New Flirt Lip pHetish Color Converting Lipstick

Have I mentioned how much I love lipstick? Yes, I know I did just two days ago. Lipstick presents endless possibilities for transformation. And speaking of transformation, how about lipstick that transforms itself?! Lipstick that turns color in response to your body chemistry.

I recently received new Flirt lip pHetish Color Converting Lipstick collection of three fun and fab shades. A few years ago, I bought Hare Magic Green Lipstick, a green bullet that turns pink. It was definitely fun to try and inexpensive, but rather cheaply made in China with some questionable ingredients. It’s sitting in a drawer somewhere. The brand I’m going to introduce you to is a whole different story!

First, look at the Flirt packaging! Could I love it any more? And the cases are covered with colored kisses, too. Plus, the cases click shut and stay secure.

There are three shades:

  • On Phire: yellow turns coral
  • Super Phresh: green turns hot pink
  • High Phever: blue turns to berry, a lovely pinky purple shade.

I guess my favorite would have to be the yellow that looks orange rather than coral on my lips. I’m always on the hunt for a great orange shade.

The way that Flirt transforms itself is that the colorful blend of pigments in each bullet change according to the pH in the moisture of your lips. So there could be slight variations in the shade from person to person.

I would describe these lipsticks as deeply colored lip balms. They are natural-looking, though definitely pigmented. The colors seem translucent though very colorful, if I’m getting my point across. Also their formula is so hydrating, formulated with sunflower and rosemary Vitamin E packed extracts.

They last in their semi-glossy form for a few hours before needing to be re-applied, and they fade with leaving a lot of color behind. Though they don’t make it through a meal, I think they perform very well for lip balms.

Flirt is definitely a fun, modern, young brand. It would make a great gift because it’s so artfully put together and amusing. Though it may be targeted to young women, that doesn’t stop me for a second from enjoying these playful lipsticks. I love the moisturizing feel of the formula on my lips, the fun colors that are perfect for everyday wear, and the packaging with the colored kisses is just too much fun! I know I’ll be getting a lot of use out of them this summer (though I don’t plan to wait till then to put them in my rotation).

Each lipstick is priced at $18 at FLIRTCOSMETICS.COM. They’re made in the U.S. The brand also sells a double-ended liquid eyeliner, a false lash applicator and adhesive, as well as lash buds (3 individual lashes together) in black and also holiday colors.

Love that packaging! The blue reminds me a bit of Lipstick Queen’s Hello Sailor except Hello Sailor is less pigmented. I want of course but I’m finding it harder and harder to add to my already out of control lippy hoard. Even with the lipsticks I lose (or rather the ones my lipstick loving cat Max steals), I have well over 150 lipsticks/lip products. I know many have more but for me it borders on insanity! Thanks for the post- another lippie to add to my want list on Pinterest!

    1. The packaging really is just the absolute cutest! I thought about Lipstick Queen too, but alas I haven’t tried Sailor so I didn’t know what it was like. So glad you brought it up, Debra! I definitely know what you mean about a lipstick hoard. I’m in the same boat. But if you need a gift or hear of someone who’s looking for an affordable makeup treat, remember these babies from Flirt <3

  2. These ph type of lipsticks have been making a huge comeback since last year! The store I worked at sells a couple of brands too and they are so popular especially with the older generations! LOL!

    1. I’m surprised they’re popular with older women rather than teens. How interesting!

  3. Oh my gosh, that’s so crazy how the colors look in the tube vs how they look applied! Very cool!!

    1. I’ve been trying these color changing lipsticks since I was a teen, and these are the best I’ve tried!

      1. And this is why they’re popular with adults! Lol

  4. I’m such a sucker for that packaging! I want yellow!

    1. Thank you, Kristina. I was amazed at how loooooooooong the berry shade lasted on my lips. I had to take it off with makeup remover!

