Paul & Joe LE Silky Pressed Powder, Spring 2016

About a year ago, I saw a collection of makeup from Paul & Joe on several blogs. Each item featured jungle animals, I believe – one of the cutest collections ever. The brand has been on my mind since.

Last week, I received an adorable white plastic compact in a silky drawstring bag featuring a fashion print: a blonde, wearing sunglasses and a striped swimsuit playing with a beach ball, that reminds me of the first Barbie! It’s so cute!

The pressed powder in the pan is embossed with the iconic Paul & Joe flower.

The powder has a lovely light powdery floral scent that reminds me of the pressed powder my mother used to wear. It smells like heaven! It comes with a soft powder puff, and the compact has a handy mirror.

The shade I got is 002, a translucent multi-beige shade that is supposed to match and enhance any skin tone. At first, I was afraid it might be too dark for me, but it does what it says: it works perfectly on my skin. In fact, at lunch today, a friend told me my foundation matched my skin perfectly. I think it was the Paul & Joe Silky Pressed Powder that made my foundation look so good!

But It also comes in shade 001, a pale pink that improves complexion and adds clarity. I think either one would be a great choice.

I love how Paul & Joe Silky Pressed Powder takes the shine off, imparts a flawless, light and airy finish and sets my makeup without settling into lines at all. That’s because is made with skin nourishing ingredients that prevent dryness. No wonder I love wearing this so much. The formula contains:

  • hyaluronic acid, orange flower water for moisture
  • jojoba seed oil, rosemary extract, sunflower oil as emollients
  • white lily extract for moisture and to prevent irritation
  • microcrystalline cellulose to absorb oil.

Also, this powder is rated SPF 25 PA++! I’m so happy to have this lovely pressed powder. Although I liked my utilitarian Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder, this is a definite step up.

Paul & Joe Beauté Silky Pressed Powder is a limited edition. It’s priced at $45 for 11g. It’s made in Japan, and it will be available this month (April 2016) at BeautyHabit.com. Definitely check it out. I noticed on BeautyHabit that they sell Paul & Joe compacts and refills separately too. I love that.

Below are a few other Paul & Joe products so you can see a bit of the product range.

Sounds like a lovely powder even though I avoid makeup with SPF in it. I know I am not the norm with that. 🙂

    1. I know several other women, Laura, who can’t tolerate many sunscreen ingredients so they avoid it too. For me, it’s a plus especially since I’m going to be testing a daytime anti-pollution moisturizer that doesn’t appear to have SPF.

  2. Isn’t Paul & Joe a fashion brand? Or am I thinking something else? But wow, a powder that comes with SPF25+++ is impressive but I don’t think I’ll ever spend that much on one though. That being said, I really love the blusher!

    1. Yes, you are right, Shireen! Paul & Joe fashion has recently come to the U.S., and I don’t think it’s in Canada yet. It’s in the Far East (is that how you know it?), Australia, France, UK. I love the powder – the finish, the scent, the cute packaging but it is rather pricey! I was just looking at one of their gorgeous handbags online, and it’s $490!

      1. OMG, my husband would have the divorce lawyer on speed dial if I purchase a $490 handbag. HAHA!

    1. I can’t really say, Samantha, because this is the first product I’ve tried from Paul and Joe. But I believe the powders are translucent so they work on all or maybe most skin tones. Paul and Joe is also a fashion brand that’s sold in the Far East, UK, France, China, Australia. It’s actually rather new in the U.S.

  12. I just got into Paul & Joe recently and I just love the whimsical packaging. We’re really lucky that we have a drugstore that carries this line (Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada) so we can play around with the product before committing! This compact is so cute – and what I love is that the product quality inside is very good too.

  21. Rachel R. says:

This brand has the cutest packaging. I don’t usually react well to floral fragrances in my face products, though. Guerlain’s violet scent is the only one I seem to be able to tolerate.

    1. This is a baby powder/floral type of scent. But it definitely is scented. Most likely not for you, Rachel. Hope you’re feeling a bit better now

      1. Rachel R. says:

I’m allergic to anything baby powder scented (except for, weirdly enough, actual baby powder). I’m feeling a little better, thank you.

  22. The packaging is so cute!

    1. I agree! adorable
