New Year Giveaway: Jesse’s Girl Highlight & Contour Kit & Benefit Dew the Hoola Bronzer

As I await the arrival of the Bomb Cyclone winter storm that is predicted to arrive early this morning, I am thinking let’s start the first week of 2018 with a giveaway! If one of your goals for 2018 is to master highlighting and contouring or just to do it more often, then this is a giveaway for you. Or, if you’re looking a little pale and could use some color, check this out.

Because I don’t contour very often, I want the lovely palette I received from Jesse’s Girl to go to a good home where it will be used and enjoyed. Similarly, I received a travel size bronzer, Benefit Dew the Hoola, in one of my subscription bags, and I don’t use bronzer.

Both products are new, and I have not tried them. So I don’t have swatches and can’t do a review. But I can show you photos of the products, and describe them.

Jesse’s Girl Highlight & Contour Kit

Jesse's Girl Highlight & Contour Kit, neversaydiebeauty.com

Jesse’s Girl Highlight & Contour Kit contains 8 pans of pressed powders:

  • 4 highlighters: the shades of the highlighters are difficult to describe. They seem to be pale mauve-peach, pale peachy-pink, light slightly golden yellow, and mauve/peach. In the pan, they look matte, but it is possible that they may have a glow since the Jesse’s Girl website describes as giving “a radiant glow”.
  • 4 contours: lighter golden brown, medium brown, reddish brown, coffee

The palette is sealed – sorry about the shadow on the photo. But you can get an idea of the shades.

The shades are described as “velvety-smooth” and “buildable”, two attributes that I consider very important so that highlighting and contouring can look natural and be easy to control.

Benefit Dew the Hoola Soft Matte Liquid Bronzer

Benefit Dew the Hoola Liquid Bronzer, neversaydiebeauty.com

Benefit recently launched a liquid version of their popular Dew the Hoola powder bronzer. I got a deluxe sample in either my Ipsy or Sephora Play bag not long ago. According to Ulta, the new bronzer provides “smoothing effects & buildable lightweight liquid texture (that) melt in for a shimmerless, natural looking tan that’s so sheer & seamless”.

It comes in a pump bottle. The sample contains 5 ml/0.16 fl.oz. and is valued about $5. The full size that can be purchased at Ulta,  Sephora or on the Benefit website is priced at $28 for 30 ml/1 fl.oz.

GIVEAWAY!

I am giving away Jesse’s Girl Highlight & Contour Kit (full size and valued at $12.99) and Benefit Dew the Hoola Bronzer (deluxe sample valued at $5) to one lucky Never Say Die Beauty reader. Both of these products are designed to give color and dimension to your face, perfect for winter when it’s not unusual to look a little pale or tired.

The giveaway is limited to U.S. residents, age 18+, where permitted by law. The giveaway will run till Friday of next week, January 12, 2018; the last full day of the giveaway is Thursday, Jan. 11.

    1. Mary, Jesse’s Girl really is a terrific, affordable, cruelty-free drugstore brand. It’s sold at Rite Aid. They have some wonderful palettes, my favorite blending sponge, excellent liquid eyeliner, and the cutest little purse mirrors. Check it out! But I’m glad you entered the giveaway for the Highlight & Contour Kit – the shades look so nice. I think it would be a good palette for learning 🙂 Good luck!

  9. Sandy says:

Not entered this contest as I already own both. But, Allison, I was just checking to see if you had electricity. Take care and stay safe.

    1. Sandy, you are the sweetest to check on me! So far, so good. The wind is howling, but it doesn’t seem like it’s hurricane-strength winds. I’ve got my fingers crossed that I’ll maintain my electricity. Hope the weather isn’t too bad in the midwest today xoxo

  10. Dagmar says:

I would love to win because I always contour and could use some new makeup!

    1. That’s great, Dagmar, that you contour all the time. I’m impressed! It really can make a difference so I should take the time to do it more often. But thank you for entering the giveaway. Good luck!

  12. gloria patterson says:

We are at 11 now with snow coming down, hope it will not be to much. They have already canceled school due to cold weather.

Hope all is still going well there and the important thing is do you still have power?

    1. I still have power now, Gloria, fingers crossed! I don’t know how much snow we’ve gotten so far because the winds are so strong it’s blowing hard and drifting. The estimates were 8-14″ so I’m guessing it’s something in there. The coastal areas are all flooded. Tomorrow, the arctic air returns here so it’ll all be ice. Scary. I hope you folks are OK!

