News from the Beauty Spotlight Team 9 April 2016

So it’s Saturday, yay. Jeff and I are getting ready to go on vacation. Our first vacation in 4 years! I’m so excited because we’re going to the Grand Canyon. I’ve wanted to go there forever! Have you been? I’ve scheduled 3 days at the Canyon, but that might be a little too long. Any recommendations for other places to visit in that area? We’re also spending some time in Scottsdale and Sedona. I plan to share my pix. I call it a different type of beauty!

But first, here are this week’s posts from the Beauty Spotlight Team. Lots of fun reads!

    Good for you! Enjoy yourself!

    1. Thank you, Laura! I hope I will. It’s going to be hot in Scottsdale and cold at the Grand Canyon. What to pack??

      1. Rachel R. says:

        Lots of layers. 🙂

        1. Will do, Rachel. I’ve gotta go shopping in my closet and see what works.

Enjoy your vacation! I haven’t been to the Grand Canyon since I was about 9, I think. I still remember how beautiful it was. Hubby and I want to take our sons there. His student loans will be paid off by the end of this year, so we’re hoping to do some saving. Now they have that transparent sky bridge you can use to walk out over the canyon. Are you guys going to do that? I’m terrified of unenclosed heights, or perceived unenclosed heights, so I’d chicken out. I bet it’s really cool, though.

    1. The Sky Bridge on the West Rim is very far from where we’re going to be on the South Rim, a 4-5 hour drive. And it costs a lot of money to walk on it and be terrified so we’re going to miss it, lol.

Sounds like a good plan to me! lol

Although it may be too much to deal with, I would skip Scottsdale and plan only a brief visit in Sedona (the rocks are beautiful, but it’s a lot of shopping), and go to Monument Valley, Utah. The Grand Canyon is amazing, but Monument Valley is my favorite place on the planet. It’s so quiet! You’ve seen pictures of it many times, but may not have realized it. No matter what, you’ll experience truly unique vistas. And yes, layers are essential! Have a great time.

    1. I think Monument Valley will be another trip, but thank you for the recommendation! I’m an art lover so Scottsdale is a must so I can visit Taliesan and a couple of art museums in town, and I like the galleries in Sedona as well as the red rock though I know I’ll be shocked at how much more developed it is since my last visit 16 years ago. I’ve wanted to go to Grand Canyon my whole life, so I think it’ll be OK. I’ve gotta work on the layers, I guess!

I’ve been to Taliesan, it’s very cool, and both Scottsdale and Sedona have lots of galleries, so you’re all set. Keep Monument Valley in mind for the future… it’s amazing. Layers and sunblock! Have a great vacation, and safe trip!

        1. I know Scottsdale quite well since I’ve been there many times, but I never had time to go to Taliesan or the art museum so looking forward to it. I’ve also been to Sedona, though I know it’s more developed since my last trip there to see the red rock & go to the galleries. It’s the Grand Canyon that I’ve never been to. Have you been to any of the native American reservations out there? And thanks for reminding me about the sunscreen. I’m going to see if I can find some right now!! Thanks for your help 🙂
