New Spongelle Private Reserve Eau de Toilette

Spongellé, the bath and body brand, is known for its lovely fragrances, so no surprise that they have launched perfumes!

Summer and early fall are the perfect times to lighten things up with eau de toilette rather than heavier eau de parfum or parfum extrait. Furthermore, the new Spongellé Private Reserve Eaux de Toilette come in very portable, 10 ml slim glass, recyclable spray vials that slip into lovely floral cardboard protective sleeves. Perfect to keep in purse, backpack, luggage, or beach bag.

Four scents make up the initial launch:

Black Orchid
Morning Bloom (I had the Morning Bloom diffuser and it was sooooo lovely, I need this one, too!)
Peony Flower
Blackberry

Each cruelty-free fragrance is priced at $28 on the Spongellé website. Or you can go for the collection of 4 scents for $112. I received Black Orchid and Peony Flower to try out.

Black Orchid

Since I usually like spicy, warm, full-bodied fragrances, Black Orchid was an excellent choice for me.

Here’s Spongellé’s description of Black Orchid:

Fragrance Notes:
Top: Bergamot, Juicy Mandarin, Orchid Petals
Middle: Jasmine, Black Gardenia, Lotus Flower
Base: Ylang Ylang, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Vanilla

I love citrusy Bergamot and the four notes in the base are among my favorites. Good choice!

Peony Flower

Although I usually am not a floral fragrance-lover, I must admit I am totally smitten with Peony Flower! I think Spongellé does such a great job with florals in their sponges, body washes and lotions. No surprise that Peony Flower is a winner especially for summer. It’s a light and fragrant delight. Plus, the toilet water is pretty in pink 🙂

Fragrance Notes:

Top: Rose Stems, Petitgrain, Red Apple
Middle: Damascene Rose, Waterlily, Papaya Flower
Base: Cashmeran, Clean Musk

Though rose notes loom large in this scent, it is lighter, more modern and more dimensionalized than traditional rose scents.

The majority of the peonies in my garden don’t have a strong fragrance, especially my burgundy ones, but the big pink ones do. I think Peony Flower captures my pink peonies quite well!