  13. I always love the names of Benefit’s products and this one doesn’t disappoint! I live to use my bronzer to contour. The JG palette looks nice. I hope you’re not snowed in!

    1. Benefit is definitely one of the wittiest of the brands! Definitely snowed in here, but so far, I still have electricity thankfully

  14. Good luck to everyone!

  18. Awesome giveaway! Someone is going to be very lucky to win that Jesse’s Girl palette!

  19. Kim Pincombe-Cole says:

I like that this contour palette works for many different skin tones. A lot of other contour sets seem too warm to work with my cool complexion. Would love to win!

    1. Allison says:

Kim, the Jesse’s Girl H&C palette leans more to cool-toned and neutral shades. So glad you entered and tyvm for the always creative retweets! Good luck!

  20. Stay warm! I don’t contour too, I just go for simple makeup most times. Good luck to everyone entering

  21. Hope you’re weathering the storm out there!
Jesse’s Girl seems to make some decent stuff. I hope the future owner of this palette loves it very much, and since I can’t even remember the last time I may have barely considered attempting to contour this grumpy mug (and even that statement is probably more thought than the actual amount of sincerity I put into the notion of possible contouring – can you tell I don’t contour much? lol) I’ll not throw my hat in on this one and happily watch someone else enjoy it. 😉
Oh but speaking of things I don’t do much of, can you believe that I not only did go ahead and purchase one of those UD glitter eyeliners you reviewed a while back, but I also wore it to work…AND NO ONE NOTICED?!? I did start with the dark brown ‘punk rock’ one, but really, some of those glitter bits are blue or purple, and I just find it astounding that not a soul said a word about glitter when I don’t usually wear ANY eye makeup at all! Or maybe they all just figured I’d finally lost the last of my marbles and didn’t want to mention it. 😛

    1. Allison says:

OMG, Rach, I’m so glad you got one of the UD glitter liners and wore it to work! Even if no one mentioned it. I wore the silver one to my book club holiday party and no one mentioned it or commented. F**k ‘em! ( sorry for the profanity)I decided that I wear makeup for me. I wore the silver liner on NYE even though Jeff & I just went out for drinks & then for udon. Jeff told me he liked my sparkly eyes. I still want that brown liner – so pretty!

The storm is wild. I am so lucky I live on a hill 2 miles from the ocean. The flooding near the water has been terrible. I have no idea how much snow we’be gotten because the winds are so strong. Thankfully the power is still on

      1. I was just looking at some news photos- yikes! Stay warm!!!
What is with these glitter-blind people?!? Yes that must be it actually- we’ve dazzled them with shimmer particles and they’re so disorientated that they don’t realise what’s happened or why they’d need to say something about it…yes…. Heh. I wear makeup for myself as well. I figure if it makes me feel pretty then that’s a damn good enough reason to wear it, lol! You should get the brown- it’s lovely. I think I might pick up one of their razor sharp liner variants as well- I’m feeling a winged liner mood coming on and am hopeless at forming even remotely crisp lines with pencils. I waste waaaaaay too much product to my sharpener!

  22. I love the contour map of the face you included – I feel like I never hit the marks for bronzing. Thanks for the giveaway!

This looks like such an awesome palette! I love that they offer 4 contour shades. Often it’s hard for me to find one that doesn’t give me the muddy look. I’m on the fair side of spectrum currently during winter, lol.

    1. Starla, the Jesse’s Girl H&C palette is more of a cool-toned palette so I know it would suit you. Thanks for entering and good luck in the drawing tonight!

  27. This looks like a really good set! No snow here, just single digit temps. ❄️

  36. DiEtta says:

I am trying to learn this contouring and have been watching Tati’s make up videos. She does such an amazing job at applying her make up. She’s one of my favorite YouTubers. I just bought a contouring stick and have been trying out this so we shall see. I’m thinking 68 years old is a little late for me. 😱

    1. DiEtta, never too late! I will have to check out Tati’s makeup videos. I don’t have the patience for most videos other than tutorials so this will be up my alley. I also love Phyrra’s videos, though I usually cannot wear the shades she chooses, but I still get good ideas. I hope you entered. If you decide contouring isn’t for you, you can give the palette to your daughter or granddaughter – it’s a beautiful palette.

    1. I think you’d have fun honing your H&C skills with the Jesse’s Girl palette, Christy.
