New CoTZ Sport Non-Tinted Mineral Sunscreen SPF 45

Although the temperature yesterday was pushing 60 for a few hours, the warm weather is still a ways away in New England. Nevertheless, I’ve been spending more time outdoors. And sunscreen is a must.

While I use absorbent chemical sunscreens from time to time primarily on my face because they often work better with makeup in my experience, I feel better about using mineral sunscreen that doesn’t get absorbed by the skin. Last summer, I tried a lightly tinted sunscreen from CoTZ, Face Moisture  Mineral Sunscreen SPF 35, and I liked it (reviewed here).

So I was pleased to try new CoTZ Sport Non-Tinted Active Performance Mineral Sunscreen SPF 45, especially since I’m always on the look out for higher SPF products.

BTW, the brand name CoTZ stands for Contains only Titanium Zinc, in case you were wondering. 😉

Between gardening, jogging, walking and going to the beach, I need a higher SPF sunscreen that stays on. And because I’m applying it all over my exposed skin, I feel better about using a mineral sunscreen that sits on top of my skin to block UV rays instead of a chemical sunscreen that gets absorbed into my skin. CoTZ Sport Mineral Sunscreen SPF 45 can be used on both face and body.

It’s a rich, white, unscented cream. A little goes a long way. When I apply it, I rub it in well. If I apply too much or don’t rub it in completely, it leaves a bit of a white cast. But if I don’t get carried away, it sinks in quickly with no white residue. It is virtually invisible, and it feels like a silky, protective barrier on my skin.

Most likely in the summer, I will continue to use the lightly tinted Face Moisture on my face because I am often reapplying sunscreen to my face when I’m outside and not looking in a mirror. The tint in Face Moisture does an excellent job at masking any white cast. I’ll use the new Sport SPF 45 primarily on my body where I can see what I’m doing as I apply it, and occasionally on my face when I’ve got a mirror handy.

CoTZ mineral sunscreen products are not tested on animals, do not include any ingredients that are tested on animals, are gluten-free, plant-based, preservative/parabens-free, and reef-friendly with none of the chemical ingredients that can harm reefs. The expiration date is stamped on the crimp of the plastic, recyclable tubes.

CoTZ mineral sunscreens are sold on the CoTZ website and at Ulta and Dermstore. A couple of their sunscreens are available at Target.com. You can save 15% on the CoTZ website by signing up for emails.

I think CoTZ is a wonderful brand, and more people need to know about it. Check out their website for more info and for their complete product line including sunscreen for kids.

Morning ☕️☕️🍩🍩 This sunscreen is a good one. In Hawaii you now have to use a mineral based sunscreen only containing Titanium Zinc, to protect our coral reefs, oceans and ocean creatures! 👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼🐟🐳🐠🐡

    1. Yes, I heard that about Hawaii limiting sunscreens to mineral ones. Very wise! I would love to go there some day. Have you been?

  2. I had no idea what CoTZ stood for! I absolutely adore the tinted version, and use it exclusively on my face – thanks for introducing it to me last year!

I did wonder about the name, actually. Now I know! I’m in Orlando for a conference and it’s been around 90F. What I wouldn’t have given for your 60 today! I think tomorrow is supposed to be a bit cooler, thank goodness.

    1. I wondered where the CoTZ name came from and why they used a small “o”, so I thought maybe other people wondered too. Have a good time at the conference, Rachel! I haven’t been to Orlando in decades. The last time I was there on business, we had a horrendous few days with one of our clients, and afterwards, we went to Epcot for the afternoon where I proceeded to leave my camera in the ladies room. I haven’t been back since, lol. I can’t believe it was 90 degrees there, wow. Today, it was 48 here but sunny. Enjoy your trip, and get home safely!

Your 60 degrees is my very cold here in Hawaii, LoL. I always wear tinted sunscreen for my face though because I don’t wear makeup anymore.

    1. Which tinted sunscreens are you wearing these days?

This sounds pretty nice! I should find a better facial sunscreen this year so I will have to remember this one!

    1. CoTZ is a really good brand of sunscreen: mineral, CF, GF, and reef safe – good for FL beaches!

  11. I actually tried this sunscreen – the one in white packaging with a red line, or red label or something like that 🙂 It felt a little gritty but my skin felt very protected when I wore it. It definitely leaves a white cast, but when you are pasty white to begin with, at least it’s not as noticeable as on someone with darker complexion.

    1. The CoTZ Sport SPF 45 that I wrote about is brand new. There is no grit in it whatsoever. I prefer their tinted sunscreen for my face because I can put enough on without worrying about the white. Yes, I think with your fair skin, it would just blend in 😉
