Perlier Thermal Scrub: Like a Day at an Italian Spa

Over the past several months, I’ve had the good fortune to try out a number of bath and body products from Perlier, the upscale Italian brand. The products were provided by iFabbo, the beauty blogger resource.

Last week, I tried Perlier Thermal Scrub, and I’ve been using it every couple of days since then.

The first thing that stood out to me when I took it out of the box was the beautiful, tranquil aqua color (my favorite color, BTW): the translucent aqua-tinted tub is enhanced by the aqua gel inside.

Next, when I opened the tub, I smelled the fresh but subtle scent that is appropriate for both men and women. As with other Perlier products, the scent is wonderful!

Italy is known for the rejuvenating effects of the treatments at its famed spas and thermal baths such as Montecatini Terme, one of the best known.

Thermal spas have existed in Italy since ancient times because of the dormant volcanoes located throughout the country that have created mineral-rich hot springs and mud. Perlier Thermal Scrub was born from that tradition. Since I can’t get to an Italian spa, Perlier seems like the next best thing.

More than just a scrub, Perlier Thermal Scrub is a beauty treatment for the skin. Perlier extracted essential micronutrients from volcanic rocks that work together with thermal water to give you healthy, beautiful skin.

Importantly, the gel contains mineral particles that function as the “scrub” to exfoliate dead skin cells. One of Never Say Die Beauty’s subscribers posted an article on Facebook today from Mother Jones about a new pollutant found in America’s Great Lakes: plastic microbeads from cleansing and exfoliating products. I was upset to think I may have used products with those plastic particles. Instead, Perlier Thermal Scrub contains small particles from volcanic rocks that help remove dead skin cells (no, you will not have rocks in your shower lol!). In addition to exfoliation, the larger mineral particles combine with the thermal water to stimulate skin cell regeneration within the epidermal layer. Both the large particles and the finer mineral powder smooth skin by removing rough patches and revealing healthy, new skin. At the end of a summer spent in the sun (even though I wore sunscreen), I can really use the restorative powers of Perlier Thermal Scrub. The energy from dormant volcanoes has been transformed into a potent anti-aging skin product.

So how does it feel to use Perlier Thermal Scrub? Like heaven. The gel is thick, easy to massage, but not oily. I hate when my bath tub is slippery with oil after using some scrubs. Perlier does not leave an oily film on my skin either. The small particles feel like they’re doing the job. The result: my skin felt smooth and lightly moisturized afterwards. The fresh fragrance smells wonderful while using the product, but it does not linger on the skin.

  1. Oh, wow …. how awful about the micro beads polluting lakes .. who knew?

I’ve seen Perlier on HSN, but never really considered the brand, but I am in the market for a new body scrub and may pick this up. Your link to HSN didn’t work though.

Thanks Monica for letting me know about the broken link. Sometimes when I do the links using Safari, they don’t always work. I’ll go to Firefox and fix it. I like Perlier products. My did a review of the travel kit of their shower gels and body creams and those are very nice too. I ended up buying the White Almond shower cream and body balm (not the Absolute Comfort which I also liked but the regular White Almond). This product is nice because I don’t end up sliding across the shower floor, and the scent is clean and gender-neutral.

Now the link is fixed. Thanks for pointing it out. When I went to the HSN site, it offered me a 15% off for signing up for emails. Not sure, if that can be combined with the ifabbo5 discount but worth a try!

  2. I have also been enjoying this scrub! So far I’m loving the Perlier brand!

Although the “spray lotion” was a little funky, I love Perlier products. I think they’re a real find! I’m eager to read your review of the new Urban Decay Revolution Lipsticks. I was so sad when my ipsy bag from last month that might have had one in there got lost in transit. Gotta get one soon!

  3. thanx, Alison,
I’ll try anything in tnat color.

do you have any experience with
    City Lips? It sounds intriguing.

    1. Allison says:

As you know, I swoon for aqua, turquoise or whatever that shade is. Love it! To answer your question about City Lips, I don’t have any personal experience with it. Frankly, none of the lip plumpers have worked for me. Usually, they sting and are drying. I have heard that City Lips doesn’t sting. However, other than a TV segment on ABC Ch. 7 from a while back which talked about results from a study by Dr. Dean (not sure if he was an independent researcher or the product inventor), I haven’t seen any reviews from real women that said that it worked. And it’s kinda pricey: $35 on the citylips website and $29 at Sephora for a tube that contains 0.169 oz. A promotional page for the brand mentions that you should use it for 28 days to see results. The ch. 7 piece talked about a 3 mm or 1/8″ increase in lip size. Along those lines, I just wrote a Beauty Tip last night that shows how to make lips look bigger. It will run on the blog on Tuesday. P.S. Thank you for the comment! And glad you’re back. Will try to reach you next week! 🙂
