New Shades from Jordana Modern Matte Lipsticks

A couple of months ago, I shared the new modern matte lipsticks from Jordana. They have become my matte lipstick of choice. They are beautifully pigmented and not drying. They last on my lips for hours and leave behind a stain once they fade. Plus, they are incredibly affordable.

Jordana has introduced 6 new shades for summer, and they are a mix of neutrals, pinks and reds.

Here’s what Jordana has to say about them:

  • Modern Matte Lipsticks are a Winning Combination of High Payoff Pigments and Special Ingredients that Comfortably Extend the Wear
  • Expertly Selected Shades Have an All-Day Wear Without the Typical ‘Dry Lip’ Finish that Feathers and Cracks
  • Talc and Paraben-Free

Here are the swatches.

I love just about all of these shades. Unfortunately, Innocent – a beautiful milk chocolate greige – makes me look like a corpse, but it would look great on someone with some natural color in her lips. All the others are great. In fact, I am so annoyed that I left them at Jeff’s by mistake so I have to get through the week without them. Plus I can’t show you how they looked on my lips. Boo hoo.

But here are what three of the shades look like on my fair/light skin:

Divine

Goddess

Ambition

I’ll bet you can guess that Ambition is my favorite, but I love Goddess for spring! I love how it looks with my new Lorac Limited Edition Champagne Dreams Palette and Jordana Color Tint Blush Stick (reviewed here) in Baby Pink.

So excited to get some of these! Whisper and Innocent for sure then possibly Goddess and Gorgeous. I hope the other shades do not disappear from the Walgreens near me. I was considering a couple other shades from that mix. Ambition…I love that shade on you. It looks like it has some pink in it on your lips but not in the swatch to me. How would you describe it?

    1. I should have described the shades, Laura, but I left them at Jeff’s house by mistake. Ambition is a true red, I wouldn’t say there was any pink in it. The shade Innocent is a bit of an odd shade: it really is a beige, grey, light brown mix. It really did make me look like a corpse. If I hadn’t put it on my lips, I would give it to you. 🙁 Gorgeous and Goddess are beautiful! I hope you’ll find them in your Walgreens. I can hardly wait to get these back from Jeff’s. Can’t believe I left them along with a couple of beautiful colored Jordana mascaras somewhere in his bedroom.

      1. Laura says:

Ha! I laughed at your description of Innocent and the corpse connotation but the “beige, grey, light brown mix” is a YES for me. I cannot wait to try it. The only lipstick shade that recently made me look corpse like was Shocking Coral from the Maybelline Vivid’s line. Funny that a “vivid” shade would have that effect on me even hubby thought so.
I hate when I leave things somewhere even where I know they are safe and it does not matter the dollar value of the items either. If it is mine I want it with me in my domain. It drives my husband crazy.
Oh and you look especially swoon worthy in that Ambition picture!

        1. You are the sweetest, Laura! I’ve got a bad cold and I look so horrible, I really appreciate the vote of confidence though that was taken last week when I felt fine! Regarding the shades, that’s great that Innocent is your color! Everyone is different for sure! I could probably pull off the Shocking Coral, lol!

          1. Laura says:

I hope you feel better Allison and SOON! Colds make me feel and look super ugly too. Take care good of yourself. If I lived nearby I would bring you some of my Sweaty. I call all my homemade soups that because I serve them so hot your nose starts to run and you sweat. lol 🙂

          2. Thank you, Laura! Your soups sound delicious! I adore hot things. But my stomach isn’t feeling so great so I’m not sure what I want to eat. I am too exhausted to cook so last night I had canned chicken soup with pearls.:(

  2. Thank you for the review of them! I’m not a fan of matte lipsticks but I do like the color pay off!
Krystal E recently posted…Bella il Fiore Mani & More Accessory Kit & Giveaway! My Profile

    1. I’m not usually, Krystal, because they dry my lips out and the matte finish doesn’t look that good on me. But I have found that this line of mattes from Jordana is so different: not drying, not dry looking, great color payoff, long-lasting, affordable. I’m sold on them.

  3. I haven’t yet seen these new shades, but I hope to, soon! I think I need all of them.. except Innocent. I don’t think I can pull that one off. Goddess and Gorgeous definitely need to be mine!

