New Year’s Nails: Sparkle, Glitter or Gleam?

Not sure what to put on my nails tonight for New Year’s Eve. I know I’d like something at least a little festive. Here are a couple of contenders from my December Zoya minis haul. I just love these little guys. And they still seem to be available on the Zoya website for $5.

Zoya Ziv

I was blown away by how absolutely molten gold this gold polish is! I’ve never seen any other gold polish that looks just like real gold the way Zoya Ziv does. Wow.

One coat appeared to give full coverage, but I put on a second coat for good luck. Or maybe so it would last longer?

I applied Ziv a few nights ago and showed it to Jeff. I think he was blinded by the golden glare, and he suggested I add an accent color. Because my nails were wet, I couldn’t hunt for my nail art tools like my dotting tool or brushes. Instead, I grabbed Oswin, another Zoya mini from the Pixie Dust collection – a true red with Mega Hex particles – and tried to make a stripe with the brush that comes in the bottle. As you can see, it was less than perfect. Although I loved the shade of red, I think I would have preferred the plain but striking gold.

Zoya Godiva

Although I own a couple of Pixie Dust colors that I bought in the spring, I still haven’t tried them out yet. Can you believe that? I have way too many polishes. 😉 So I decided to try one of the Pixie Dust minis: the neutral Godiva.

Godiva is a textured flesh tone with a subtle Pixie Dust shimmer. It’s like spun sugar. I love it. Here’s what two coats looks like:

So I have two choices here (plus about a zillion more among all my other polishes!): serious bling or subtle shimmer. I’ll probably go with the subtle shimmer since I’m in a more subdued mood this year.

What’s on your nails tonight?

Whatever your nails and your plans for the evening, I hope you have a wonderful time and a very Happy New Year!

Yesterday started with Llarowe’s Mighty Red Baron (I’d been wearing that one since before Christmas) but later I traded it out for A-England’s Virgin Queen. 🙂