That packaging is so much fun!LOVE IT! As for the colors I immediately thought yellow would be the only one I might be interested in and it really looks good on you but so do the others!I am really liking the blue, definitely a MLBB color and really quite nice. Thanks for a great review Allison, another item I’ll keep an eye out for a sale. 🙂

    1. Laura, I thought you might find these cuties appealing! The packaging and the shades themselves are fabulous. I too was most interested in the yellow/coral shade, but I must say I am very impressed by the blue/berry shade. I wore the berry shade yesterday, and I had to remove it with micellar water at the end of the night because that dry down color was not going anywhere. I don’t know a lot about Flirt Cosmetics other than the quality of these is really good and they’re based in NYC and their products are made in the U.S., but I hope they will have a sale one of these days so you could try at least one out. I think they’d make a great gift too for someone who likes fun, playful makeup!

  8. Well, thank God these are color changing! LOL! Otherwise I would not put them on my lips. 😉

  10. I haven’t heard about Flirt in years. I love the packaging and if I was shopping I’d stop in my tracks if I saw this. I’ve tried PH lipsticks and it is a YMMV situation. When it works it’s perfect. What fun lip products.

    1. Gee, Marcia, I had never heard of Flirt! I thought it was a new or newish brand. The packaging is killer. About the performance, I was surprised by how good these are compared to other changing color lipsticks I’ve tried in the past. Or even on their own. Very hydrating, surprisingly long lasting. I’m guessing that Flirt must do limited editions because these were the only lipsticks on the website, and they had a few eye products, like about 5 total.

  11. Maybe I’m not remembering right but I thought that Estee Lauder formed two lines to sell at Kohls and one was Flirt. Neither brand is carried there now though.
MarciaF recently posted…IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Compact swatchesMy Profile

    1. I remember Flirt too! I think I had some coloured mascaras from them. Like crazy bright teal and the neon version of purple, hahaha! Wonder if this is a reinvention of that brand, or if it’s unrelated and the name is coincidence? These kinda have the fun and funky feel that those did.

      1. Yes, you’re right! Flirt was relaunched in August 2016, and they’re concentrating on getting the work out via social media and they’re selling online only. They have a cool false lash buds applicator that I’d love to try.

    2. You are remembering right, as always, Marcia. Flirt is owned by EL but it is managed as a completely separate brand. It did used to be available at Kohl’s, but when the brand was relaunched in August, their strategy is to focus on social media and sell online only.

  12. That’s the most adorable packaging ever. Like Marcia said, Flirt isn’t at Kohl’s anymore, which is too bad.

    1. Yes, Flirt decided to focus on social media when they relaunched in 2016

  13. These are too fun! I almost wish there was a whole rainbow though. But then again it always seems that there are only so many shades you can really get from this kind of ph formula, and they’ve probably got them covered. I’m impressed by the yellow orange! It’s stunning on you!!! I don’t need the green since I have the LQ frog version. And I thought I had a mini of hello sailor….. Where oh where is that…….. Lol

    1. I think you’re right, Rach, that there’s only so many shades that they can do. But the yellow/orange is the first time I’ve ever seen that shade. I haven’t tried the Lipstick Queen Frog Prince or Sailor, but I love LQ so I imagine they’re good. I must say I am very impressed with the looooooong lastingness of the dry down of these from Flirt, especially yellow and blue.

  14. These look like so much fun! The packaging couldn’t be cuter.

  15. How fun! I remember as a kid, I had a green one that turned pink. Flirt is a cute brand, I think they are the ones who launched that nifty false lash applicator gun too.
Julie recently posted…Think Dirty App – How Safe is your Makeup? My Profile

    1. You’re exactly right. They are the ones with the false lash applicator for lash buds. I’d love to try that next!

  16. I think Flirt definitely has a range of interesting products. I have been intrigued by their eyelash staple gun thingy majigy… lol. But I’m definitely interested in how cool these are. I think color changing lippies are so fun and the packaging is definitely something I think I’d enjoy.

    1. Yes, I want to try the eyelash staple gun. I think you have to put on the glue but it still seems easier to use and I actually prefer lash buds to full sets.

  17. These look so fun and I like the colours into which the lippies morph. They are kind of “me” colours. 😀

    1. All three make great everyday lipstick balms. Colorful but oh so comfortable!
