New Products from Jesse’s Girl Fall 2017: Dial-A-Lash Mascara and Blending Sponge

I’ve mentioned before that I’m a fan of Jesse’s Girl, an affordable makeup brand that you can find online and at select RiteAid and Longs drugstores.

Jesse's Girl Matte Finish Lip Color, shade Angelic, neversaydiebeauty.com

I can’t stop singing the praises of their liquid lipstick Matte Finish Lip Color (reviewed here and here), the only one I can wear without drying out my already dry lips! I love it so much I have two shades: Angelic and Sultry. And I love their Julie G nail polish. I have several shades from their fab Bohemian Dreams collection that I’ve gotta show you, but not today. Finally, their liquid eyeliners are simply the best value, period, the end.

But today, I have two new products:

Jesse’s Girl Dial-A-Lash Adjustable Control Mascara

There seems to be a new trend toward adjustable mascara wands where you twist the wand head to twist the wand. In fact, I wrote about a similar mascara wand about a month ago from Eddie Funkhouser (here). Well, Jesse’s Girl has just introduced their version: Dial-A-Lash Adjustable Control Mascara.

The wand is a thick wand with plastic teeth.

The handle has 4 settings that cause the wand and teeth to twist more with every setting and to pick up more mascara for more volume. It’s a neat idea, and twisting it does increase the amount of mascara that the wand picks up and applies to your lashes.

Unfortunately, I am not the right person for this particular mascara. As I’ve written many times in the past, I prefer skinny wands with small plastic teeth that are easy for me to maneuver around my downturned eyes. This wand is just too wide for me. I can’t use it at all on my lower lashes, and it’s hard for me to use on the inner and outer corners of my downturned eyes, boo hoo.

Secondly, it has a wet formula, and I prefer dry. I was hoping that it would dry out a bit after a couple of weeks, but it’s just as wet as when I first got it.

I feel bad bashing this mascara, but it’s just the opposite of what I personally look for in a mascara. On the other hand, it could be the perfect mascara for those of you who like a bigger wand that gives you control over how much of the wet mascara you apply.

When I do wear this mascara, it doesn’t flake and it lasts until I remove it.

Midnight Black 10 ml/0.33 fl. oz. Oddly enough, I can’t find Dial-A-Lash on the Jesse’s Girl website yet, so it must be a really new product. Keep your eyes peeled for it if your local Rite Aid or Long’s carries the brand. It should be in stores soon.

Jesse’s Girl Latex Free Blending Sponge

The second item I received was Jesse’s Girl Latex Free Blending Sponge.

I don’t think I have a problem with latex, but I know that a lot of people do. But whatever this latex free blending sponge is made out of I love it!!!

It is so soft, and so bouncy. I love the flat slanted slide.

It’s easy to clean with either Beauty Blender Solid Cleanser or baby shampoo. It dries quickly in my cute little sponge holder.

Jesse’s Girl Latex Free Blending Sponge has quickly become the sponge I reach for most often. I hope they’ll introduce a few different shapes because I love this one.  $3.99 and it is listed on the Jesse’s Girl website.

Do either of these new Jesse’s Girl products appeal to you?

    1. If you’re a fan of big wands, Helena, you will love Jesse’s Girl Dial A Lash! The twisting concept is pretty amazing

Love this line of products. My local Rite Aid has a nice selection. Another 7 weeks before I can wear eye makeup due to cataract surgery and boy do I miss it. My face just doesn’t look right 😢

    1. Gee, I had no idea that one had to wait that long after surgery to wear eye makeup, Sandy. Yikes. But I’m glad that your vision has returned.

In the meantime, have you tried the Matte Finish Lip Color from Jesse’s Girl that I’m always raving about? And if you can wear foundation, at $3.99 the new Blending Sponge is wonderful.

      1. Sandy P says:

Had planned to check both out today!

        1. I’ll be curious to hear what you think, Sandy 🙂

  3. The mascara sounds as though it might be a touch too wet for my liking, but i do like the shape of the brush. That sponge sounds, and looks, wonderful. I need to linger at the Jesse’s Girl display on my next trip to Rite Aid. I used to love to go to Longs drugs, but they all seem to have become CVS here.

    1. We don’t have Longs Drug here so I didn’t know if they have all become CVS stores. I just saw Longs listed on the Jesse’s Girl website as a retailer for the brand. Oh well. Yes, you should check out the sponge! And even though you have a million luxury liquid lipsticks, JG’s Matte Finish Lip Color is fab!

  4. I have been disappointed in the mascara so far. It’s much to wet for my taste. I prefer big, bushy brushes like DiorShow. The sponge sounds great I can’t wait to try it.

    1. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one to feel that way about the mascara. I think if the formula wasn’t so wet, I wouldn’t have such a problem with the big wand. But the sponge rocks! I think you’ll like it 🙂

  5. I must say i prefer liquid lipstick more. I definitely want to see the post about the Julia G nail polish – can’t wait!!

  7. Shame about the mascara but I find mascaras to be one of the trickiest to review because everyone’s lashes are so different. Thank you for your honest, Allison, it’s much appreciated.

  8. Reading from above comments, the only state where Longs has not converted to CVS is Hawaii. It’s hard to find a mascara that works, right now the one that I enjoy is from Tarte

  9. I haven’t tried this line. Bummer that the mascara wasn’t a fit for you – I’m the same way, I like skinny wands.

    1. IDK if Jesse’s Girl is available internationally, but it should be – it’s that good 🙂

  12. I might like that mascara, I like wet formulas and plastic bristles.

    1. It’s just like Eddie’s latest mascara but the formula is wetter, a lot wetter.

  13. I haven’t tried the sponge yet, but I do like the mascara. I can see how it would be a problem like you said though.

    1. I wish I hadn’t used the mascara so I could give it away. I know others would love the adjustable wand and the wetter formula!

  14. The sponge sounds amazing! I always use the Real Techniques sponge, but I would definitely try this if the brand was available here.

    1. I just bought a Real Techniques sponge a couple of weeks ago, but I haven’t opened the box yet. Since I got the Jesse’s Girl sponge, I’ve been hooked. Hope they launch in Canada one of these days. JG is one of the great drugstore brands in the US
