Paula’s Choice Skincare Empties: Treatment Products

A couple of months ago, I had the opportunity to try an entire range of skincare products chosen for my particular skincare needs – aging dry skin with sun damage – by a skin consultant at Paula’s Choice.

Most of the products I’m using are from the Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery line for dry or very dry skin that I reviewed a while back. I have been using several different serums/treatments with anti-aging and corrective ingredients like retinol, glycolic acid and AHA as well as a cream cleanser, toner, daytime moisturizer with SPF 30, nighttime moisturizer, and a hydrating mask. I honestly love this entire regimen, and the size of the products is so generous that I still have lots left. I’m sure over time they’ll appear in my monthly empties posts, but I’ve got a way to go on most of them.

But now, I’m back to report on two favorite treatment products that I’ve just about finished up:

and also present a great opportunity to save on Paula’s Choice products!

Paula's Choice Resist Vitamin C Spot Treatment, Paula's Choice Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum

Resist Vitamin C Spot Treatment

I’ve never seen anything like Paula’s Choice Resist Vitamin C Spot Treatment. What I think makes this product different is that it contains a higher percentage vitamin C – 25% – than I’ve seen anywhere else. It’s a white cream that I apply every night just to my dark spots to give a boost to the fading process. I’m not surprised that I went through this baby so quickly. I am on a mission to fade the sun damage on my face, and I want to load up with every weapon I can to do it.

Paula's Choice Resist Vitamin C Spot Treatment

While my sun damage still isn’t gone, it has faded more. I love the fact that I can use Resist Vitamin C Spot Treatment in conjunction with my retinol and glycolic acid and other vitamin C serums to try to move the fading process along a little faster. My spots are pretty resistant! I apply Resist by patting it on my spots as the last step in my nightly skincare routine. It can be used during the day too as long as an SPF of at least 25 is used.

I am sad to see the end of the product in the little silver tube, and I definitely intend to order another to keep up the good work that this guy is doing!

Resist Vitamin C Spot Treatment contains 15 ml/0.5 fl. oz. and is priced at $55.

Ingredients:
Cyclopentasiloxane (silicone slip agent), Ascorbic Acid (vitamin C/antioxidant), Ethylhexyl Hydroxystearate (emollient), Polysilicone-11 (skin-conditioning agent), Dimethicone (silicone thickener), Polymethylsilsesquioxane (opacifying agent), Disteardimonium Hectorite (dispersing agent), Propylene Carbonate (solvent)

Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum

Another one of my favorite products is Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum. Since I was given 3 different serums to try out, I do try to mix it up and use them all at different times, but I found myself gravitating toward this one for my dry skin.

Paula's Choice Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum

Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum (could the name be any longer, lol?) is a thick amber gel packed with antioxidants like vitamin C and E as well as green tea and a variety of natural oils including evening primrose oil that feels so soothing on my dry skin. In fact, it feels so good and so hydrating, that some nights I don’t apply anything over it because it feels like it does the job of a moisturizer as well as a serum.

What’s also great about this Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum is that it contains 1% retinol. To me, that means the serum is doing at least double-duty. In addition to hydrating my dry skin, it’s helping to do what it can to smooth out my lines and wrinkles or at least make them look a little less noticeable. Plus it also helps to fade my spots.

I’ve still got a little of the Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum left, and I’ll be squeezing out every last drop. But with fall and winter not all that far away, I know I will definitely be replacing this fabulous serum when the time comes. The tube contains 1 oz and is priced at $32.

Ingredients:
Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone (silicone slip agents), C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate (thickener), Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil (plant oil/antioxidant), Tocopherol (vitamin E/antioxidant), Retinol (antioxidant/cell-communicating ingredient), Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (vitamin C/antioxidant), Bisabolol (anti-irritant), Astaxanthin (Haematococcus Pluvialis) Extract, Tocotrienols (antioxidants), Adenosine(cell-communicating ingredient), Tetrahydromethoxydiferuloylmethane, Tetrahydrobisdemethoydiferuloylmethane, Tetrahydrodiferuloylmethane (curcumin-derived antioxidants), Tocopheryl Acetate (vitamin E/antioxidant), Camellia Oleifera (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract (antioxidants/anti-irritants), Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract (anti-irritant), Arctostaphylos Uva-Ursi Leaf Extract (non-volatile plant extract), Stearyl Dimethicone (silicone skin-conditioning agent), Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Seed Oil, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Seed Oil, Vaccinium Myrtillus (Bilberry) Seed Oil, Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil (plant oils/antioxidants), SD-Alcohol 40 (solvent).

  15. Now that PC is such an established brand I think they put more dermalogical expertise in their products. They’ve expanded the brand but have the research to back everything up. One of these days I’ll get into PC skincare because it sounds great.

  28. Laurie says:

I’m from Canada, and get all my skincare delivered from Paula. I go further than squeezing the tubes really hard to get out every drop — I snip the top open and use a Q-tip to dig it all out, lol! There is still a LOT left when opening it up this way, I’ve realized! Then I’ll use a binder clip to close it back up if there’s too much for just one more application, then maybe close it up more in a ziploc baggie. I sometimes get two, three, four more Q-tip applications, so I want no oxygen to get in there!

    1. Wow, thank you so much, Laurie, for that tip! I never would have thought of doing that, but it’s such a great idea. I definitely will do that with the Resist Vitamin C Treatment because at $55 for a relatively small tube, I want to get out every last drop! In fact, I’m at the end of a small tube of Lip Plumping Balm from Jouer and I’ll take the scissors to that one, too 🙂 I’m so glad that you’re a fan of Paula’s too. It’s amazing to me how broad her skincare product line is. There’s something for just about every skincare issue.