  5. I can’t help it – I love them all! 🙂

    1. They are sooooo pretty! Great additions to an already wonderful lineup 🙂

  6. These are absolutely gorgeous! Innocent would be pretty hard for anyone to pull off, I think. I always find that colors like that can be mixed with other colors. I have mixed colors like that with pinks to create pinky nudes.

  11. I’m not a big fan of matte finishes but Goddess is really pretty!
Molly recently posted…Nashville’s Bicentennial MallMy Profile

    1. Usually I steer clear of mattes, too, Molly, but these were such a great discovery! The shades are beautiful, the color lasts, they’re not drying like most mattes, and they’re super-affordable.

  12. Ambition looks great on you! I keep hearing such great things about this brand, but I have yet to see it anywhere. Maybe I’m not looking hard enough, but I will definitely keep my eyes peeled for these!

    1. Jordana is only in certain Walgreens, Julie. Usually larger Walgreens in “ethnic” neighborhoods

  13. Those are gorgeous. I’ve been looking for some new matte lipsticks that aren’t drying. And for such an affordable price, I may have to buy them all.

    1. You’d love ’em!

    1. I agree though I’m not sure they work for me. Can you wear those shades, Ameerah?

  16. Can’t believe I’m saying this, but I actually like all of them. All of the colors are very pretty and wearable by anyone, there aren’t any crazy colors that few people can rock. Great review and swatches, girl!

    1. Thanks, Anastasia! I haven’t tried Whisper on my lips yet, so I’m dying to see how a milk chocolate shade will look on me. Unfortunately, Innocent, a greige shade, makes me look like a corpse, but then so many women have told me how great it looks on them! There’s definitely something for everybody!

  17. Color Me So Crazy says:

These look great. Like I don’t have enough lipsticks in my life, but I think I may need them all. I love matte lipsticks and these colors just look so good. I really like how there are a lot of pinks in there.

    1. Hahaha, Brigette, I know just what you mean! This entire line really is terrific. Before getting these, I seldom wore matte lipsticks because they dry out my lips something awful. These on the other hand are not drying. So if you’re missing a shade from your matte lipstick collection, definitely consider these from Jordana. They are all that!

  18. Ambition is beautiful on you. I’d pick up Divine since I like a lighter shade. I only have one store in my area that carries Jordana and they don’t seem to get in the newest products.
MarciaF recently posted…Behind the clean with Swiffer Wet Jet…#SwifferEffect #SwifferDadMy Profile

    1. Thank you, Marcia! I just love me some red lippies! Divine is very light pink. It is a very pretty shade though a bit light for me. Jordana unfortunately can be tough to find in stores. Usually, it’s at Walgreens stores in “ethnic” neighborhoods.

  19. Jordana needs to come to Canada- so I can give them all my money! Love Goddess for spring too!

  27. I am not familiar with Jordana but I love the pink shade from your review/color sample!! You can tell if you love a lipstick by testing on your skin or lips 🙂

    1. Jordana is sold at most Walgreens, Ursula. It’s a wonderful brand that gives such value for the money. I am hooked! The pink shade is pretty and lovely for spring.

I have to get couple of these. I’m thinking Goddess and Gorgeous. I know what you mean about nudes on fair skin, not a good look on me either 🙂 I ordered the new Lorac eye palette from Ulta, now I’m looking for pink lippies.

    1. Valerie, I think Goddess and Gorgeous are great choices. Which palette exactly did you order from Lorac? I can’t seem to find the “pink palette”!! Is it a different one?? I just picked up the Resort palette at Nordstrom Rack. Gotta get the review and pix up soon!

  34. Valerie C. says:

Hi~ I look forward to your review on the resort palette. The one I ordered is the Alter Ego Eye Shadow Palette in Heartbreaker (Ulta exclusive). It was only $24. It was featured in a Lorac video.

    1. Ah, now I get it, Valerie: pink — a pink case! I was looking for all shades of pink shadows. Silly me! Heartbreaker looks like a great palette because of the incredible variety, and for $24, wow! enjoy it!

  35. Valerie C. says:

Thanks! Yes, they do a great look with the pink from the palette:
