy another bottle now for my stash. This product is a keeper.

You’re totally right. I have a hard time finding anything in common with so many “beauty experts” who seem to be in their teens! My old face needs moisture!

  3. I’m very impressed that they use middle age women to test their products. I see advertisements for skincare on already perfect skin and wonder why they’d choose to have someone like that use the products. Not that they can’t use them but they don’t have the problems that older skin does. With the sale it’s an excellent time to buy so I will.
