Plant-Powered Luma & Leaf Skincare

PR Samples, Affiliate Links, Informational Links

Luma & Leaf is a new, natural/clean beauty, cruelty-free brand that is truly a delight to use! First, the packaging reinforces its “plant-powered” origins. Just look at this adorable “green” oriented box. I smiled when it arrived in my mailbox.

Mission Statement & Principles

Luma & Leaf’s mission is to: “Illuminate the skin-obsessed and the skin-confused with clean products that make a difference.”

In terms of safety, their products are crafted to the stricter standards of the EU rather than the looser standards of the U.S. The products are made without:

  • Parabens

  • Harmful alcohols

  • PEGs

  • Sulfates

  • Synthetic dyes

  • SLE/SLS

  • Petroleum

  • Unsafe preservatives

  • Mineral oil

  • Animal products

  • Artificial fragrances

  • Toxins

Actually, their list of banned substances including many ingredients found in other skincare products is huge, like at least 100. You can find the complete list on their website.

But while their product line is plant-powered, their approach is still based on science and scientific results. Using tried and true ingredients like Vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and more, they focus on hydrating skin while helping to prevent blemishes or lines and wrinkles.

They also ensure that their products can be used by those with sensitive skin. In fact, they do ethical sensitivity studies on human volunteers. And since their skincare products don’t contain preservatives, they evaluate their products to determine their shelf life.

Packaging

Luma & Leaf’s packaging is attractive, creative, absolutely adorable, and the colors and plant designs reinforce their plant-powered positioning. The boxes are cardboard and can be recycled, though they’re so cute I’m tempted to save them. 😉

Although their bottles are recyclable, they encourage upcycling or using the bottles for other uses after the products inside have been used up. Because the labels are so darn cute, their suggestions about using them for bud vases, Q-tip holders and more actually make sense!

Product Line

Luma & Leaf has started out small, with 5 products in their collection. That makes so much sense to me, especially since they are a new brand. Plus, it appears that they take great care in the development of each product in terms of results and testing for skin sensitivity.

Their product line includes:

  • a cleanser
  • 2 serums
  • 2 moisturizers.

That’s it except for some cute merchandise that they sell like scrunchies, tote bags, and hats.

You can buy the skincare products individually or in different sets to save money. Right now, shipping is free, and they send free merchandise with each order. I received a cute notebook, stickers, a hair band, an adorable makeup bag, a pop socket, and a lemony tote bag.

Hydraglow Cleansing Gel

I’ve been using hydrating and brightening Hydraglow Cleansing Gel for at least a month now, and I like it a lot. It is created to remove dirt and impurities as well as to brighten and even skintone. It is not meant to remove eye makeup because the AHAs are not suitable to use on your eyes. So if I am wearing makeup, I remove it first with micellar water.

It has no added fragrance. In fact, I don’t perceive a fragrance in the cleanser, except if I take the pump out and sniff inside the bottle, it has a faint, slightly citrusy scent.

The key ingredients in the pale orangey gel include:

  • Hyaluronic acid: Hydrating, collagen supporting
  • Provitamin B5: Skin protectant, anti-inflammatory
  • Green tea: Age protecting, oil balancing
  • Pineapple, lemon, and grape enzymes: Resurfacing, brightening
  • AHAs: Exfoliating, evens tone
  • Greenhouse Blend®: Revitalizing, soothing.

I use one pump on my wet hands, and it creates a milky, light lather that’s easy to rinse off with my natural sea sponge and cool water. It leaves my skin feeling clean and lightly hydrated.

Hydraglow Cleansing Gel is priced at $18 for 3.8 fl.oz./115 ml. It has a shelf life of 24 months.

Ingredients: Water, Lauryl Glucoside, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Glycerin, Lactic Acid, Coco-Glucoside, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Glyceryl Oleate, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Levulinate, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Citric Acid, Ananas Sativus (Pineapple) Fruit Extract, Citrus Limon Peel Oil, Passiflora Edulis Fruit Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract, Alcohol Denat., Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Chamomile) Flower Extract, Sambucus Nigra (Elder) Flower Extract, Taraxacum Officinale (Dandelion) Leaf Extract, Panthenol (Provitamin B5), Sodium Hyaluronate, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Oil, Glutaral, Tocopherol, Hydrogenated Palm Glycerides Citrate, Lecithin, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Bisulfite, Limonene

Fresh Lift Moisturizer

Fresh Lift Moisturizer is described as “rejuvenating”, and I agree. It is formulated to help prevent and diminish lines and wrinkles, to address loss of firmness and elasticity due to diminished collagen.

Plus it is super hydrating. Applying the creamy, peachy moisturizer to my skin makes my dry skin feel like it’s had a big drink of water. A little goes a long way, and I don’t even need a complete pump’s worth. It’s so incredibly pleasant to use.

Its key ingredients are:

  • Coconut: collagen-stimulating, antioxidant rich
  • Hibiscus: Lifting, tightening (L&L calls it “Nature’s Botox”)
  • Tetrapeptide: Restorative, age-supporting
  • Fruitfusion Blend®: Firming, plumping

I use Fresh Lift Moisturizer at night since it doesn’t have sunscreen in it. Plus, even though it’s not heavy, it’s rich and it feels like a night cream. It’s not greasy, but it takes a few minutes (like maybe three) to sink in. My mature skin loves it!

It doesn’t have any added fragrance either, and I don’t think it smells like anything.

Fresh Lift Moisturizer‘s pump bottle contains 1.7 fl. oz./50 ml, and is priced at $26. So worth it!

Additional Thoughts

When I first received my box of Luma & Leaf skincare products and other goodies from the company, I thought that the brand was specifically targeted to young women – Gen Z and maybe Millennials – because of the whimsical, youthful look of the products including the adorable plant designs. Also, the stickers among the gifts I received seemed very young  – for someone to stick on their notebook.

But the products themselves are perfect for anyone including older women like myself. The ingredients and promised benefits are among those that I specifically look for.

I recommend Luma & Leaf skincare products. They’re perfect for gifting, but I think they are appropriate and effective for a broad range of people and skin conditions. Give it a try! You can get 15% off with the code UNLOCK15!
