Paula’s Choice RESIST Advanced Smoothing Treatment 10% AHA Giveaway!

Paula’s Choice has been so busy this past year or so. It seems that there is a constant stream of new skincare products coming out.

In fact, I just received another anti-aging moisturizer and a spare for a giveaway a few days ago. But today I am writing about Paula’s Choice RESIST Advanced Smoothing Treatment 10% AHA with lactic, glycolic and malic acids for normal to dry skin.

After using Paula’s Choice RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment 5% AHA for several months (reviewed here), my skin was ready to up the ante. I was not quite finished with the bottle of the 5%, a beige cream serum, when the new Advanced Smoothing 10% arrived on my doorstep.

I’ve been using the 10% AHA exfoliant twice a day for almost a month, and I love it even more than the 5%. For one thing, because I started out with the 5%, my skin was prepared for it.

Secondly, it’s a milky white liquid that is very easily absorbed by my skin. Most of the time, I apply it first on my cleansed skin. It’s even more lightweight than my hyaluronic acid essences, so it seems like a good first step. Advanced Smoothing Treatment comes with a dosing dropper. Push the button atop the bottle, and the dropper takes up one dose of the serum.

I also like the fact that there’s a clear slot on the side of the bottle so I can see how much is left. Very helpful indeed!

Advanced Smoothing Treatment 10% AHA is recommended for normal to dry skin, and it suits me well. I haven’t felt any tingling or any sensation at all on my skin when I use the 10% AHA formulation. I pat on the serum on my face, neck and even near my eyes (avoiding my dry eyelids), and it dries quickly. Then I apply my HA serum, and then my anti-aging cream/moisturizer, and at night, I put on top of it all The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 30%.

The serum can be used to combat a number of skin issues:

  • to firm skin
  • to minimize pores
  • to fade dark spots
  • to minimize fine lines.

I love what this serum is doing for my skin in terms of firmness. I apply it to my jawline too to try to keep that skin firm. Very important! I don’t have large pores, so I can’t say too much about that.

I had been seeing the development of fine lines below my eye sockets, and they are less visible now. After seeing that success, I will try another area that I hadn’t really targeted. I have some disturbing lines around my lips, and I will try to apply the serum carefully to those areas, avoiding my super dry lips, and see if it will help diminish those lines.

Since the serum was also designed to help fade “serious sun damage”, I’ve been monitoring my dark spots. Although my two darkest and most stubborn spots have not changed, two other lesser areas on my face have faded somewhat. I’m consider trying using a little on the backs of my hands where I have a lot of sun damage to see if that’ll help.

The formula consists of a blend of 4 alpha hydroxy acids (glycolic, malic, lactic, and tartaric acids) and beta hydroxy acids to form a powerful but gentle exfoliant. Peptides and ceramides help stimulate collagen to make skin more resilient. Antioxidants help prevent further damage from environmental stresses. Allantoin, oat extract and licorice soothe skin.

I’m very happy with Paula’s Choice RESIST Advanced Smoothing Treatment 10% AHA. The bottle contains 1 fl. oz./30 ml and is priced at $36. It’s lasting me a long time in spite of me using it twice a day. Plus I try to take advantage of the frequent sales on the Paula’s Choice website when I repurchase. Fragrance-free. Cruelty-free.

I would love to win this product to help reduce my pores and smooth out my skin.

    1. Allison says:

Glad you entered, Nelle! Good luck 🍀

  2. Glycolic Acid is my skin’s best buddy right now, followed by salicylic and retinol. BEATS me how you’re using The Ordinary’s Vit C 30 above this acid! I used the 23% above every emollient I owned, and had to wash the lot off because of the burn (and I can easily tolerate 0.1% prescription tretinoin, and 50% Glycolic at a pH of 3.0 for about 15 minutes).

    1. I guess my skin is far less sensitive than I thought, Renu. I felt a burn from the Vit C 30 for 2 days, and from then on it didn’t bother me at all. I also read in The Ordinary’s info that they recommend applying it as a last step over everything else. Glycolic acid occasionally gives me a little sensation but goes away quickly. This 10% AHA doesn’t give me any sensation and I usually apply it first because it’s so lightweight, but I had been using the 5% serum for a couple of months before I started with this one.

  3. I’ve tried most of PC’s skincare line, but haven’t tried this! Would love the opportunity to win it! Thanks! xo Love your blog!

Morning…..☕️☕️🍩🍩I love Paula’s Choice products. I use several of them and they keep my skin looking nice. I purchase my products from QVC. They always have good prices. Have a beautiful day. 🙋🏻❤️

    1. DiEtta, I did sign up for QVC but I had a problem with getting notifications. If you hear of a good sale on QVC for Paula’s Choice and also the foundation brush, please let me know. Paula’s Choice often has 15, 20, and 25% off sales with free shipping (now that the prices increased with their new ownership), but if QVC beats that with bundles like they do for IT, I’m definitely interested.

  10. Diana D. says:

  19. Sandy says:

I have tried a couple of samples of Paula’s Choice product but not this one. Have been using products from The Ordinary but would love to see how this compares.

    1. I really really like this one, Sandy. Advanced Smoothing Treatment 10% AHA and the Skin Restoring Moisturizer SPF 50 that I just wrote about are at the top of my list of favorite PC skincare products. Good luck!

  20. Gabrielle says:

I care a great deal about taking care of my skin and I am sure this product will help me stay looking my best. I’ve used other Paula’s Choice products and they are amazing.

  25. I’ve used the 5% with good results so maybe I’m ready for the 10% now. This is a great giveaway for one lucky person.

    1. Marcia, I didn’t find the 10% irritating in any way. I could probably drink it. Great stuff!

  26. I have the PC 8% BHA maybe I’ll switch and try this.

    1. I haven’t tried the 8% BHA because for some reason, I thought BHA was an ingredient better suited to oily skin. But after using the 5% AHA serum for several months, I was happy to move up to this serum, and I love love love this formula! I think you’d like it

  27. ashley perez says:

I would love to try these products. I have very dry skin. :\

    1. After using it for a month, I wouldn’t say that it is hydrating, but it doesn’t dry out dry or very dry skin. It’s more for refining the skin, evening out skin tone, smoothing wrinkles etc. Thanks for entering the giveaway – I think you’d like it anyway. Good luck!

  28. I’ve heard so much about PC, but I haven’t tried their products yet. I need to get in on this brand.

    1. That’s why I’m using it, Patricia, and I think it is helping with my under eye lines. Thanks for entering and good luck!

  34. I currently use a 2% BHA exfoliant from Paula’s Choice and I found that it’s the only exfoliant that doesn’t strip my skin when I use it. I wonder if it would be time to up to the 5% before stepping up to the 10%.

    1. I have always had better luck when I step up one step. I went to a higher glycolic acid with another brand without doing an interim step, and my skin objected 😉

  35. Paula’s Choice products are amazing! I love their no-frills approach to formulations. Everything is effective without the over the top claims.

    1. I agree: serious but simple skincare

  36. I love PC BHA’s and her Omega+ serum and I’d be curious to try her AHA formula.

Thanks for entering the giveaway, and good luck!

  50. I like the sound that it is firming and fades dark spots. Does it help with dark circles?? I have the worst dark circles, I call them my allergy shiners. They are the worst when I’m congested or in pain from a Migraine.

    1. Susan, this serum can be applied near the eyes, but I don’t think it works on dark circles. I think it is meant to help with lines and wrinkles and uneven skin tone. Thank you for entering, and good luck!
